How can I reset the settings in Windows Explorer?

In Windows Explorer, I found a strange behaviour. Double click on a folder in the right pane, under "Name" opens a new window, but it is the search engine. To change this, I clicked Tools - Folder Options - File Types and found 2 symbols of file with Extensions (NONE). Called him "File Folder", the other was called "folder". Looking for their settings by clicking Advanced, I found 'find' to the file and 'explorer' and 'open' sub-folder.

I edited the file file Type by adding 'Explorer' and 'open' and put ' exploration ' by default which is in bold it.

The first syptom disappeared and no window of 'research' more open unexpectedly, but the new window opens in a new window instead of the same window. It made no difference by changing the setting in Tools - Folder Options - general - browse folders: open each folder in the same window/open each folder in a window own tis.

Also, I couldn't explore to memorize the settings of my privileged point of view: details. It is always default to tiles.

Hello

Have you tried to Folder Options > view > reset records? It is the button in the top right.

You can change these views by changing the settings of view Windows Explorer.

Click on view and then add the status bar and change the display option for the icons (I like to use the details).

But sometimes these settings will return to default. Even if you click on apply to all folders, settings may return by default.

One thing you can try is to set your favorite view, then instead of closing the window using the X in the upper right corner, close it via the file menu. This is known to keep the settings in place for some time.

Another solution to the problem is to reset the point of view of folder.

To do the following:

1. start the registry (Regedit.exe) editor.

2. look for the following key in the registry:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam\BagMRU

and

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam\Bags

3. make sure that you back up the key by exporting them to a .reg file.

4 remove the keys. You've just turned XP out-of-the-box settings.

5. close the registry editor.

6. restart your computer.

7 customize your folder view.

8. now the new views of folder must remain in place.

  • How can I clear the history in Windows Explorer at the same time?

    Hi all

If I right click on the Windows Explorer icon in the task bar, I see a history of the issues explored. How can I clear this list both? The only way I see is to remove each one folder at a time where I started but quickly realized that it would take a lot of time.

I'm clearly not fire all wood today so I apologize once again.

These records listed are part of the jump list for Windows explore.  Right-click on the Start button & select Properties, and then select Customize.

At the bottom of the dialog box, set the number of recent items to display in jump lists to 0.  This will affect all the other lists of shortcuts as well.

  • How can I refresh the thumbnails in Windows Explorer?

In Windows 7, Windows Explorer tries to display the contents of the subfolders under icon. It is a great way to see what is in multiple folders at the same time.

However, when I create a new folder, it is assigned to the default folder icon - and I find no way of refreshing it once I added some content in the folder.

Here is a screencap of some of my music files - highlighted that now contained in it, but I can't make it look like the records around her:

In Windows XP, you could do this by right-clicking on the icon and choosing "Refresh thumbnail" in the context menu. This is not an available option in Windows 7, at least that I see.

    Any input greatly appreciated!

    Hmmm...
Do you already run cleaning Manager and delete the cache of thumbnails?

    Cleanmgr %SystemRoot%\System32\Cmd.exe/c /sageset:65535 & /sagerun:65535 Cleanmgr

    Hello Cosmicbbb,

Thank you for your message.  If you want to withdraw your option set to the option "Turn off computer", you can make the following registry edit.
Click Start > click Run > type regedit and press "Enter."
    Navigate to:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ACPI\Parameters.
Right-click in the empty space in the right pane and select new | DWORD value.
    Attribute value name
    Then, double-click attributes
Make sure hexadecimal is selected by breaking 70
Click OK, close the registry editor and restart.
Now when you choose to stop the computer in the start menu in XP, you will not be able to choose the day before by accident.

Windows Photo Gallery.  How can I change the settings in the Windows Photo Gallery to automatically open the image without going to the index first?

Additional information: there are 2 computers that I use on the first Gallery Photo of Windows will open the image and allow me to use the left and right buttons to scroll through the rest of the photos in the folder, that's what I want.

On the 2nd computer when I open an image it will open the Windows Photo Gallery in an index with thumbnails of the displayed record.  How can I change so that it opens the same thing as the first computer?

I did the following on both computers; Right-click on the image and select open with...--> choose the default program--> go--> Program Files, Windows Photo Gallery, but it will be open always differently on computer 2.

Both computers use Windows Vista 32-bit.

    Thanks in advance.
