EMachines W3644 debate upgrade to Windows 7 32-64 bit

Hi, we have eMachines W3644 initially XP home edition with 1 GB of RAM; then I upgraded to Windows Vista Home Premium 32 - bit, 12/21/2013; Then, I upgraded a RAM to 2 gigabytes memory awhile back. Two questions: is it possible to upgrade eMachines W3644 to Windows 7 Home premium and it's going to be a 32-bit or 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium?

The IMO 2 GB of ram is the minimum for win7, but then it may depend on which programs you want to use

It will probably be 32 bit, unless you have 64-bit hardware

Run the win7 compatibility checker to get an idea

Personally I think a new win7 PC (or second user, make a mark, Asus/HP/Dell etc.) at least then the material would be up to the task

Follow these steps before you buy Windows 7 (Amazon.com):

Go to your computer / computer laptop manufacturer Web site and see if Windows 7 drivers are available for your make and model computer / laptop.

If this is not available, Windows 7 will not properly work for you.

Run the "Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor.

  • Random Blue Screen Of Death after upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit

I was running Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit for many years without any serious problem. After the upgrade to Windows 7 ultimate 64-bit I was prey to a BSOD random. Sometimes I can get several BSOD in one day. Sometimes I could get any same-day heavy after multitasking.  The BSOD may occur during any task or when I try to quit. I have the latest drivers and BIOS. I disconnected all my equipment and refurbished it. I used the diagnostic tools to test my memory 4G and my Seagate 1 t SSHD hybrid and they passed. I changed the sata connection cable my HD to the MB. I did a Windows repair (scannow) and also done a repair install and it did not help. Although these questions is past the BSOD after upgrade to Win 7 64 bit, that I suspect may not be associated with Win 64 bit but could be hardware related. Any help to solve this issue will be appreciated.

  • Updated the motherboard, processor and RAM and upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, after upgrade the external hard drive encrypted with bitlocker will not enter the password.

Original title: bitllocker Windows 7 issue

    Hello

I recently updated my motherboard, processor and RAM, but I kept my original 500 GB hard drive, and equipped with a hard drive 2 TB extra, after the upgrade, I downloaded windows 7 ultimate 64-bit. After the upgrade I plugged my external hard drive (which has all my stuff important on it, that is to say the photo, video etc.) to realize that I had he encrypted with bitlocker on my old sysem. It allows Me to enter my password, it looks for a USB flash drive key, I did not. My question is:

Can I replace my old system with the old motherboard, hard drive and the original RAM to remove the external hard drive for bitlocker?

I still have the file windows.old on my hard drive, I have to restore it and remove the most recent version of windows 7 off the drive. I do this before I rebuild my old PC? I'm stuck here and would not lose all my photos (the wife would kill me!) I would appreciate your help.

    Hello

Reassembly of the old computer won't help. You will always need the key to open the Bitlocker.

  • I want to upgrade to Windows 7 Starter 64 Bit of Windows XP Professional 32-bit, is it feasible?

If the Starter does not come with 64-bit, then Home Basic or Premium. I want to just update and not start from scratch. Thanks for your quick response.

Windows 7 Starter is an OEM distribution that only is preloaded on the new NetBooks and Nettop computers. If you want to migrate to Windows 7, your only options are Windows 7 Edition Home Premium, professional or ultimate edition. If you live in some emerging markets, you should be able to get Windows 7 Home Basic Edition.

    The upgrade to Windows XP?

Please read these instructions carefully and completely before you begin installing Windows 7: there are important steps that you must follow to upgrade your PC from Windows XP to Windows 7 in order to preserve your files and settings.

Before you begin, you'll need to backup all your data to an external storage device, and you will need all the installation discs for the programs that you want to keep. Please make sure that you have an external hard drive (see details below).

More detailed instructions are available at windows.microsoft.com/upgrade-windows-xp. Here are the basic steps.

    1. start Windows Upgrade Advisor (windows.microsoft.com/upgradeadvisor) to see if there are known issues that may affect the installation and the question of whether you should install the version of 32 or 64 bit Windows 7.

2 back up your files and settings on an external hard drive using Windows Easy Transfer (windows.microsoft.com/windows-easy-transfer). If you do not have an external hard drive, you will not be able to use Windows Easy Transfer. Alternatively, you can copy the files you want to keep on a USB stick, CD or DVD.

    3. you will need to manually reinstall your programs, such as Microsoft Office, after I installed Windows 7. Gather the installation for your programs and all partner/license product key discs. You may be able to download programs from the Internet. For example, Windows Live Messenger can be installed from the download.live.com/messenger.

    4. Insert the Windows 7 DVD in your PC. When asked "which type of installation you want. Click on "Custom (advanced)."

    5. when Windows 7 is installed, use Windows Easy Transfer to restore your files and settings.

If you are not comfortable Windows 7 installation, check with a local retail or the services of the PC company store to see if they offer upgrade services.

  • Presario sr2030nx need drivers after the upgrade to windows 7 ultimate 64 bit

Presario sr2030nx had xp media center edition, I've updated to win 7ultimate 64 bit. my dvd player says he has a few drivers disabled

There was a pop up on all drivers must be signed, as an unknown device is lack of both pilots.

Please help me find a solution, thank you.

