How to customize the location of OCR and voting disks.

Hello

Today I installed the first time CARS (gR 11, 2) on HP UX 11-31 with ASM. Customer wishes to place OCR and voting disks in a specific disk group.  Today during the installation, I couldn't find an option to indicate the location of the OCR and voting disk. That's why I continued with the default location and the installation is completed successfully. Now my question is

(1) is it possible to change now?

(2) I have a facility more tomorrow, is it possible to specify the location before you start the actual installation. Can any body tell me the way to do this?

In parallel, I check in the net as well...

Thank you in advance...

    -Kumar

    Hi Kumar,

    No, we can't.

    Best practice is that you need to stop the battery Oracle Clusterware on the node on which you must stop the Oracle ASM instance.

    Use "crsctl stop cluster node_name - n" or "crsctl stop crs" for this purpose.

    It could be that useful...

    Hello world

    I have an Oracle 11 g (11.2.0.4) CARS on a Solaris 10 Sparc Server, we also have a midsize v3700 IBM and we had no problem until last Friday, so far there has been activated the easy level feature since we connected two drives in the solid state it. Minutes later the diskgroup DG_GRID that stores OCR and voting disks that are non-mounted and the resource ora.crsd changed in DISCONNECTED state.

    We have that at this time, it was a question of synchronizing the disks, but this situation is repeated every day since last Friday,

  • OCR and voting disk

    Hi all

    What is the difference b/w OCR and voting disk

    The voting disk is a file that manages information about the node membership and OCR is a file that manages the cluster and RAC database configuration information.

    Vote of disc - Oracle Clusterware uses the drive to vote to determine which instances are members of a cluster. The voting disk must reside on a shared disk. Basically, all the nodes of the RAC cluster register their heartbeat information on teas voting records. The number will determine the number of nodes in the RAC cluster. They are also used to check availability of instances at the JRC and remove the unavailable out of the cluster nodes. It helps prevent the condition "split brain" and maintains intact the database information. The split brain syndrome and its effects and how it has been successful in oracle is mentioned below.
    For high availability, Oracle recommends to have a minimum of three disks with voting rights. If you configure a single voting disk, then you must use external mirror to provide redundancy. You can have up to 32 disks with right to vote in your cluster. What I could understand the odd value of the number of disks to vote is that a Noah should see voting disk to continue to operate, so with 2 maximum number, if he sees that 1, is not the maximum value but one half of the value of the voting disk. I always try to look for more on this concept.

    OCR (Oracle Cluster registry) - is located on the shared storage, and maintains information on the configuration of the cluster and cluster database. OCR contains such information which instances of database nodes and services that is running on what database.

    Registry of Cluster Oracle (OCR) is such a component in 10g THAT CARS used to store the cluster configuration information. It is a component of shared disk, usually placed in a shared gross volume that must be accessible to all nodes in the cluster. The demon OCSSd manages the configuration information in the OCR and maintains the changes in the cluster registry.

    ocrcheck is the command to check the OCR.

  • About size OCR and voting disk

    Hallo,

    I have a simple question for OCR and voting disk in a configuration of RAC 10 g / 11g:
    official documentation talks about sizing OCR and voting disk approximately 280 MB, but they mean each OCR and voting disk LUN?

    In other words, for 2 OCR and 3 voting disk, I need 280 * 5 MB (o several single LUN)

    Is it so?

  • Confusion with the file system OCFS2 OCR and voting disk RHEL 5, Oracle11g,

    Hi all

    I am trying to install the Oracle 11 g 3 node RAC database

    The environment on which I must make this implementation is as follows:
    Oracle 11g.
    Red Hat Linux 5 x 86
    Oracle Clusterware
    ASM
    Storage EMC
    250 GB of disk storage.
    SAN

    From now on, I am installing Oracle Clusterware on 3 nodes.

    I performed these tasks for cluster installations.

    1 configure the kernel parameters
    2 configure the user limits
    3 edit the /etc/pam.d/login file
    4 set up the groups and users to the operating system for Oracle Clusterware
    5. configure the environment Clusterware Oracle owner
    6. install the rpm CVUQDISK package
    7 configure the Hosts file
    8. check the network configuration
    9 configure SSH on all the Cluster nodes (equivalence of the user)
    9 enable SSH on all the Cluster nodes (equivalence of the user)
    10 installing Oracle Cluster File System (OCFS2)
    11. check the Installation of the (OCFS2) Oracle Cluster file system
    12 set the OCFS2 (/ etc/ocfs2/cluster.conf)
    13 set up the stack of Cluster O2CB for OCFS2

    BUT, here again the after that I'm a little confused on how to proceed. The next step is to format the disk and mount the OCFS2, directories of software... so, create etc.
    I asked my administration system to provide me with two partitions so that I could get in shape with the OCFS2 file system.

    He wrote telling me.

    * "Is what you want before I do it?" *

    * / dev/emcpowera1 is 3 GB and OCFS2.* format
    * / dev/emcpowera2 is 3 GB and OCFS2.* format

    * Those who are big enough for you? If not, I can re-size and re - format the *.
    * before I climb on the servers.*
    * the SAN is shared storage. / dev/emcpowera is one of the three LUNS on *.
    * storage is shared, and it is 214 GB. At the moment there are only two *.
    * partitions on it - the ones I have listed below. Can I repartition the LUN everything *.
    * as you want it.*
    * Where do you want that these climbs to: *.

    * / dev/emcpowera1 *.
    * / dev/emcpowera2 *.

    * I thought if this mounting technique would work as follows: *.

    * emcpowera1: / u01/shared_config/OCR_config *.
    * emcpowera2: / u01/shared_config/voting_disk *.

    * Let me know how you would like that mounted. » *

    Please recommend me what I should pass so that I can ask him exactly the same.

    My second question is, as we use the DSO, for which I'm going to configure ASM after clusterware installation, do I install Openfiler?
    PLS, check the environmental information that I provided above and make recommendations.

    As of now, I am using Jeffery hunters guide to install the entire installation. You think the installation guide everything is fine with my environment?

    We could list ASM starts by,
    *#oracleasm listdisks * but this command does not display the disks assigned to ASM DiskGroup.

    Even for check location of OCR and voting disks only show Diskgroup name and not the actual discs.
    $ocrcheck

    And for this, you can use oracleasm querydisk. Using that you can identify which device marked for asm or not. for example you can see below the example.

    Hi, STC,

    There have been a number of suggestions for change or disable the table , right-click menu, but I see that this does not affect the context menu of legend , which is what you ask for help with.

    To prevent completely the menu right-click to work, you must disable the chart control entirely. You can do this by double-clicking on the chart and select Advanced Options > active state > disabled. This will prevent the operator to be able to generate a menu right click on the chart control.

    If however you still wanted the table, make a right click menu to work, but the legend made a right-click menu will be disabled, I see two options:

    1. draw a classic decoration square on the legend and the transparent color. This will prevent the mouse clicks to achieve the legend, and transparent it will not interfere with your user interface appearance.

    2 use a Structure of the event to capture the event filter Popup Menu of Activation?  for the chart control. You can then use the Coords property to determine if the mouse is over the legend or not. If this is the case, send faithful away? right Terminal. It will refuse the context menu when the user clicks on the legend of the plot.
