    Original title: Safe Mode

You can start either home or Pro in SafeMode by this technique...

Keep F8 hitting twice a second immediately after you have switched on the PC. You should get a boot menu where safe mode is selectable using the up/down arrow keys.

Or, use the msconfig utility. When you do it this way, Windows starts in SafeMode permanently until you reverse the changes in msconfig...

    • Click Start
    • Click on run
    • Type msconfig and press enter
    • Click on the CHEST. INI tab

  • How can I save my win drive-dell inspiron 6400

I have an inspiron 6400 and want to to back up drive c: (win)

I install norton ghost 2003. but it shows this error: unalble to find free mbr slot in the dll of the virtual partition. This is usually because there is no slot free primary partition left on the startup disk.

How can I backup my drive with norton ghost 2003 or another program win.

This restore disk from dell with 3 GB of storage is for what.

    TNX.

    Hi Hamid390,

This problem occurs when the computer has exhausted all the four primary partitions in the table to partition of the boot drive. An extended partition takes a prime location, in order to have three primary partitions and an extended partition would also cause this problem.

Start the computer from a startup disk Ghost rather than a Ghost virtual Partition. You can use the Ghost boot Wizard to create a Standard Ghost Book disc for this purpose.

Repartition this disk. If you re-partition the drive, make sure that you create backups of your data before doing so.

For more information, you can also check for a link: http://bit.ly/Qvwpaw

I know if that restore drive are you referring?

Is - Dell Datasafe online? If so, Dell DataSafe Online to protect your music, photos and other important files by placing copies of backup to a secure storage site using your internet connection. For your security all data is encrypted and compressed before leaving your computer.

  • How can I uninstall/reinstall Win 7 Home

I can uninstall and reinstall Win 7 Home I'm having all kinds of problems, crashed, black screen, I have tried all the diagnostics. memory diagnostic will not end.  Thank you.

If your computer is pre-installed with Windows 7 Home Premium:

New computers coming often pre-installed with Windows 7 have what is called a recovery partition. This is used to reinstall an operating system in the case of a system failure. To access it, you need to start when you start your computer by pressing a function key. This can be either F1, F2, F9, F10, F11, F12 key DEL or tab. See the manual that came with your PC for instructions on how to reinstall Windows.

This is how the recovery partition is available for the most popular brands

For Dell, press CTRL + F11 directly after switching on the device

For HP, press F11 directly after switching on the device

For Toshiba, press and hold "0" BEFORE and during the power upward

For Acer, press and hold ALT + F10, as soon as you see the logo

For Samsung: Press the F4 key to the Samsung logo when you turn first.

For Asus, press F9, as soon as you see the Asus logo.

Advent, restart your computer. Then, press F10 repeatedly until the message "Starting system recovery"

If you have a retail copy of Windows 7 Home Premium on DVD:

Boot from the Windows 7 DVD

To learn how to change your BIOS options to boot from the DVD drive, the following tutorial:

    http://notebooks.com/2011/05/05/How-to-load-BIOS-and-change-boot-configuration/
    Click Install now
    Accept the license agreement
When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)

Select the disk partition where you want to install Windows 7 click Next.

You will receive the following warning:

The partition you have selected may contain files from a previous Installation of Windows. If so, these files and folders will be moved to a folder named Windows.old. You will be able to access the information in Windows.old, but you will be able to use your previous version of Windows.

(At all costs, do NOT click on anything in Format, deletion or Partition name.) So even do a custom installation, your personal files are still kept. Click OK

The installation program will now begin installation. During installation, your computer will be restarted several times.

Once the installation is complete, you can complete the Out of Box experience as the choice of your laptop, create a username, password, your time zone. You can then proceed to download the latest updates for Windows and reinstall your applications and drivers.

You can then retrieve your personal files from the Windows.old folder and reinstall all of your applications and drivers.

  • How can I solve this win xp recovery / install problem?

    Hello

I made a backup of the Vista installation that comes with the new laptop about 3 DVD.
Now, I'm launching discs (Win XP Pro) product Toshiba recovery media to install Win XP instead.

The Toshiba product recovery media consists of a 1 CD + 1 DVD (for Toshiba Satellite Pro L300)

When I boot on the CD is installed an OS Ramdisk (great work!) and then I get a message saying...

