  You may be able to recover the files deleted using the component of previous Versions.

  1. open the Windows Explorer and navigate to the folder where the files are stored.

  2 right click the folder and select the restore previous Version in the menu.

  3 in the previous dialog, select a version with a date and time before when you deleted the files.

  4 select the copy button. Select the desktop as the location for the copy , and then click the copy button.

  5 go on the desktop, open the copied file and search for the files.

  If the files are there, move them out of the folder copied to the desktop. You can then delete the copied, previous version of this folder.

  Just to add to the response of cor - el, in my case (identical) was specifically the complement DivX HiQ, worm 2.1.0.900. As soon as I turned it off, the tabs started to behave normally again.

    OK I tried everything and nothing works! Only added beginners are updated browser Opera 10.63; IE9 (Beta); Firefox 3.6.12 and Google Chrome 7.0.517.41 and Java 22. Of course like everyone else in the world, I had to uninstall/enable and disable/download again and reinstall new Adobe Flash 10 and 11 of the shock wave and they keep crashing too! Hello 4 keep screwing browsers and now I get connection network problems. I run Comcast doctor and did everything it said to do, but nothing works. Oh and I added 7-Zip and WinZip also.   Hello. Thanks for all the posts on this topic. I have the same problem, as described by the op. But, while I use Avast, I have NOT the add-on from Astromenda which has been mentioned. However, I have the SB installed toolbar, and it has been recently updated, 29/12. I suspect that it is the culprit, if this problem is in fact not caused by an update of Firefox (my tiles have recently been reset on new tabs, and I suspect that Firefox for this problem).

  I am ready to remove the toolbar from the SB, but prefer to keep it (Yes, I admit I'm stupid) If this annoying 'new window = 2 tabs with 'new tab' at the top' would just leave.

  Apart from the removal of the toolbar SB... does anyone have suggestions? I don't see that all recently added add-ons/extensions that I don't recognize, apart from the update of the toolbar of SB.

  Right click on a folder, search for Messages, and then click 'Search subfolders', then enter the selection criteria, search, search for a result in the lower pane, then 'open folder '. The message is opened in the Message pane and the containing folder is highlighted in the folders pane.

  It isn't a global search and location does not show the full folder path, but it is another option. Note that the location column can also be displayed in the message search window.
