How can I "fix" windows media player which is slow to start verrry
When I click on WMP, the frame will appear immediately, but takes a long time to open.
Hello
Welcome to the Microsoft Community and forums thanks for posting the question. According to the description, Windows Media Player is very slow when starting. We will analyze and identify the cause of the problem.
1. is this confined problem only with Windows Media Player?
2. are you aware of changes to the computer before the show?
Method 1:
You can run the Windows media player settings Troubleshooter and check if that helps.
See the link below to run the troubleshooter.
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/open-the-Windows-Media-Player-settings-Troubleshooter

We clear the Windows Media Player database. To do this, follow these steps:
Step 1:
1. exit Windows Media Player.
2. click on start, run, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Media Player, and then click OK.
3. Select all the files in the folder, and then click delete on the file menu.
Note: You don't have to remove the folders that are in this folder.
4 restart the Windows Media Player.
Note: Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.
Step 2:
If this does not resolve the problem, disable the Windows Media Player database cache files.
To do this, follow these steps:
1. exit Windows Media Player .
2. click on Start, run, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoftand then click on OK.3. Select the Media Player folder, and then click delete on the file menu.

How can I make Windows Media player the default player of my browser.
I can't listen to the station for WYSL 1040 AM radio on the web. They say that the default player on my browser must be Windows Media Player. How to respect their demand?
In Firefox, it's the MIME type that determines which player is selected.
Install the new WMP plugin (np - mswmp.dll), you have only the classic WMP plugin (Npdsplay dll)

Hello
When you download a video from a camera, he recorded under ".mov" and plays in the time of quick, this format doesn't work in windows movie maker, so how can I configure windows as my default media player so I can use downloaded video in movie maker?
Convert your. MOV files to the. WMV format
before the import into Movie Maker would be your
best bet. There are to many converters available on the net...
the following programs are some examples:(FWIW... it's always a good idea to create a system)
Restore point before installing software or updates)(1) free video converter Freemake
http://www.Freemake.com/free_video_converter/
(Requires .NET Framework 4)(2) format Factory
http://www.videohelp.com/tools/Format_Factory
(the 'direct link' is faster)
(the file you want to download is: > FFSetup260.zip<>
(FWIW... installation..., you can uncheck
('all' boxes on the last screen)First, you will need to decompress the file or just open the
Drag FFSetup260.exe out of the folder
and drop it on your desktop. To install left click.(3) Xilisoft Video Converter

(it of not freeware but gets good reviews)Good luck...

How can I reset the Player Windows Media in Windows Vista Home Basic to use the songs on my external backup drive instead of (or in addition to) the songs on my desktop hard drive? Currently, the Media Player library indicates that the hard drive (C:\) is my only option of disks to use for sources of songs.
Basically, I want to have Media Player external drive for all the songs from research and build his library on this disc instead of on the C:\ drive. My problem is that the songs are hogging too much space on my hard drive, so I want to move to my external drive to backup instead, but Media Player will not access it. I saw an option in Media Player to add a song to a different drive to the library whenever I play a song of this player, but that would require me to play all the songs moved one at a time, which is not practical, and which would not solve my problem because Media Player could still be maintaining the library on my HDD to say.Any ideas?Thank you.Hello

How can I prevent Windows Media Player rebuilds with duplicate songs, that I deleted?
I moved my music files in Windows Media player for this computer with a 1 TB harddrive that I use just for storing music on. When I moved the music files from the computer Windows XP first putting them on a hard drive for the copy and paste and then transfer them to the hard drive of my M:\ the drive on this computer, many duplicates were transferred. I want to remove duplicates. I did this by pressing Ctrl and pointing out the duplicates and then pressing DELETE, and they are then deleted. But after that, it is a small blue arrow that goes down in the lower-right corner of Windows Media player from up and said "Equalization of the Volume" followed by the names of the songs, that is to say several times. M:\.... "For Windows Media player media recovery and rebuild as if it was before I deleted the duplicate songs? I want to also all my songs to be the mp3 type and some are mp4, so how do I fix all the songs to make them of type mp3. Thanks for any help.
MP4 is usually a video file, I honestly didn't even know MP4 pourrait be used for audio, but this is beyond my skills. I know that to convert files types, you will need to download a conversion program, Microsoft is no not any program that can do this.
As for the deleted files that appears, open the Organize menu at the top of the media player, select 'manage libraries' and make sure that it is scanning the correct files.
If the correct files are analyzed and double presents itself once again, right click on a song in double and select properties to find its location. And then delete it from here, rather than media player directly.

How can I block Windows media player-all function or video?
OK, I have one of four newspapers-ons in my pc that is locked down pretty tight where the only thing I want to work is word processor (WordPerfect and starting Word version). My teenage son has impulse control issues, which gives more access means that it is wandering and not on the task. Theoretically, he likes to play music while working on school assignments (writing) on the computer. The problem is that apparently in addition to the execution of music files already resident on our pc and external drive, he inserted DVD in the dvd player and movies run (secretly) that are played to use the features of Windows media player. My preference would be to hell video functionality or the ability to use the DVD drive under this opening of session and leave the ability of audio file. Is there a way to do this?
Alternatively, if I install another drive, can I block the video features of a different player and block the drive windows completely?
Hi Akphoneguy,
We understand that you want to restrict your teenager using Windows Media Player to play the video file but without impact on music files. However, the feature that you are curious about is currently not available in Family Safety. It can only restrict the entire working application and not a specific feature within the application. If you think that restrict certain features of any application is a convenient feature to have safe family, we suggest that submit you it as a feature request to Microsoft who appreciates your comments and considers that the suggestion of a future versions. Here is the link where you can fill out our feedback form.
In regards to your idea to install a new drive and Windows Media Player blocking completely, as now, we have no information for the player who can perform the function you are looking for. We can only suggest what to look for any media player that may able to do using your search engine preferred.
If you have any other questions, do not hesitate to reply to this message and we will do our best to help you.

How can I install Windows Media Player 10 on Windows 7?
I'm under edition Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. After you download WMP 10 from the Microsoft Web site, I get an error telling me that it is a 32-bit program that is only compatible with Windows XP. Lack of Media Player 11 of Advanced edition tag doesn't help, so I'm quite need a version 10. Is there a way around this problem?
You can still install WMP 10 in (virtualized) of Windows 7 XP Mode .
Moreover, the version of WMP which is included with Windows 7's WMP 12. Advanced edition tag was just removed WMP 12 and is still available in WMP 11, so you can install this newer version instead.
Also, advanced editable tag in WMP 12, you can take a look to the Windows Media Player Plus! plugin, which adds a new WMP tag editor.