«Windows cannot find ' X:BIN\TOSDIALOG.» EXE' make sure you typed the name correctly and try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click search. "(OK button)

    Perhaps X: is the Ramdisk.
When I press OK the message he repeats two times, and then the computer restarts. The screen is blank behind the message and nothing else can be used.

When I try to boot from the DVD nothing happens.
I run the CD or DVD to the top in Vista there is no reading auto or any obvious ways to start the recovery process.

I must be missing something simple.

    Please can someone help?

    I was a little confused m
You bought this laptop with pre-installed Vista OS and have created a recovery Toshiba (DVD) disk that contains the operating system Vista.

Now, you want to install Win XP.
Have you received this disc Win XP from Toshiba?
It is the recovery disk good for the right laptop model?

Usually, if you want to retrieve the OS from the recovery disk you need to start using this disc and the installation should run automatically

My Office HARD drive had a fatal accident and poster now under vacuum. It was a disk of 1 TB with Win 7 Pro upgrade to Win 8 Pro.I have records of origin 32 and 64 bit OS and wish to install the OS on a SSD using the optical drive on my Sony Vaio, which will become then the boot drive in my office.

    [Moved from comments]

You must do the installation on the desktop. You can not install windows on the disk into a computer and then move the disk to another computer and do work. When installation is complete, it reads information from the BIOS of the computer, on which it is installed and when you put the disc in another computer that Windows does not find the information used during the installation.

You will need to put the new drive in the desktop, install Windows 7 on it, then upgrade to Windows 7 to Windows 8 again.

  • CC doesn't keep saying im logged in too many computers, how can I disable the Win Vista?

For starters, I have Win7 and Vista machine.  I installed CC at a time.  The Vista machine is mostly dead so I disabled everything on it.  We got a new machine of Win8 and I redownloaded CC to that.  Now everytime I open a program from Adobe on the machines of 7 or 8, Im always told Im logged on more than 2 computers already with the option to save out of machines now or try again.  I said to disconnect each machine and then I can get it.  but when I open a program on the other machine, I get the same thing.  So I tell myself that I have not properly disabled Vista machine somehow, or 'turn it off from all the machines' is not actually turning off vista and not really know what else to do.  How to do everything the machine Vista completely?  He works, for the most part, so any changes I have to do, I should be able to do

    Hi drfugawe,

Thank you for using answers Forum.

You should be able to access Windows Update > "select updates to install", right-click on the IE8 update and click "hide update".

This is to prevent the update to settle in the future.

Please let us know if that helps.

  • How can I update my Windows XP Professional for Windows 7/Vista?

I am running Windows XP Professional. My computer has 768,50 MB if physical memory with 538,99 MB of available space. Virtual memory is 2,00 GB, with 1.95 GB available. Can I upgrade to Windows 7 or Vista?

Original title: I am running Windows XP Professional.

    Hello

With Vista or Windows 7, what what Microsoft says, you really need a minimum of RAM 2GBs for them to work reasonably.

Go to your computer / computer laptop manufacturer Web site and see if Windows 7 drivers are available for your make and model computer / laptop.

If this is not available, Windows 7 will not properly work for you.

Run the "Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/en-US/Download/details.aspx?ID=20

Check if your specifications are compatible for Windows 7:

"Windows 7 Compatibility Center" for software and hardware:

  • How can I connect on Windows XP Professional as an administrator?

Something changed my admin password. I am the only owner and user on this laptop...

I get the error of admin rights whenever I make a change to my system programs.

It has probably nothing to do with your password.

The quick check to see if you have administrator privileges is to right-click on 'start '.  If one of the options that appear in the pop-up window is "open all users", then probably have administrator privileges.

To check, the long run is to open a command prompt window (start-> Run-> "cmd") and enter the command:
    net localgroup administrators
This will provide a list of all users with administrator privileges.

Even an administrator can be deprived of rights to a file or a directory that can cause the error you receive.  The group administrator has the right to change the rights, however.  It is likely that some malware has gotten into your system and modified access rights of authorization in a directory of keys for the Administrators group.  Try to run a program like Malwarebytes freeware to search for possible infections.

    JW
