Of course, you can install WXP on U300 and you can do this by using the facilities of Microsoft CD. Is very important to have the Storage Manager. This utility is needed to proceedings WXP facilities for the recognition of the HARD drive. You can save it on the floppy drive and import it using the F6 key at startup of installations of Windows XP Home edition.

Visit the Toshiba support under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com page > support & downloads. There you can find all the drivers of Windows XP Home for U300. at the first checkpoint Installations Instructions document and use this list for installing drivers, tools and utilities. Follow the exact order of installations.

    Bye and good luck!

In the case where someone boots into existence no reference of Vista, the systems does not crash but goes in a loop in question, try to Boot. By answering the questions, the system takes you to the initial question, with "an earlier version of Windows or Vista? How can I eliminate this? It is not a problem, once you know you have to select "older version", but if you do not, the timer runs out and trying to boot Vista. Your master boot record think you still have Vista.

You can fix this since the XP Recovery Console.

You can start RC since a genuine XP bootable installation CD or make you a CD bootable XP Recovery Console using these instructions:

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic276527.html

After booting into the Recovery Console, you should be in this folder:

    C:\WINDOWS

Enter the following command and answer Yes to the warning:

    FIXMBR

Enter the following command and answered in the affirmative:

    Fixboot

Remove the Console CD recovery and type 'Quit' to restart your system.

    > I do not understand why Toshiba put a 32 bit OS on a 64 bit system with 4 GB of RAM!
I don't understand not that too, but also other computer manufacturers that do as well.
The point is that 32-bit operating systems are highly sought after because of the compatibility with other software and applications from external suppliers.

Perhaps, this is one of the main reasons why most laptop computers are preinstalled with OS 32-bit.

    Hello

First of all, it would be desirable to create Toshiba Recovery DVD before you install or remove anything from the HARD drive.
The recovery DVDs is a hot spare that could be useful to restore the laptop to factory settings.
This means that if you want to retrieve the Vista on your laptop, you should only use the recovery disc then the whole package Vista with Toshiba drivers, tools and additional software would be back on the HARD drive.

Secondly it s not wrong to install Win XP on the C partition. I mean you can install Win XP on different partitions, but if you want to replace Vista with XP you could install XP on partition C too.

I don't know if XP drivers are available for this series from Mr. phone what series is this exactly? Check the bottom of the unit. On the label, you should find a few model numbers

  • HP G60 - 127CL with XP laptop hardware Downgrade from Vista to XP question

We have recently bought a HP G60-127 CL laptop and downgraded the OS from Vista to XP Professional with SP3 home.  I found all the drivers and installed them.  All pilots show that "working properly" and everything works except the network controller (wireless I think).  When I go to Device Manager, then in the other devices section, it says "network controller" with yellow?  Note: I installed the driver wireless adapter lan Broadcom 802.11 including hp recommended, rebooted, but still does not work.  I tried reinstalling the drivers, installation of versions of different driver, installation of service pack 3, reinstall XP, etc, but nothing works.  My network card works fine, so I figure that he need Wireless Lan because I can't turn on.  Any ideas?

Here is the answer. It's an Atheros card not a Broadcom. Atheros AR5009.

I see I can't use Windows Easy Transfer.  I backed up everything on the external hard drive.  Y at - it sort of just download everything from the external hard drive (using "restore", for example?) without crushing everything in the same programs in windows 8.1?  Or do I have to copy everything whole again, one by one?

    Hello

How to copy your data files from Vista to 8.1

    Vista machine:

Open the Windows Explorer in Vista (or Documents, music, images, etc.) > have a connected external hard drive or USB key > go to the files you want to transfer > right click on the files you want to transfer > hover the mouse on "send to" > select the external hard drive.

    8 machine:

Plug USB > open the file Explorer > copy files anywhere in the correct folders.

  • How can I downgrade Satellite Pro A200GE-1F9 company from Vista to XP Pro?

    Hello

I just took delivery of a "Toshiba Satellite Pro A200GE-1F9 - Core 2 Duo T7300 2 GHz - 15.4"TFT".» Great laptop, but the operating system is very slow... transfer files, access to the internet.

I understand that the license allows me to downgrade to XP. The question is how can I do this, because this operating system is not ready for the technology on my laptop.

1 Toshiba provide me with a XP OS disk?
2 Toshiba provide me with new XP drivers for my laptop?
    3. I have trouble with XP recognizing my hard drive due to the SATA drives.

Vista is useless because it does so not. Even Microsoft are allowing users to downgrade - please see below.

