  Version 8 iMovie is not compatible with El Capitan, so you must upgrade to iMovie 10.1.2. To connect to the App Store and look under the purchased Tab. Find iMovie and Garage Band. If they are not there, it may be that the free updates are not available in iMovie 8. I'm not sure about this. They are free to version 9.   First, you must use the page to Toshiba display driver.
