  First of all, if you have the menu bar show. (File-Edit-View-History-Bookmarks-Tools-Help), then you won't see the orange FireFox button because in the new version of FireFox button replaces the menu bar.   1. Make your selection and copy it into a new layer.
  2. Double-click the BG layer to make a no background layer.
  3. CTRL (Cmd) click on the new layer to reload the selection.
  4. with the BG layer selected, click on delete.
  5. reduce the opacity of the new layer

  You can if you wish, flatern both layers without losing this partial transparency.  Save a PNG maintain that transparency.
