How can I disable screen tap mouse?

On Windows XP on my HP laptop, I prefer not to use my screen mouse for tapping. I would just use the buttons of the mouse click and not be able to click on the screen of the mouse. How do you turn off this option? Thank you, John

Check your manual for the PC and if the info is not in there, then go to the HP website and search for your model and see if the info is on their website.  Many PC have a variety of ways to do this, in order to check the HP for your PC website and you should find the method.

  • How can I disable double tapping on my touchpad?

I can't seem to find where I turn this option off.  I had turned it off before, and it worked fine.  When I type, my cursor randomly moves to another position on the screen.  I think it's because I hit too hard and you activate the double.  I read a previous QA, and they suggested to turn off the pad when I type.  That works well, but then I do not have access to the pointer.  It is just the double tap I want off.  is this possible?

    Hello ForeignDust,

Thank you for posting.  I think I might have a solution for you.  You can accelerate the speed of double tap so that requested the touchpad to be double typing really fast to activate.  I've included the steps to change this below.

Change the settings of the mouse

You can customize your mouse in a variety of ways, for example, the permutation of the functions of the buttons on your mouse, making it more visible mouse pointer and change the speed of scrolling wheel.

Please let me know if this helps you.

To change the operation of the mouse buttons

    1. Click to open the mouse properties.

    2. Click the button and then do one of the following:

      • To change the functions of the left and right mouse buttons, select the switch primary and secondary buttons check.

      • To change the speed at which you need to click the buttons to perform a double click, move the slider of the double click to fast or slow speed.

      • To enable the ClickLock, which enables you to highlight or drag without hold down the mouse button, select the enable the ClickLock check box.

  • How can I disable the internal mouse pad when you use a USB external mouse

I want to disable the internal mousepad on my Dell laptop and use a mouse USB - external connected instead, because tapping the heat of my hands seems to move the cursor, if the letters and words are mixed.

    Hi Martyn,

Most laptops have a function key (FN) which can be used in combination with other keys for example FN + F2 or FN + F7 to disable or enable the touchpad.

If you are not able to disable using the function keys, then try the following steps.

To disable the touchpad in Device Manager, follow these steps:

    1. Click Start.
    2. In the start search box type devmgmt.msc, and then on enter.
    3. In Device Manager, expand mice and other pointing devices and locate the touchpad.
    4. Right click on the touchpad and click on the disable option.

Following the steps above should help you disable the touchpad.

  • X 220: How can I disable screen orientation shortcuts keyboard?

Problem: Windows virtual PC captures the mouse pointer, and the combo hotkey to release the pointer to the host OS (Win7) is Ctrl-Alt-left.    When I type this key combination, it is interpreted as a display of screen in portrait orientation, the top of the page to the left.

Solution: Minimize everything with WIndows-M key combination, which releases also control the mouse to Win7

    I tried:

    1. right click on desktop, disable Graphics Options, shortcut keys.

    2. right click on desktop, graphics properties, Options and Support Hot Key Manager. Not checked the box to enable or change the keyboard shortcut for "Rotate 90 degrees" other than ctrl-alt-Left.

None of these works, the screen always rotates to the left when I hit Ctrl-Alt-left.

The video driver is at the current level.

    Any thoughts?

    Hi dnw333!

Lenovo reading optimizer also uses these same rotation shortcut keys. Try to uninstall.

  • How can I disable tapping on Satellite A210-103 with a Synaptics touchpad

    Hello

How can I disable tapping an A210-103 with a Synaptics touchpad.
Tapping means to me, that when I touch the touchpad of the notebook translate under circumstances like a mouse click, on which I don't want.

In the settings of the Germans, I found nothing of such "tapping."

    Jürgen

    Hello, Hans Juergen

Of course, you can turn off the tapping.

I assume that you want to disable this tapping and instead of tapping you want to use the two buttons on the touchpad. Am I wrong?

    This can be disabled
Control Panel-> mouse-> last tab settings of the device (or similar).
There you have to choose the Synaptics TouchPad settings

The new window should open, and you could find a lot of different details and parameters.
You must mark the second option tapping. It s from the point of view of all.
Here you uncheck the option enable tapping

    That s all ;)

  • How can I disable the mouse pad when you use a mouse plug-and-play?

How can I disable the mouse pad when you use a mouse plug-and-play? I tried to disable the driver, and nothing works.

    Hello

Check with support of the manufacturer system, documentation online or forums that there is probably
Shortcut keys that enable and disable the touchpad functions.

Parameters for TouchPad located in the control panel - mouse (there may be several tabs with TouchPad entered)
and some come with a utility that loads in the Notification area next to the clock in the bottom right.

    ==========================================

If necessary: (make sure that you have restarted at least once, if the above did not work)

Panel of configuration manager devices - mouse and pointing devices - Double click on the touchpad - the driver tab-
Click on update driver (it comes may not do anything like MS is far behind the drivers of certification), now right CLICK
    on the TouchPad and UNINSTALL.

Then go to the USB and UNINSTALL ALL controllers except the category itself (all in). RESET

This will refresh the driver for the TouchPad and battery USB. This does not prevent the touchpad from working.

The similar procedure on XP, Windows 7 and Vista is the same, except that we need to clear the specific device if present.
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310575

Then go to the system manufacturer's website and get the latest touchpad drivers.

Download - SAVE - go to where you put it-click on - RUN AS ADMIN.

    I hope this helps.