Here are a few notes I found on the web

    **********************
Can I downgrade my OEM of Windows version

Vista business to Windows XP Professional? Yes. Right of demotion OEM desktop operating systems PC apply to Windows Vista business and Windows Vista Edition full, as stated in the terms of the license. Please note, downgrade versions OEM Windows Vista business and Windows Vista Ultimate are limited to Windows XP Professional (including Windows XP Edition Tablet PC and Windows XP x 64 edition). End users can use the following media for their downgrade: Volume Licensing media (provided that the end-user has a Volume License Agreement), trade retail (FPP) or System Builder hologram CD (provided that the software is acquired in accordance with the Microsoft OEM System Builder License). Use of degraded operating system is governed by the Windows Vista Business license terms, and the end user cannot use the downgrade and professional Windows Vista operating system. There is no right of demotion for Windows Vista Home Basic or Windows Vista Edition Home Premium.

    ***********************

If you want Windows XP Pro on a new machine, Windows Vista (Business or Ultimate), and then downgrade
I don't know how many people is aware of this, but if you buy a Windows Vista Business or Ultimate then you can use a Windows XP CD (that you have legal access to) to load Windows XP on this machine.

When you need the product key / or need to activate, it will potentially fail, but a simple call to with your Vista product key activation center should give you all the details you need. Then, when you're ready to put Vista on this machine, you can do without the purchase of this new cost. Alternatively, you can buy Windows XP today and if you want to load Vista, you can give more money to a store for a copy again.

For more information, go to http://oem.microsoft.com/script/sites/public/licensing.htm

    Hello

First of all thanks for the information on the downgrade of the OEM of Windows version.

I bought my Satellite with Vista and it would be nice that I would get a XP for free.

But to be honest I'm not really sure if Microsoft will activate Win XP after buying the Vista operating system. But who knows, maybe you should say with the support of Microsoft.

To my knowledge, you will not get any additional operating system from Toshiba, but only the Toshiba Recovery CD.
Each Toshiba laptop has been delivered with the recovery CD that contains the Microsoft operating system (XP or Vista), drivers Toshiba and utilities.

That's all. If you lose the recovery CD, you can order the same CD/DVD with the same operating system of the authorized Toshiba service provider!

But like I said above, a retirement details you should specify it with MS is supported.

If you get more information from MS, please report it here in this thread. It s interesting theme.

  • How can I move from Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 hp? Is it better to buy the software disk or download the software?

My Hp Pavilion Elite M9340F desktop PC was the best computer I've ever owned five computers desktop and portable three. Hello

It's always a good idea to have a paper copy of a disc (for resettlement and repairs).

And Yes, backup all your data as 'can' happen during an upgrade that is supposed to be easy.

This is a very good guide for what you want to do:

Make sure you go from Vista 32 bit to Windows 7 32 bit to be able to do an upgrade.

«How To Upgrade from Vista to Windows 7 Edition Home Premium»

    http://www.howtogeek.com/HOWTO/6892/how-to-perform-an-upgrade-from-Vista-to-Windows-7/

    And follow these steps first:

Go to the HP website and see if Windows 7 drivers are available for your make and model computer / laptop.

    http://WWW8.HP.com/us/en/support-drivers.html

If this is not available, Windows 7 will not properly work for you.

Run the "Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/en-US/Download/details.aspx?ID=20

Check if your specifications are compatible for Windows 7:

    "Windows 7 system requirements"

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/products/system-requirements

"Windows 7 Compatibility Center" for software and hardware:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/compatibility/Windows-7/en-us/default.aspx

    Windows 7 upgrade paths:

    http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd772579 (v = ws.10) .aspx

And the Microsoft Store where you can get an idea of the price of Windows 7:

    http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msstore/en_US/list/CategoryID.50726100

For other questions about installing Windows 7, there is a Forum specifically for that because it is the Forum of Installation of Vista, you're in.

    See you soon.

    Hello
Having some difficulty understanding what it is I should do before installing a new upgrade of windows 7. I have the disk to upgrade, but discovered only today I now have to perform a customized installation because I'm upgrading from vista home premium to windows 7 Professional.

So, this means that all program etc. files must also be backed up as well as the usual save multimedia files, photos, etc..

HOW HOW HOW do I save my program files for example office microsoft, mcafee internet sicurity? Is it as simple as the copy on a CD/DVD-R?

    IM so confused, please help!

You cannot save programs and then copy them to another system.

You must reinstall them from the original media. Make sure you have all the license keys you need to reinstall before you start.

    Hi guys

    I would like to add that the Satellite A200 - 1 M 4 belongs to the * PSAE0E * series.

This series needs a BIOS update after installing XP.
The European driver Toshiba page provides a special version of Win XP BIOS.

This document provides the proper installation order which is very important to get all the drivers and tools work properly.

    Hello

Downgrade from Vista to XP isn t possible. Therefore, you must make a clean and new Windows XP installation. You wrote that you get a BSOD if you start from XP disc, what code BSOD is it exactly?

I guess you only need drivers SATA to install XP. Have you installed them?
In addition I recommend read the discussions here in the forum about it. You'll have hundreds of them! ;)
