How to configure margins for printing from InDesign books?

Good evening

Please, I need help to solve this problem.

I have created a book (made many documents - INDD files) InDesign. So far so good... I would like to print this book (he has 9 chapters, which means, 9 INDD added to this topic). However, I set each document as 'facing pages', but the margins of each page are different.

It has:

RIGHT - 1 centimeter

LEFT - 1.4 cm

INTERIOR - 2 centimeter

OUTSIDE - 1 centimeter

The problem is that some documents end with a right-hand page, and the following document begins with a right-hand page too (so margins become a problem because I have to send to the printer shop and margins must be accordingly). Some chapters have only a single page, so that it follows a unique page template, but I need to deal with pages...

In order to set the margins, I created two master pages and margins applied to them.

Then, I applied these master pages to the membership of all documents (INDD) of this book.

Please, I need your help to solve. Thanks in advance!

If you allow your page numbers in the book to be "continue from previous document" file, your pages will take the correct position.

    I need to understand the best way to save for print from Photoshop. Here are the things that are confusing to me:

    Problem: When I create a design in Photoshop, I find myself with a few options on how to save my document. I would like to know which of the following statements is the best method:

    Method 1: create a PDF, and embed the fonts. This method, which worries me because I read that some fonts will not be open on the end of beneficiaries because of restrictions imposed by the manufacturer of the police. I should be concerned or is embedding fonts the best route to take?

    Method 2: Convert all types of forms. This method seems to be the most secure, but I read problems related to this road as well. A site commented that having too much text converted into forms can cause extremely long print times. Is this true?

    Another problem I encountered with the conversion of text in forms is when I have a paragraph that has more than one color of text... convert forms converts just one color. I would like to know a work around that. Currently, I create separate layers for different text colors and try to align them manually... a lot of your time. I know that InDesign would be best for this kind of thing, but Photoshop works very well for me, asside from this little thing).

    Method 3: Flatten my whole design (text and everything) at 300 dpi. My text will look like flattening crunchy at this resolution?

    Thanks to all who can help clarify this for me. I read so much incompatible information online that I don't know what to think.

    It would be great if there were a being all put an end to all the applications that actually everything we dream in one application. Maybe someday, but it's not the reality at this point. There is no IllustPhotoDesigner, so we need to deal with what we have to work with. It beats paper and pens, at times, but it has limits as well.

    In fact, In Design is much easier to use then Photoshop. You take the tool like Photoshop and type text. You place the images using the place command. You create PDF files by exporting to PDF or use the print dialog box.

    Photoshop is great for editing images of several kinds. Text is not really one of them unless you perform a text as a graphic you want to create an image in the text.  Creating a paragraph of text ends usually soft because if you're setting type in Photoshop, you are dealing with the resolution of the file so that if you type set In Design, you are not limited to the resolution of files, but the resolution of the device output you print on.

    Hi michaelk66089044,

    You can open it from Adobe Acrobat DC application on the file menu > open. If you did request by default option to open the PDF, you can directly click on PDF.

    You can also right click on PDF and select open in Adobe Acrobat DC

  • When I open a new document for print in indesign, which is the default document PPI?

    When I open a new document for print in indesign, which is the default document PPI?

    There is no such association resolution level file in InDesign. The elements of your InDesign layout retain their respective characteristics; a 72 DPI raster image can coexist with a 300 ppi raster image and a 150 ppi raster image, as well as resolution independent vector graphics and text; and they all remain exactly as they are, independently of each other with respect to the resolution.

  • I have a work of Illustrator on that I want to put on a Web site, what format should be recorded and how do I reduce the size to fit for example one is an A2 poster, then how to copy the watermark for printing from the web is useless

    I have a work of Illustrator I want to put on a Web site, which would be registered in? also, it's A2 How can I reduce to the web so that the image is not distorted? and when it's done how do I watermark it so if someone wants to print from the web is useless? I'm a novice at this.

    Hi Alan,

    Sue moved you here...? You answered my questions for the most part.

    As Jacob and I have said so when you are in Illustrator and you have your work open, select file > save for Web...

    From there, you will see a new window opens and you can choose your type of file (png-24/jpeg) quality, you want to be saved to and size too...

    See how you go.

  • Printing from InDesign for Epson Stylus Photo R3000

    In InDesign CS4 when I go to print to my new Epson Stylus Photo R3000, I don't see any options necessary to select types of paper, color or black, IPR, etc. in the printing establishment of Project dialog Panel.

    However, when I use Quark I see all the options I need. Surely InDesign should have them too?

