How can I make Firefox STOP frequently connect off sites when I selected "remember me"?

I have FF 24.0 now, but what happened through several versions, and becomes more frequent. (Win 7 x 64, 8G ram, disk 1 t)

I always check "remember me" and "save this password" to sites like Facebook, Google + and many others still keep connect me, to the * less * every day and sometimes several times a day, so I have to connect everywhere today I had the frustration of being disconnected from a forum with every refresh of a page! (I am connected, press 'answer' and all of a sudden, "Sorry, you must log on to this!" HUH?)

I don't care if cookies never expire and no one else that my husband only has access to my computer and we know each and other passwords in any case.

I hope I can fix without reinstall firefox or delete the profile, because I have a bookmarks file large enough and about 9 Add ons to reinstall, more various plug-ins!

I begin to suspect its related to the race out of cache space-sites can't remember me when the cache is full? Since its fair to the max (he said 350 max, now he says 500), I empty the cache whenever I noticed full. I do not now clear until after he me disconnected several times.

Firefox should cut the cache for you automatically when he approaches of fullness. This would not affect your cookies.

It is possible that cookies are deleted or expired out at regular intervals by an add-on or external software.

Another possibility is that there is some sort of conflict or corruption with your cookies. You can delete all cookies for a particular site (e.g. Google) using the Page Info dialog box. While displaying a page on the site, try either:

  • Right click and select View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies".
  • ALT + t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies".

In the dialog box that opens, you can delete cookies from the site individually.

If all goes well after your next connection any conflict or corruption will be resolved.

I note also you have an extension that connects to Gmail on your behalf. As test, try to disable X-notify here:

Firefox orange (or the Tools menu) button > addons > Extensions category

Typically, a link will appear above a disability to restart Firefox extension. If so, which is necessary for the change to take effect.

Any improvement?

Some sites to check not only the cookie but also other details of your connection as your computer's IP address. If it changes then you may need to re-authenticate. This was reported in some cases with Yahoo or the AOL network (including the Huffington Post) sites when the Firefox connection setting is set to "Auto-detect". You can check here:

the button Firefox orange (or the Tools menu) > Options > advanced > mini-onglet "Network" > "Settings" button

The default setting is "Use system proxy settings" and you could also try 'no proxy '.

If you are using an anonymisation service or the VPN private to disguise your real IP address, which could also be a problem.

  • How can I make Firefox stop me having to configure my search engines?

From time to time - maybe every 15 searches, perhaps 20, perhaps it is not always the same number of searches - when I try to search via the search box, Firefox will open the Options-> search page instead.

    Repro:

    1. press Ctrl + K to activate the search box.

    2. Enter the search keywords.

    3. press ENTER.

    Expected result:

Firefox opens the URL in the search engine, I configured to be my default.

    Actual result:

Firefox opens the Options-> search page instead.

If you do not see the result of 'Real' try these steps of reproduction, then return to the #1 step and repeat until you do. I don't know how trying this requires. 15-20 I suggested before is maybe too low. Maybe it's 50?

How to make this stop? I want to just search - I don't want to have Firefox ask me to reconsider my search parameters.

A possible cause is that you have the mouse pointer in a position that is in the drop-down menu that opens if you type a query.
If the mouse pointer is in the wrong place, then you can call the element under the pointer of the mouse instead of the query.

  • How can I make Firefox stop nagging to upgrade me to 36?

If I wanted to downgrade to Firefox 36, I would have done the first time, they asked. In fact, I made do the first time, they have asked and discovered that 36 is so loaded down with no installable bloatware and other shit useless that no one asked to make it work as an overweight, elderly, stoned, quadruple turtle amputated with heat stroke, coma, immersed in molasses and blocking damn near constantly and offers absolutely no identifiable improvement , that's why the upgrade to 35.0.1. I don't want to keep hitting "Remind Me later" for the rest of eternity because I don't want to call back me later, or at least, not until they got rid of the bloatware and replaced 36 with something that actually works. How can I disable these nagging popup dialogs?

Hi, go to Options (gear) - in the 3 menu bar unless you moved, > Advanced tab, then the tab updated and you can set your preferences there.

However, I must stress that in the interests of safety you really have to use the latest version.

    Hope that helps.

  • How can I make Firefox stop downloads for a virus scan?

Whenever I download something, especially the smaller .torrent files, Firefox or .jpg scan virus download. In theory, it's a good thing. In practice, at least for me, that means my browser is blocked as long as 2 minutes (average is closer to 10 seconds) while it scans the file that I have ZERO concern about a virus in the first place. Now, it is quite possible that because I'm not a nerd of the game my computer is 'slow' by elitist standards (2 GHz is slow? 2 MB of RAM is slow?), but that is neither here nor there; I want this 'service' gone and I want it gone now.

