  Now, we have two physical servers. that acts as a web server and the other as the DB server. For security reasons, the DB server is not connectivity outside and is connected to the physical web server by cable. We are in virtualizing all of our web servers.

  I tried several ways to connect to the virtual web server with the server physical DB without success. Any thoughts on how to proceed?

  Edit: Thanks everyone - I realized there was a problem with the way the VIRTUAL local area network has been configured on our physical switch (obscure security setting). I had to changed VIRTUAL local network settings and the problem has been resolved.

  You must connect the DB server to the switch and use a VLAN for security.

  Two network adapters to configure the vm of the Web server. A vnic connected to the Port Group VLAN using the DB server and an another vnic to the port group that communicates with the rest of the network.

  Changed according to your variables. BTW, you can not SID more than 8 characters, which means that the name of your instance GLOBAL_CLUSDB01 is not your SID. So, try parameter with the name of the database as CLUSDB.

  No, not at all. "Indexing" is a stange inconsistent term used for this connection. I guess you really want is a search engine that includes PDF as HTML content. The term 'indexing' might mean 'account with all the text in a file and the addition of words available for research.

  Acrobat uses "Indexing" to mean precisely creating a set of files used by Acrobat itself to find several PDF files. But it is a thing of local file, not a web thing. In this way the indexing of PDF files must be used on the web is bad, but also not good.

  There are two main approaches to web search engines.

  1 premises. Software runs on the local computer and can read the files on the web site. In fact a kind of file, may be called an index. Local software on the web server uses this information to display that you lead.

  2 remote connection. Google is a prime example of this. Visits of the websites ("spiders") to play the files, made his own 'index' and the research on the sites.

  the minimum requirement is that you have installed Oracle Clienttools about all your customers. After that, you need to configure a tnsnames.ora on each client with the descriptors for each DB connection. The command to connect to the DB from the client is sqlplus username/password@sid.

  I have the server database oracle 10g on solaris 10 and I usually connect using my account to solaris and run sqlplus on the server itself. This works!
  
  I downloaded and installed the client instant oracle for solaris 64 and I can launch sqlplus command but I'm confused on what should be the syntax of the command to connect to remote oracle and solaris 10 database server where I have the system account.
  
  I tried sqlplus help but still I could not correct syntax that may be used to authenticate to the oracle server.

  then he asked for password, but when I typed the password and you press on enter, it gave some error
  
  but he still asked as username so I type user@SID and then prompt password - typed password and it works!

  You generally need (or at least strongly want) a file tnsnames.ora on the client machine.

  -You could configure Oracle Internet Directory and allow this product provide TNS alias resolution for the Organization (similar to the DNS configuration for a LAN).

  Where host is the server that the database is running, the port is the port the listener (i.e. 1521 default) listening and SID/service_name is the SID or service name, you are trying to connect to.

  Make sure that your MDS starts when the Simulator starts.  In the JDE will in Edition > Preferences > Simulator > General and click the checkbox "launch Mobile Data System connection with Simulator Service.

  But for our scripts, I need to connect to sqlplus / as sysdba (os user's oracle).

  If I try to open a session with / as sysdba I get this:
