  Near the right end of the address bar is a White Star which can be hard to see, but look closely. When you want to add a shortcut to the toolbar, double-click the star.   For a long time, I had my Firefox (version 33.0.2 - even if I don't remember getting mentions "update") defined so that every time I clicked on the tab new symbol '+' to create a new tab (which has the "new tab Page" on that), the NINE inch nails would be shown for my SELECTION and PIN sites.
