  It is OEM, sale retail or Volume Licensing? If it is OEM, the tile should be on your CPU. If it's retail, should be on the back of the box. If it's VL, then you should see in https://eopen.microsoft.com.

If it's a computer with a retail version of Windows 7 64-bit, collect any proof of purchase of your friend or you have to the Win 7 retail and contact the team of complementary pieces of Microsoft. If you have evidence convincing or compelling property of the product, they will provide installation media nd the corresponding key. There is a charge.

  If Windows 8 was preinstalled, no product key is required.  It has built in a chip inside your computer and detected automatically.  You won't need to type.

  You can only get a new product key when buying a new copy of Windows.
