How should I do to upgrade to vSphere

I know there is a lot of update and install the docs in the KB, but I want to hear what are the best real-world scenarios?

Should I move my virtual server to the Center first?

Should I do a clean install on a new server, and vmotion vsphere my VM out of my 3.5 hosts?

Can someone point out the best steps that I need to run first?

Here are the steps in the upgrade process

1 vCenter

2 ESX host

3 VMware Tools.

4. virtual material comments

Upgrading vCenter is quite simple, make sure you just as you have a good backup of your database.  If you have done any installs vCenter you should be fine.  The ESX hosts should be, in my opinion, as a regeneration of working capital.  Migrate each VM on the host to other hosts in the cluster and rebuild... Rinse and repeat.

Then, once all your ESX hosts are ESX4, you can begin the process of updating comments to VMware tools.  Finally, once the comment tools are 'OK' upgrade virtual hardware.

I hope this helps.

This is very unusual.  Two thoughts come to mind.

    1. Your storage space is too full?  Check the settings > general > storage & use iCloud > manage storage (in storage).  Make sure you have at least 10% (hopefully more than 15%) of total storage of your iPhone for free.
    2. Use iTunes (you must use the current version - 12.5.1, as this is the only version supporting iOS 10) to upgrade.  See 'Your device via iTunes update' here: update the iOS on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch - Apple Support software
  • How should I prepare for El Capitan 10.11.2?

    Hi all

As the title asks, how should I prepare for this upgrade?

I had already installed El Capitan 10.11.0, but quickly returned to 10.10.5 after discovering several problems:

1 (2 x 1 x POP, IMAP) e-mail accounts - problems with lack of mailboxes, mail lost, unable to send mail, etc.

    2. Time Machine backups were not held as scheduled when my iMac end of 2013 has been plugged into my ups APC.

    3. casual does not recognize my USB Superdrive.

After the restoration of my old system of Time Machine, I followed several thread on these forums to see what others have experienced with the 10.11.2 release.

My iMac does not have any third-party software with the exception of my HP ENVY 4502 print utility.

How should other ensuring that Time Machine backs up current, I prepare for this facility to ensure that I do not lose important emails from my accounts {2 x iCould (IMAP) and Comcast (POP3) 1 x}?

You know, honestly until that Apple's software team act together and reflection on the QUALITY rather than pretty flowers I'd wait for a few weeks to a month.  Or, at least until more people have put to date to see if there are problems.

So, to answer your question, make sure you have at least 2 strong BACKUPS before you update.

  • I want to buy PHOTOSHOP CS6? How should I do?

I want to buy PHOTOSHOP CS6? How should I do?

You can just buy CS6 now with the greatest difficulty. If you live in the United States, then there is a phone number to call and someone from Adobe will do their best to talk about the madness. If you insist, I think they will sell it to you for $999 if you don't have CS5 to upgrade. If you live in Europe, you find it close impossible to find a dealer who is certified Adobe, which probably means that you will buy a pirated version. Adobe staff here often point out shops Adobe in India and the Middle East, but it means being able to pay in local currency. Here people who have tried these purchase often complain that they are not complete - no doubt as the Indian server knows that you're not in India.

What you need to understand, this is Photoshop CS6 is 'OLD', he wrote in 2010, nobody owns Adobe it developing and is not supported by the patches against security vulnerabilities. There are technical support, but if Adobe is consistent which stops in the next few years which is even worse, he does not get fully supported by modern operating systems. It runs on Windows 10 and El Capitan earlier, but there is no guarantee that it will work on the next version of these two operating systems. So purchase CS6 locks you up in your hardware and software platform today for good - unless you are ready to run on a virtual machine in the future. Finally, if that does not put you off then consider the huge difference in the cost of ownership between Photoshop CC2015 Photoshop CS6. As I said CS6 will cost $1000 to buy, or about $700 for an upgrade, CC Photoshop costs $10 per month and you get Lightroom as well. Ignoring the total superiority of the current version - and it's much better than CS6, as you would expect as its most recent 6 years - you can subscribe to creative cloud for 100 months or 8.3 years before it will cost you more than to own the CS6. Even in this case which ignores the 8 years of updates which are normally priced at $200 a year, which, with CC, they are free. In my opinion buying CS6 now is so full of disadvantages which his hjard to reach a positive reason to do so. Well, it's the things you need to think. I hope it helps

  • Upgrade infrastructure vSphere Essentials Plus 5.0

I need to upgrade an infrastructure of VMware vSphere Essentials Plus 5.0 2 nodes of ESXi 5.0 and Windows server 2008 R2 based vCenter (virtual).

I want to upgrade to vSphere 5.5 U2.

Can I use the standard VMware CD to upgrade the host or vCenter or should I use Essentials more specific CD?

Based on what I saw on KB 2057795 I should update the vCenter first, ESXi nodes later.