    Please can someone hepl?

    Thank you very much.

    Oh, re-read your messages earlier, you say:

    Dialog box comes under 'General' at the top by "Printer" the only option that he has 'Epson Stylus Photo R3000' which is the printer I have.

    and then separately:

    Yes, but if you hit 'printer' in InDesign all you get is a dialog box saying use of InDesign print dialog box to "avoid conflicts of impression. Then you are taken back to square one where you cannot select the printer determine color and therefore cannot choose the types of paper etc.

    Are you saying when you hit a printer you get this? :

    If Yes, then you have to hit the triangle I circled in green, to get to this:

    And you should get a whole lot of choice in the drop-down list of oval-surrounded. Some may be specific to a printer, and some cannot.

    Is not what you get? If this isn't the case, maybe you should post a screenshot.

    I'm not really convinced that the choice of the color in the InDesign print area management has much to do with what you want to accomplish. Certainly, it should not influence selection paper. for example.

  • How to get back a margin for printing to its original state?

    I have a brochure which has been designed as a default value (page as the first page 1 / 1st line, pages 2-3 in the second line of the tab pages, etc.).  This brochure was then converted to an application for printing, so the appropriate pages lined up and were then saved as layout (and not as available to origin).  Is there a way to recover my original layout?  I would like to export a pdf file in a single page format (opposite to two pages on the same page) is that possible?  Please help! :))

    Is he still single pages, just arranged for the printer, or do you have now both sides of the spread on simple pages twice as wide?

    If you still have individual pages, you can try just dragging them around the pages palette, but it will be difficult to keep track of in CS2 because that page icons show still thumbnails of the content. It would be easier, I think to create a new document of the same size and slide pages in the pages of the first document palette in the window of the new doc document (not the palette). You can drag in the right order and they should be added at the end of each hour, and then delete the original page 1, which must be empty. Import all styles of the original document to make sure that the text does not change (in the palette menu character or paragraph styles choose "load styles").

    If you have no pages of the individual, create a new document with the size of the page and the number of pages, then copy the elements of a document and paste it into the other. Load styles as above.

  • Print from InDesign prints fine, but print after that exporting to PDF prints black as gray, low Image quality

    Hi all

    I have a printing problem going on with a document that I am currently trying to print.  When you export to PDF (high quality print or press quality setting, as well as to any possible color output) and then print, black my document go to the gray and the images look washed out.  This does not happen if I print directly from InDesign on my printer.  I tried to change the merger of transparent space, change the color profiles document and corresponding to export options to the options used when you print directly from ID, all without success. the document is always printed wrong when exporting to PDF first.  Any ideas why this might happen when exporting or printing to PDF, but not when you print directly from ID?  Thanks in advance for any help!

    I see.  Is there a way to ID artificially add CMY export in the same way as it does when sending to print?

    Is the destination of the document a composite digital printer or an offset press? If it is composite set your black preference for export fills and convert to RGB on export:

    In Acrobat, the two blacks will be 0. 0 | 0 RGB and will display the same

  • Workaround for calling from InDesign on Mac Acrobat

    With the help of @Test username and @Gilad D, I could get my original problem about 90% fixed.  Now, I need to tie everything together in order to solve this puzzle.  This puzzle called Acrobat from a script on Mac InDesign.

    Windows users have no trouble because BridgeTalk is available for their use, allowing them to call Acrobat directly from InDesign script.  Mac users, on the other hand, have been cheated by Adobe.  BridgeTalk does not work with Acrobat on a Mac.  Unfortunately, where I work, I found myself in the unenviable position to require a script (written in JavaScript/ExtendScript) InDesign to call Acrobat to a simple page of replacement function.  And, of course, our computers here at work are all Macs.

    With the help of the above, I, at least, got most of the way.  I discovered that AppleScript can be used to call Acrobat and do things.  And there is a 'doScript()' JavaScript function, which allows the scripts to another language to be run inside a JavaScript script.  Unfortunately, I ran into a wall when have AppleScript to save a file, but at least I can have call a function of the JavaScript script folder level to take care of her for me, I looked for work.  Yes, you can see the complications here.

    So what must happen, then, is a JavaScript script that calls an AppleScript script which in turn calls another script JavaScript that runs inside Acrobat.  Phew!  Talk about a script-reception!  But I was actually able to make this work!  However, I ran into a little snag.

    You see, I need to pass a variable through each of the three layers of scripts so that it works.  I'll post what I have so far.

