How stop Windows Media Player from the analysis of USB drive when it is mounted
When I get a USB drive, WMP scans the disc to add media items to the library. It takes resources and would prevent me from disassembly of the drive. I would like to than WMP to analyze only the selected folder listed in the watched folders option. Which I disable everything except my personal music folder.
Go to Options - devices , the USB of WMP key should be in there when it is mounted. Double-click it, uncheck start synchronization when the device connects , and then click OK . Who help me? Tim Baets

How to stop windows media player from reading when I open it?
I have windows vista. Why does windows media player start to play the first track in my list when it comes on? It didn't used to, but my system has been rebuilt, and now I can not find anywhere, no matter what help (is not always the case? Help files are never 'useful'). I didn't start playing a track just because I opened the windows media player!
Media Player has no opportunity to do so. Are you sure you're not clicking on a shortcut file that specifies to play? If you are unsure if the shortcut file specifies a game action, here is how to test directly open it:
(1) make sure that all programs are closed
(2) press Windows + R to display the race
(3) type wmplayer and press OK
Media Player should open without playing anything.

I'm doing the transcription of some audio files that work with windows media player. IT takes too long to move back between the word document and the player controls. I must be able to slow down or stop the player every so often, with the use of the keyboard instead of the mouse every time.
Hello
see if they help you
All features and buttons in Windows Media Player are accessible to you by using the keyboard only. The player offers a variety of keyboard shortcuts for the more commonly used commands and buttons that you can use to control the player from your keyboard or with macros. The following table shows the various keyboard shortcuts for the player.
