How my pictures are stored in Lightroom?
I don't sound stupid here, but... I use a demo of Lightroom 3 on a Mac. I have 'imported' 15 GB of photos on a trip of two weeks, in Lightroom. I downloaded the maps and backed up the files on my laptop HD and those imported. If I go to my user > pictures > Lightroom and check the "Lightroom3 catalog.lrcat" it's size is only 8.5 MB.
I thought I knew the lrcat is just a database, then this size would be wise. Then I copied all the 15 GB of photos on an external hard drive, it disconnected and then deleted the photos from my laptop HD.
I can * still * go look at all the photos in Lightroom and apparently I can always export full-size images - I selected about 6 of them and have exported the images full size. Here's the question - I do not understand where they come from.
If lrcat is just a database, where is stored the photos full size? If the database pointing to the original images, which are now deleted, then how Lightroom allows me to export the images full size.
I use Aperture on two other computers, and the photo library is large enough to hold the actual photographs, what he does. That's why I have trouble understanding Lightroom works in terms of storage of full pictures great.
I really appreciate any help to understand how it works all
Thank you very much
Ken
In the library Module, select a photo, and then choose the slideshow menu item / in the Finder. This should show where lightroom is to find your image.

After the upgrade to Windows 10 ALL my pictures are GONE! Lightroom started upward as if it were a completely new program. Tried the Adobe difficulty (all 3 steps) nothing. What now?
Hi lisah64134956
Greetings.
- Please specify what adobe patch are you talking about?
- A you kept a backup pf your LR catalog and images somewhere before moving on to Windows 10.
- You have access to your original images, or they went too?
- Try to search the catalog using windows search, .lrcat is the extension of the catalogue, see if you find something.

Backblaze in particular, but it would be for any backup or future software I guess.
Tags are stored in the file in your catalog. If you want to have them available after a disk crash, you should make regular, automated backups of your catalog on a different physical disk files. You can enable this in Lightroom via settings-> General-> Backup catalog. Note: you should always take backups of your photos, this feature in Lightroom doesn't have backups of your photos.
If at some point you consider moving away from Lightroom, you can also write tags to the photos themselves (or in the case of RAW for the XMP sidecar files). This can be done by selecting all the photos and metadata-> saves the metadata of files (Note: this will take a lot of time if you have selected a large number of photos). You can also turn on the option to automatically catalog settings-->--> write metadata changes automatically to XMP. Any tags written via this method is readable by any other photo app that I know.

When the photos come on an email where they are stored. And why some images upside down?
Thunderbird is an email program and not an image editor. It may or may not understand orientation tags stored within the info of the image if the image is not sent right side up.

My pictures are spread over Lightroom
A recent import I had some photos arrive with a skewed rotation and odd white margins on some. Some in the Group were fine, hit or miss. I contacted Nikon and they had me import in his View NX2 software and they came out fine. Then I tried to import the NX2 software in Lightroom and same problem. Example photo below... someone else had all solutions? Thank you...
Probably you have specified a preset import that uses vertical optical correction.
Or you set a default value using law is applied to the input. To test this (assuming that you do not specify a preset), make a problematic picture appear to develop, hold down the SHIFT key and press the button Reset (Adobe) at the bottom right. If this brings your back to normal picture, hold down the Alt key and press the Set Default... button. and choose 'Restore Adobe Default Settings' in the dialog box that appears.

I'm trying to find out how user passwords are stored in Discoverer
they are not. the discoverer does not maintain the user or password.
the discoverer has 2 ways to connect to the DB, none of them are users created by "Scout":
1 using the database users, so that users and passwords are stored in the db (fnd_users)
2 apps, discoverer users using their oracle application (user, responsibility) connection string.
and here the oracle application keep users and responsibilities.Tamir

How can I move images from Lightroom 5 to Lightroom CC 2015?
I have pictures on lightroom 5 I can ' t in lightroom cc2015 access. Why not all the images moved with the version update?
I tried selecting them and then manually moving them, also exporting them but was not successful. How can I move these images to new version?
Thank you
My suggestions-
1. Uninstall LR5. It out of your system, you use it again.
2. find your catalog file (a file of type. LRCAT) using the operating system (Windows Explorer / Mac Finder)
3. open the xxx. LRCAT file (double click or Right click/open)
As ManiacJoe says above-
LR6/CC will transfer your data LR5 in a new catalog of LR6 format with a "-2" added at the end of the name; your catalog LR5 remains unchanged.
4. When you then open Lightroom, the default catalog will be the converted catalog.
Consider the catalog 'old' LR5 as a backup only. (If you try to open a second time, you will have an another LR6/cc catalog called xxx-2 - 2.lrcat)
AND-you, the pictures are NOT IN LIGHTROOM! They exist in the folders on your computer. The Lightroom Catalog is a database that displays thumbnails that have a 'link' to your photos.
AND you don't have to "Move" anything! Everything remains exactly where it was, (Images, catalog)

How to recharge my hard drive with photos that are stored in iCloud? After installing a new hard drive, there's no pictures found in the Photos, and I get this error, "could not find the picture of system library named"Library.photoslibrary Photos".
Soon as your App Photos or iPhoto lost track of your photo library, or there has not been migrated from your old drive. You can create an empty library and probably enable iCloud photo library for photos to upload to the cloud.