    First of all, the top-level script, which runs inside InDesign.  This is just a test script to make sure that it all works before I integrate it with the real InDesign script:

    var fName = "testfile2.pdf";
    var aFName = new Array;
    aFName.push(fName);
    scriptFile = new File ("/apache HD/Users/apache/Documents/unlockCover.applescript");
    app.doScript(scriptFile, ScriptLanguage.APPLESCRIPT_LANGUAGE, aFName);

    Now, the AppleScript file (the middle layer), you can see being referred to above:

    on run argv
              set unlockedFile to item 1 of argv as text
              tell application "Adobe Acrobat Pro"
                        do script ("unlockCover(" & unlockedFile & ");")
              end tell
    end run

    This should, in theory, finally call the last script (low level), which is a JavaScript file saved inside the box at the level of the files for Acrobat, so that it runs automatically as soon as the launch of Acrobat and the function remains in memory to be called at any time:

    var unlockCover = app.trustedFunction(function (fName)
    {
              app.beginPriv();
              var myDoc = app.openDoc("/g/ ArtDept/Product Templates/ ProofCover/proof_cover.pdf");
              myDoc.replacePages(0, "/apache HD/Users/apache/Desktop/Old samples/407471 Folder/407471_cover.pdf", 0, 0);
              myDoc.saveAs("/apache HD/Users/apache/Desktop/" + fName);
              myDoc.closeDoc(true);
              app.endPriv();
    });

    There are the real meat of it.  These four lines between "app.beginPriv ();" and "app.endPriv ();" are those that this is all about.  However, I get an error message when I try to run the script at a higher level:

    End of line but found consistent application or review.

    If I send a call to each of you scripting gurus out there, how can I put the last nail in the coffin of this monster and call it a day.  I'm pretty sure 100% that the problem lies in trying to pass the argument ("aFName' in the top-level script) for the intermediate level AppleScript script.  Any ideas?

    Problem solved.

    I played with it a bit more and discovered that it was, indeed, passing the variable of AppleScript script that was the problem.  I used 'on run argv', I read on some site earlier today as the way AppleScript handles the arguments given.  More recently, however, I discovered that JavaScript uses a table defined as 'arguments' whenever AppleScript him passes a variable.  So, on a lark, I decided to try to use 'arguments' the other way ' round (I also had to add an extra set of quotes in the line "do script" AppleScript seems to save strings to variables without them):

    set unlockedFile to item 1 of arguments
    tell application "Adobe Acrobat Pro"
              do script ("unlockCover(\"" & unlockedFile & "\");")
    end tell

    And who did!  I can now pass a variable all the way from code JavaScript/ExtendScript InDesign JavaScript Acrobat low-level code top-level!  YAY!

  • How to restore good export PDF from InDesign CS3 or CS5 in Snow Leopard?

    I had no problem to export to PDF from InDesign CS3 files (on a Mac Pro running Snow Leopard 10.6.4) until last weekend, when all the fonts appear bitmap or thin and rough, and the images lost color depth and contrast. When I copied the InDesign document to my MacBook Pro laptop, also running 10.6.4 the PDF has emerged with its original quality. Support calls Adobe referred me to the incompatibilities between Snow Leopard and InDesign documents. One of these documents was several pages long, but I could not print from the Adobe to my HP website all-in-one Officejet, because one-third of the document was hidden under a white board. This makes it impractical for the troubleshooting document, because I don't have enough screen real estate (even on a 23-inch screen) to let the open document and all the pages and dialogue boxes needed for reference. Back to the phone and chat support, I was told to upgrade my Creative Suite Premium CS3 to CS5 ($ 800!) and buy the updated Acrobat Pro ($200), with no guarantee that this cost of $1,000 would actually solve the problem. I downloaded the trial version of InDesign CS5, and it has NOT solved the problem. I am also afraid that the problem did not exist before last weekend. Before that, my CS3 and Snow Leopard combination worked very well. Then I checked the forums and was appalled by the variety of issues related to PDF files, for which there seems to be no general solution. Meanwhile, I have hundreds of ads, I'm supposed to be prepare and e-mailing as evidence PDF to businesses nationwide. I have two books of 120 with 256 pages to be submitted to printers in PDF format with all kinds of fonts and files image belonging to my clients. The last time I presented a paper on a printer by electronic mail, the work went perfectly. This time and the next, it is obvious, that I won't be able to send a PDF file to all! If this is the case, my activities related to the directories of 27 will be unable to absorb the expenditures necessary to start all over again with software and new computers, and I'll be out of business. Period. Yes - someone ' an at - it a way to solve this problem? Surely, I would be grateful.
