  I would recommend that you download and install the free Windows Live Photo Gallery. It is a comprehensive program of imaging features. You can use it to run pictures in a folder as a slide show. When the slide show begins, click the pause button and allows you to control the slideshow manually using the arrow keys.

  How can I quickly set up and making a slide show of an album?  It took about 30 seconds to do in iPhoto.  HELP the ElCapitan photos is next to useless.  It is said: "You can quickly play a slide show of the photos in a collection or a moment." But it does not say HOW you can do this, or what a 'Collection' is indeed.

  I have over 9000 pictures meticulously organized into albums. I don't want to re - organize into "Collections" - whatever that is.  It would be certainly NOT fast.  I want to control the length of time that each photo and display format display. It would be nice to have the option - or not - to show captions.

  I don't want to set up a "project." Indeed only slideshow I put up as a 'project' in Photo failed because the photos have been posted for about a second - and I couldn't slow down. I use El Cap 10.11.4 on a Macbook Pro.

  Grateful for the advice on that.

  Hi Tine,.

  You can go up to the level of the hero Image in the slide show, and then double-click the Image of heroes.

  Which would give access to the actual Image (you will see the left corner of the strip control bed 'Image' rather than 'Hero Image').

  Once at this level, you can handle and place your image in the container Image of hero as you wish and it will keep the position you set.

  I don't know, but let me see if I understand what you're asking. You do not want to see the thread you have with a particular contact when you go to send them another message?
