  First of all, note that you can use an upgrade, you cannot make a
  update from XP to Windows 7. You'll have to do a cleaning

  It's always a good idea to have a paper copy of a disc (for resettlement and repairs).

  Office (Word, etc.) comes for free with Windows. you have to buy.

  If Office is preinstalled, it was a test.

  A clean installation will wipe everything.

  You cannot transfer programs.

  It needs to be reinstalled from the original media.