That particual error happens because of pilot missing generally regarded as 'Away Mode Driver'

Here's what I copied THIS post

    Explanation I understand

AMD away mode is a measure of the implementation of some energy-saving AMD processors. It is a measure not very well known and the reason the PC is slowly put one out of State a device at the same time leaving a PC race that looks like it is off. Not a very good idea!
Drivers were provided by a card mother manufacturers were also built in Vista, they are not provided with Windows 7 x 64 and as I already mentioned Gigabyte.
No no not this driver does not affect the performance of the PC

  • I can't open files zip since upgrading to Windows 7. (64 bit) Help!

I think I was running a trial version of WinZip when I updated, and since the uninstall, I can't find a program to associate a default value at the opening of the program.  What is this program and how to activate it?  I don't have the option "extract" in the Explorer or when right click on a zip file.  Please help - I can't find a good answer anywhere!

If the zip files are standard, just by clicking on them will open them in Windows Explorer.

For other files compressed, I use 7-zip http://www.7-zip.org/ that has an x 64 version.

  • Tecra M9 - upgrade to Windows 7

    Hi all

I'm new here so please forgive if I made a mistake. I was given a Toshiba Tecra M9 PMT90E laptop from a friend. I want to upgrade to Windows 7 ultimate 32 bit of Windows Vista Business 32-bit.

I downloaded the drivers for the laptop for Windows Vista and Windows 7. I was given a copy of Windows 7 ultimate 32 bit by another friend. I worry about doing a new installation instead of upgrading incase I ruin the start screen and the BIOS.

Should worry about upgrading windows vista to windows 7, although I have the recovery disk from toshiba for windows vista Enterprise 32-bit product? I prefer to do a new installation

I can be contacted by e-mail. The address is [email protected]

    Hey,.

If you have the Toshiba Recovery disk everything is perfect and nothing can happen. :)

You can start with the installation of Windows 7, but you already wrote I would have preferred a clean install, because it would be faster and more stable. In which case it would be wrong to be something you can restore the original Vista with all the drivers and tools every time because you have the Toshiba Recovery disk :)

Windows installation doesn t affect the start screen (Toshiba) and the BIOS. Windows has absolutely nothing to do with it.

Then n t worry these things there. Insert and boot from the Windows 7 disc and follow the instructions on the screen. If something goes wrong use the recovery disc.

  • No audio after upgrading to windows 7. SoundBlaster card is installed

After the upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit), I found that my speakers (which are integrated into my HP w2207 monitor) are not recognized.  In the notification area, I have the speaker with a Red Cross in it, and he said: "no Audio output device is installed".

I have a HP Pavilion D4890Y with Sound Blaster Audigy X - FI 24 - Bit Xtreme Sound card.  I tried looking in the Device Manager and found "Multimedia Audio Controller" under the other heading, stipulating that no driver could not be found.

I tried following some of the tips online and downloaded the latest Realtek High Definition Audio drivers, but the download seems to work fine, and I don't notice any difference.  When I reboot as prompted, I still have the same error.

I then tried to force the Audio device to use a driver Realtek, but protests from Windows (saying that is not sure that it is compatible with my device and I find myself with "Realtek High Definition Audio" under "Audio, video and game controllers", but it has a yellow exclamation point.  If I click Properties, the device status says "this device cannot start (Code 10)". If I try to update the driver, I get the message that it can not find the driver software.   If I uninstall the driver, I'm back to the original problem (multimedia audio controller under original devices, with no known driver).

I also tried to download various files on the Creative site, but we don't know which to use, and 4 or 5 different ones that I tried (including their recommended for Windows 7 beta version), when each of them opens, it is said he doesn't get supported devices.

    Suggestions?  Thank you!

You upgrade form win7 for another "version" of windows 7. Thus, all programs will suffer anyway. More during the upgrade, the installer would say the compatibility of all programs.

    Hello

Uncertain about the nature of the problem, but if you have used an older driver that could help?

    Something like that

    https://community.AMD.com/thread/185041

    http://support.AMD.com/en-us/download/desktop/legacy?product=legacy2&OS=Windows%208%20-%2064

The downloaded drivers AMD and its GOLDEN!

-To install all components of the pilot normally (Catalyst Control Center etc.)
-> Graphics driver itself not - you need to install manually by using the Device Manager!

-Open Device Manager (right click on the start icon in the left corner), go to "graphics card".
-Right-click on the map and select 'Update driver... '. "in the context menu (first entry)
-Click 'Find a driver on the computer' (2nd entry)
-Click on "Select driver from list.
-Click on the "Device" button... "in the right corner
-Select the driver file (* .inf) in the folder extracted from ATI. In my case, it was C:\AMD\Support\13-1-legacy_vista_win7_win8_64_dd_ccc\Packages\Drivers\Display\W86A_INF.
There are a few different files, it seems that the dialog box choose the right when you simple select one of them... TRY FIRST! Otherwise, you might try reading the .inf files (they are just plain text files - maybe you will find your chipset in there...)
-Click OK, the dialogue will now see one or two entries that should bear the name of your graphics card - select one of them
-Click next - the screen will go black and flicker, you will hear the sounds of connection/disconnection of the device several times. Do not worry, everything works as expected!
-The driver must now be ready - reboot your system and you should now be able to control your graphics settings using the Catalyst Control Center.
