How do you play dubbed audio or subtitles in Windows Media Center Extender (Xbox 360)?

I know how to turn subtitles on my Windows Media Center PC, but there is no option to select audio dubbed or subtitled when you use Windows Media Center Extender. All my video files contain subtitles and audio dubbed foreign films.  My wife loves Spanish subtitles, because she has trouble understanding some English films.  I searched some forums and there are questions there but they have no definitive answers.  How a company billions of dollars developing a Media Center and leave out or miss crucial features like these? Please do not react with the thread on how to activate subtitles in TV Mode. Which does not apply to this question. The key word is EXTENDERS.

Hi AnthonyWilson5

Subtitles should be coded in the movie view. These subtitles are automatically playing with video files. If the subtitles are a separate .srt file, then you will not be able to visualize everything by watching a video on the 360. There is no real turn option ON or OFF for subtitle in the Xbox 360.

But for more information you can even try to contact the expert Microsoft Xbox 360 team. Please visit the links below to find a community that will support what ask you in the right direction for Xbox 360.

I hope this helps.

Please note that on Windows 7, Windows Media Player and Media Center make use of media of Windows (WMF) framework Foundation instead of DirectShow for playback of certain types of files. Consequently, the DirectShow like DirectVobSub subtitle filters are not used.

WMF is used for the following formats: MPEG, WMV, MP4, MOV, M2TS. Other file such as AVI and MKV formats, Microsoft players are (in most cases) able to display subtitles.

I used to listen to music from my pc to my xbox recently just windows media center extender. but when I play certain songs, I get an error that says: an error has occurred and may not play a few songs, but some of my other songs play fine. When I went to look at my library, I noticed that some of the songs had a yellow padlock in front of the icon. I looked through the properties and could not understand anything the thing he looked the same as a normal file for me. any ideas?

Looks like that the songs can be protected by DRM (Digital Rights Management). You are able to play the same songs with Windows Media Player?

  • Why not subtitles in Windows Media Center? __

I see no subtitles in Windows media center.  I have the .srt and .avi, the same files in the same folder.  I use win 7 64-bit ultimate.

I searched and read about hacks registry, codecs and other things that I do not understand.  I read on the codec bibles that have me laying the boards of 7 or 8 of the software.  I have downloaded the CCCP codec pack and uninstalled then after he has not helped (there was a long list of settings that I didn't get in this one).

Microsoft has impossible subtitles for non geeks?

    Any help would be appreciated.

I had read your answer before.  I don't seem to know how to take ownership of these files.  Access is denied, tried to change the permissions and access has been denied.  I don't know what to rename the files, even if I was allowed to rename them.  Could you be a little more detailed and accurate?

I repeat-Microsoft did make the impossible subtitles for the non-geeks ?

Perform the following steps with each of the six files listed before:

    1. Right-click on the file
    2. Select "Properties".
    3. Select the security"" tab.
    4. Click on "Edit"... »
    5. Click on "Add..." »
    6. Enter your user name, and then click OK
    7. Select your username from the list
    8. Check the 'Total control' / 'allow '.
    9. Click on 'OK '.

Now you should be able to rename the file.

If the procedure seems too complicated for you, you can download and install thislittle tool . It will add that 'Ownership' in the context menu of files, so all you have to do is click right button of mouse on the file and select 'ownership '.

    Good luck.

  • I tried to open Windows Media Center, but this message keeps popping up "you are connected as a guest. Windows Media Center requires a non-invite account. »

I have problems with my account. I have a laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium, I tried to open Windows Media Center, but this message keeps popping up "you are connected as a guest. Windows Media Center requires a non-invite account. If you change your account type, contact the owner of this system. A similar message appears when I try to install the updates there are no other accounts on my computer and it still says I am admin.

    Hello

Have you made changes on the computer before this problem?

It seems a problem with missing or damaged system files. I would suggest trying the following methods and check if it helps.
    Method 1:
Let flow the Microsoft Safety Scanner and check if it helps.
    Microsoft security scanner: http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx
Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. During these 10 days, it will remove all the files infected by the virus and records. I suggest you create a backup of your data, and then install Microsoft Safety Scanner.

    Method 2:
Run the scan tool (SFC) System File Checker and check if it helps.
How to use the System File Checker tool to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files on Windows Vista: http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833

    Method 3:
Try to create a new user account and check if it helps.
    Create a user account: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/Windows-vista/Create-a-user-account
If the problem is resolved in the new user account, this means that the old user profile is damaged. Here is the link to repair a user account damaged: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/Fix-a-corrupted-user-profile

    Hope the information is useful.
  • How to read subtitles in Windows Media Center?

Hello! I bought a CD of movie and downloaded subtitles ".srt" for this movie. These subtitles ".srt" run in VLC media player by keeping just the video and the '.srt' in the same folder and two identical file names. But when I play the movie in Windows Media Center, the subtitles do not appear. How do I make them work?

    Hey Mary!
I'm sorry but I don't have the subtitles that are already there in the DVD. As I said, there are no subtitles in the DVD. There was just a .avi file. In VLC Media Player (that I currently use as my primary movie player), simply paste. SRT file in the same folder and check the file of the same name. VLC media player automatically detects and manages the subtitles with video. This technique works for all video formats that work with VLC Media player, includin, .mp4, .m4v, .mkv, .wmv, .avi, etc..

Is that we can run these subtitles .srt (sometimes .sub) with Windows Media Center?

You can, but you must tell the codec to load the subtitles.  I am assuming that you are using ffdshow, in video settings, there is a setting to enable and disable the subtitles, it is a function of the video decoder not the player, VLC comes just at a time.

  • How can I get Bluray look a supported in Windows Media Center on Windows 8 Pro?

I saw no definitive answer anywhere on the support Blu - ray for WMC. Is there a codec download or do I really need to spend $100 + to buy CyberDVD just to watch Blu - Ray? I was on the right track to buy a Blu - ray to my PC player so I could throw the Blu - ray player in total but have read a lot of people say that reading doesn't is not supported even in Windows Media Center for me at this time there should be a standard for Blu - ray support.

Unfortunately, as in Windows 7 there no Blu - ray for the WMC or WMP support in Windows 8 PRO either. You need a separate application for playing Blu Ray.

  • When you try to open a PDF file, Windows Media Center opens

My aunt has Windows Vista on her computer and whenever she tries to open a pdf file that opens Windows Media Center. Is there a way to get Windows Vista to point to Acrobat Reader to open the file, or should it go directly to the RA? Thanks for any help you can give on this subject.

    PS; I don't know if it's 32-bit or 64-bit.

Acrobat Reader or Adobe Reader? Personally, I wouldn't use Adobe at all, but try this. Skip #1 if it is already on the HARD drive.

    Create a file association.

    1. download and save the attachment to the office.
    2. right click on the saved file.
    3. Select: Open with on the shortcut menu.
    4. click on: choose [default] program.
    5. Select: PDF reader program.
    6. check: always use the selected program to open this type of file.
    7. click on OK.