How Lightroom 6 faces are stored?
Before 6 Lightroom, I've been adding a keyword for each person in my pictures so that I can filter by people later. I have about 12 000 photos, with about 6,000 of those photos containing the keywords of the people. I save keywords in files, so that only I have upload photos on Flickr, tags go with them. Now with Lightroom 6, we have the option of faces. I understand that the faces are nothing more than a special kind of keyword of the person. However, I have a few questions about it.
- The keywords of the person are stored in the file when I save the metadata? I'm not so concerned about the regions, I want to just make sure that they can be incorporated into the original file.
- What happens if I take my photos 6 000 existing with standard keywords assigned per person and change these key words to a person? Does it just change the type of keyword, or tried to apply retroactively the areas around faces?
Thank you.
1. no keywords behaves exactly like regular keywords and will be exported as would a regular keyword.
2. change a keyword in a keyword person does not apply the areas around faces, however, the keyword of the person will now be eligible for suggestions of name of face during the completion of a name. This is why it is advisable to change the names of people to key words person before applying a catalogue facial recognition scanning or file/collection. It ensures you pick-up a correctly spelled name.

During the import of my camera or a file in Lightroom 5 my pictures are too exposed by 1-2 stops, while they are well exposed on the screen of the device. How to get the "right-exposed images on the screen?
There is an option in your Lightroom preferences, under the general tab, "treat JPEG files next to raw in form of images". If you have this option is checked, then Lightroom will import and view your first two and JPEG files. You use the active D-lighting on your camera? If you are, you must disable this feature.

Virtual copies are stored in the backups? How can I insert a backup in an existing catalog
I deleted a tif image file that I didn't intend, which had several virtual copies of LR, created from it. Virtual copies had a lot of history important that my impression of the preparation of changes to the document. These virtual copies are saved in the LR backup?
If so, how can I insert in the catalog that I use? I did a lot of changes in the two days since my last backup and don't want to lose this story either. Are you suggesting that I do a backup current prior to extraction of files since I last saved? I know I'm supposed to go to the backup location and open the last backup, but how work with the work during the last 2 days?
Any help would be most appreciated. Thank you, TomHuff says:
This may have been a mistake
It was, but not catastrophic.
Photos in Lightroom are defined by a database ID, not a file name, so you cannot rename them in order to be considered of the same picture as before.
So, theoretically, if master and virtual copy pictures are in your backup, you should be able to import all of them (copies of masters and virtual) - make sure that you remove first did re-imported in your catalog and make sure the name of the source file for tif on disc is identical to the front.
Huff says:
- The section has new Photos, which gives 2 choices of file manipulation: a) add new pictures to the catalog without moving them or b) not to import new photos
- Replacement of A changed existing pictures of the article with 2 options: a) nothing or metadata (b) and develop the power only. If you choose this option you can check a box to preserve old settings as a virtual copy.
1. a) add without moving
2. I thought you were only to add backup photos which no longer exist in the catalog (current) target, in which case it should be no replacement.

Adobe first Clip does not see all the pictures/videos are stored internally
How can I get Adobe first Clip to see all the pictures/videos that I know are stored in the internal memory of my iPhone?
Hi tech-comm-Archbishop there!
Are some of your photos/videos stored in the cloud? For the moment, Premiere Clip does not support storage cloud and all tracks audio/videos/images must be saved locally on your device. Let me know if this fits your situation.
See you soon!

I thought I was missing some files, so I looked at my backup files. I received a 'warning' that Lightroom would restart and display my backup files. I have NOT received any warning, that there is NO GOING BACK! I've tried everything. I can't add a link to ONE of my pictures. Well, I just did an and he told me all the other photos in the folder have been corrupted and Lightroom would not be able to edit (and no, it wasn't an exported .jpeg file). Fortunately, I am not concerned about this issue, that's why I tested it. I have moved all my pictures from my C drive on my D drive because for some reason strange on this computer, my D drive is 5 times bigger and I ran out of room. When I did, I was able to recreate a link to all the photos. Unfortunately, it didn't keep my records, he has them just relinked in chronological order. I can deal with, even if he did find much more difficult shots, but I wasn't about to try to rename one of them and have to recreate a link to the new.
Now, I can't repeat an any of them because it appears in Lightroom that all photos are back on the C drive and as a result, the new pictures that I placed on the D drive aren't there, and nothing is re-issued, period, not even those who was originally on my C drive!
I have never been so aggravated in my life. I you LOVE features of Lightroom. I have version 2.3. When I search on the help online, all I get is how the photos are in some place they have been saved, but they are linked, etc.. I already know that part. I seriously wish that I had NEVER looked at my backup files. I don't think I'll bother backing up stuff more because apparently looking at the backup mess up everything.
I fully expected that I would be able to go back, choose my folders on my D drive and have all my current pictures available. Unfortunately, not.
My user name should be FREAKED OUT!
Great, now go open recent (in the folder) and open the catalog from the other and see if you get them all connected.
