  The Cinema Display has a power adapter and 3 USB, Firewire connectors and a DVI (think that's what it's called).

  The MacBook Pro has USB, Thunderbolt, and HDMI ports.  I have a crush on Firewire adapter, but I don't know what I need to plug the DVI or if it will work.

  I also remember that years ago Apple sold "docks", so that you can use your laptop with a keyboard and a standard monitor.  Is this always the case?

  A single adapter would be the best bet. If you can find a C - USB to DVI, maybe that would work, assuming that the Cinema display does not use a DVI port updated the. Here is a sample of the Amazon.

For some reason my Apple keyboard brightness do not work and there is also no under display settings brightness adjustment. I read that some people had similar problems due to some bugs, but it was in 2013 with older versions of Mac OS.

  Does anyone know how I can control (mainly make it brighter) my movie screen? Right now the screen is too dark, and it is not suitable for video editing.

  The Cinema Display isn't a Retina display, so it will not show HiDPI resolutions. But it will work fine with your new machine.