Can I upgrade from 5.0 to 5.5 U2 or should I perform any intermediate task?

Is the update process, I need to run described anywhere?

Can I use the standard VMware CD to upgrade the host or vCenter or should I use Essentials more specific CD?

There is no difference between the installation media... the same ISO can be used for all editions of vSphere/vCenter.

Based on what I saw on KB 2057795 I should update the vCenter first, ESXi nodes later.

Yes, it is in order, all first the vCenter Server and vSphere ESXi hosts.

Can I upgrade from 5.0 to 5.5 U2 or should I perform any intermediate task?

You can go directly to version 5.5 Update 2, but for vSphere, ESXi hosts don't forget to check the HCL first just to make sure that your host supports version 5.5 Update 2.

We have still a few virtual machines with obsolete tools VMware vSphere 4.  There problems upgrade to vSphere 5.5 and then upgrade VMware Tools on those virtual machines to the version 5.5?  Or should we upgrade VMware Tools version 5.1 first before doing the upgrade to vSphere 5.5? We need plan restarting downtime when upgrading to VMware Tools on those virtual machines and would rather not upgrade VMware Tools twice and planning two stops

  • ESX 3.5 upgrade to vSphere using Activation of Windows

I'm trying to upgrade ESX 3.5 a customer to vSphere.   I have a single license of Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition and spin 4 VMS (clones) on a single ESX host.   (a real activation and 3 clones of the Windows VM already active)

After that I've upgraded to vSphere each Windows VM will require reactivation of Windows.

Can someone tell me what to expect regarding regarding the reactivation work or I will have to call Microsoft.  Microsoft will allow me to reactivate all 4 VM?  Is it the fact that the VM is clones impact of the process of reactivation with Microsoft?

    Thank you.

    Hello

If Windows in the VM is already activated, it should not be necessary to "reactivate" once you upgrade to vSphere. I do updates all the time and have never had to reactivate windows.

  • The upgrade to vSphere + SQL Express to SQL 2005 + new vCenter Server

    Hello world

It's the scénarion that I have today:

A node just two HA/DRS cluster with vCenter 2.5 update 4 and two esx 3.5 update 4.

The environment has increased enough to move from SQL Express to SQL 2005 standard. In the process, I want to upgrade the environment to vSphere and the vCenter move another box.

I'm quite familiar with the process of vSphere upgrade but I donít know how to move the vCenter to another machine AND I do not know how to go from Express to the standard version of SQL in the process. (I have a SQL machine ready for use)

I do not know how to handle all the changes here, I thought it would be nice to all move to the new machine and DB so that I could continue with the upgrade to vSphere, if this has meaning or not, I'm waiting for your ideas.

I hope someone will give me some guidance on moving from SQL Express to SQL and how to move vCenter to another server (of course with a different server name and IP address)

Thanks in advance for your support.

I just did something very similar a few Sundays ago and it was really easy.  Refer to the section of the Upgrade Guide that talks about upgrading to vCenter on another Machine... (starts at p. 49).  We went from SQL 2003 32 bits on 32-bit Windows 2003 to SQL 2005 64-bit on Windows 2008 R2 64-bit.  Both are running as VMs - vCenter 2.5 is still there only as a license server - until I get all my hosts upgraded.

  • intend to upgrade to vsphere 4.0 and need help

someone has upgraded to vphere 4 again and suggestions or the steps necessary to succeed.  Thanks in advance.

What are the types of hosts will you update? In most cases, you can use VMware Update Manager for ESX4i and vSphere 4.0, because you can't make a room upgrade with vSphere 4.0 CD. If your environment is lower, then 10 hosts, then use Host Update Utility to perform the upgrade, which is fairly easy or install base plug-in and configured VUM and sanitize it massively if you wish and plan accordingly with VMotion feature so that you have no downtime or need to use Storage VMotion, if you need to migrate between stores.

Once you have upgraded your hosts all vSphere 4.0, you have an option to clean the ESX 3.5/Boot and files in directory existing using the 'cleaning-esx3' service console command. If you like not vSphere 4.0 performance for some reasons, you can restore to the State ESX 3.x as well by using the command line "rollback-to-esx3' which will reconfigure your bootloader then you can manually delete the service console vmdk file.

I would start by looking at the guide to documentation how do more efficiently with planning in advance and prepare here http://www.vmware.com/support/pubs/vs_pages/vsp_pubs_esxi40_i_vc40.html

    Steps to follow:

    1 back up your database

2 download the license file and the upgrade to vCenter 4.0 Server and components, point to existing ODBC connection to keep data of perf or clean install.

    3. switch to level the esx host using component VUM

    4. upgrade tools vmware and vmware hardware at level 7

There is a video online of 4 steps casting presented by VMware its pretty good and solid foundation.

    Good luck!