You can disable the Firefox application for the downloaded file to scan.

    1. Type of topic: config in the address bar and press to enter.
    2. Accept the warning message that appears, this will then bring up a list of preferences.
    3. In the filter box, type scan
    4. Double-click on the
      browser.download.manager.scanWhenDone

preference to change its value false

This procedure stops just Firefox asking that the file is analyzed, your antivirus software is likely to scan downloaded files, especially executable files. If you want to disable this analysis (not recommended), you should check the settings of your antivirus software.

  • How can I make Firefox stop loading 9 three old tabs (recognition successful installations of Add-ons) whenever it starts up?

I tried to clear the cache, uninstall Add-ons, then restarting.
I also tried to change the start page in Options/general/start, but the change is not saved. Upgrade to higher versions of Firefox has not remedied the problem. Other suggestions posted on the Web don't work anymore.

This is a bug with plugin blocklisting has been corrected.

You can correct this problem by forcing the blocklist.xml file to update or wait until Firefox updates the file.

This update will remove the gravity = '0' flags in the file that causes the problem.

I moved my site from the old host of godaddy. updated the dns at register.com. On my phone android with firefox, I can see the new site, after I dropped the wifi and went to the data. On my desk and my husband two computers, we can only see the old site, even after clearing cache. How can I make Firefox displays the new site?

You can reload webpages and ignore the cache to refresh potentially stale or corrupt.

    • Hold down the SHIFT key and click the Reload button
    • Press 'Ctrl + F5' or 'Ctrl + Shift + R' (Windows, Linux)
    • Press 'Command + shift + R' (Mac)

You can delete all data stored in Firefox with a specific area through "Forget this Site" in the context menu of a history entry ("" history > view history "or" view > sidebar > History "") or via the subject: permissions page.

Using "Forget this Site" will delete all data stored in Firefox in this area as bookmarks, cookies, words of past, cache, history, and exceptions, so be careful and if you have a password or other data from that domain you don't want to lose then check that back up these data or make a comment.

You can't recover from this "forget" unless you have a backup of the files involved.

It has no lasting effect, so if come back you on such a 'forgotten' site, then the data of this Web site will be saved once more.

Do you mean to create a clickable hyperlink while composing a new mail?

Just above the text box that allows you to enter the text of the message, there usually a bar of buttons with buttons to add updated text in shape like the bold and italic.

This toolbar can also have a button to activate a clickable hyperlink text link (look for a string like button).

You can select the text and click on this button to activate the link into a clickable hyperlink.

If you can not find the button, and then move all the to check the ToolTip of each.

  • How can I make Firefox use another version of the installed Java runtime?

For purposes of development, I have several versions of the Java runtime on my 64 bit Windows 7 computer. I try to keep the number of JDK and JRE installation to a minimum and I want Firefox to use JRE 1.7.0_21 (32 bit) because this happened with a version of JDK, I am forced to use another application.

Firefox however use JRE 1.6.0_31 and is correctly reported as non-secure. It offers me the upgrade option, but I don't want to download and install a different JRE since I already said 1.7.0_21 installed JRE. I would prefer very just to be able to point Firefox so that JRE. I don't see an option to select a different JRE installed however.

I tried to manually edit the file pluginreg.dat (I know, it says do not edit...) by changing the entries of JRE 1.6 and 1.7 of the JRE, but on reboot, my changes have been overwritten and was back at the old JRE. So I can't view some web sites (also company/internal) without having to change to any browsers.

Please let me know how I can make Firefox use the already installed JRE 1.7.

Firefox scans the registry to find the location of the plugins.
If Firefox detects a plugin and not the other, then that means that the other Java plugin is not having a corresponding registry key.

  • How can I make Firefox the default browser in a non-administrative account in Windows XP, where clicking to do has no effect?

I have two accounts for myself on my PC under Windows XP. In the administrative account, Firefox is already the default browser that appears when I double-click an HTML file, etc. Firefox knows that it is the default browser.

In my other account, whenever I start Firefox, it tells me that this isn't the default browser. By clicking here to make the value by default, or in the options, does nothing.

When I go to Set Program Access and defaults in the administrative account, 'use my current browser' is selected. Mozilla Firefox is not listed as an option. In my nonadministrator account, the Control Panel Add / Remove programs can be used. He says I don't have permission.

To check in the other account, you would have to temporarily give him administrator permissions.
