How to eject safely flash drive?

Help! I can't get my flaSH DRIVE ON MY COMPUTER!

Hello

First, close all programs and files that are open on the computer that is on the disk.

Then:

If you use Windows XP or Vista, go down to the icons of the clock and choose one that is a cable with a green check mark. Right-click and click the Eject option or with the name of your USB safely remove. It can be labeled as model of the player, or sometimes it is presented as a "USB Mass Storage Device".

If you use Windows 7, things are a little simpler. Go in my computer, right-click on your USB drive and select eject.

You can then take the flash drive on the USB port.

When I market/internet browsing on Firefox. I can't eject my flash drives safely. each time, I get this:

"Problem ejecting USB Mass Storage device - this legacy is currently in use. Close any programs or windows that might be using the device, and then try again. »

Flash drives are not used most of the time, except when I record something for them. Nothing is using them and all the stops and other things are accomplished, but I can't safely eject when Firefox is running. I have to close Firefox to eject safely. I can't in safe mode, however. Is a weird glitch, or something else happens with Firefox?

I found the culprit using Process Explorer. It is RecordingManager.exe which is part of the extension RealDownloader 1.3.0 from RealNetworks Inc.. I could see it was making reference to my letter of the USB drive, don't have however no idea why it was.

Kill the RecordingManager.exe process while leaving the FF running meant I could now eject the USB key.

Deactivation of the FF extension has prevented the problem from happening again.

How to copy a flash drive to another. It contains just ordinary excel data files only, no files or libraries

    Thank you

Which removes the 1 Player files? (move rather that copy?

Only one query: currently I more than 640 excel files on my USB key, I want to do it all in a single operation.

None of the files or libraries currently in use on this USB key

To avoid covering your desktop with files 640 +, make a folder for them, and copy them into it.

When you drag files from one drive to another in Windows, it makes a copy of them. If you drag files from a folder to one another on the same drive he moves.

If you actually want to move the files, you can use the right mouse button to drag and when let you go, it will give you a small menu of options such as move or copy.

So, no, it will not erase the files from the first hard drive.

  • How to use a flash drive for HP Pavilion p6331 with Windows Vista for backup worki?

    Hello

While I have a master's degree, my know-how is written the text, does not not with the computer functions that are new to me.  Whenever I try to my backup job, the default setting of my Media Smart desktop assumes that my files will be sent to some separate, newly purchased drive, drive E.  However, I don't have any drive E!  I bought some DVDs but they keep rejected and cannot be written above.  Seems cheaper solution was to buy a flash drive.  I tried to save, but the menu showed that drive new E or "insert DVD."  What I need to know where/how is insert (front of the back of the Tower?) flash player and the "selection" of this option.  Do I need to buy a special cable to connect this small Lexar Flash drive, 16 GB?

Thanks for all the words of wisdom.

Hello leathergirl. I checked the model number on the HP website and did not find a system with this model you listed.

You can see the card reader in the E: drive when you try to back up your data.

You should be able to navigate to any location (by car) which is able to accept data during backups. I don't recommend that you use the backup but just Windows copy and paste all data, such as documents, pictures, music, etc..

Unless you use DVD +/-RW disc, the DVD disc can have that data written (burned) to them once. DVD +/-RW can be rewritten several times before becoming defective.

The Lexar 16 GB Flash drive USB should be inserted into the USB port on the front and then recognized by the operating system and drivers must be installed by the operating system.

You should be able to copy and paste your data to the Lexar FlashDrive using Windows Explorer. Lexar Flash drive must be placed in the list of drives on the left side of the screen when using Windows Explorer.

  • Pavilion P7 1423W: how to insert a Flash drive

I want to get about 100 GB of memory in my computer, so I bought a flash drive with a capacity of 128 GB.  However, unlike my old Vista HP Pavilion which just broke down a couple of weeks, this computer doesn't have an opening on the front for a flash drive.  There is a place for a memory stick, but it's not big enough or properly shaped.  I should mention that I bought this computer there when my Vista started giving me bad, but he rallied and finally crashed fatally 2 weeks there almost 3 years.  So, I finally opened the Pavilion P7 computer 1423W (still sealed in its box) and started setting up.

Is there no place on this computer that will accept a flash drive?

    Hello

Your computer has 2 ports USB 3.0 in the front as indicated on the following sheet:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c03517270

Your USB drive (USB key) must match one of the two USB ports.

    Kind regards.

  • Standard Mac users can not eject image Flash drive install

We recently distributed Flash Mac 130 and it by default for the automatic update. Whenever it automatically updates, it goes up a drive image of the desktop flash player. Unfortunately, all users are standard users and they can't eject the disk image mounted without an administrator logon. I lost hours to you connect to each computer to manually eject these discs. How can I reverse this behavior?

We are via apple remote desktop

    Hello

Given that your users have administrator rights to install the software, you'll want to disable auto-mises up-to-date on each machine.  Update settings are stored in the file/Library/Application Support / mms.cfg.  You'll want to make sure that the AutoUpdateDisable and SilentAutoUpdateEnable parameters are configured as follows:

    AutoUpdateDisable = 1

    SilentAutoUpdateEnable = 0

This will disable all updates for these machines, as such, you'll want to distribute updates via another mechanism to ensure that your users have newer versions secure when they are released.

Enterprise deployment information are documented in the Guide Administration of Adobe Flash Player for Flash Player | Adobe Developer Connection.

While ejecting a USB key, I could see the light still glowing im using windows 7

    Hello

    Could you give more details?

What is the light that is attached to, the USB, the computer case, or is it a light on a USB hub?

    Let us know.

Thank you for using Windows 7 Ronnie Vernon MVP

It looks like the LED light on the USB. I wouldn't pay too much attention to it if Windows 7 says its safe to remove the device. Make sure that there are no files or programs still in use on the USB.

  • Laptop HP 17 p100: how the usb flash drive big that I have to create a system of 10 Windows Recovery?

How the big usb flash drive do I need to create a system of 10 Windows Recovery?

    Yes

    Hello;

Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

There is really no way accurately guess in advance, with one of the reasons being that the options are available when you do this.  An option creates a recovery drive minimum with what is needed to repair the operating system.  Another option creates an image that is able to completely restore the operating system and its partition.  Thus, the size can vary from 4 GB to the size of the partition to the OS.

Myself, I found as build-in recovery to be unreliable, especially those of Ms.  So instead, I use a third-party imaging/restoration solution known as Macrium Reflect.

What I recommend is the following:
    (1) download and install Macrium reflect (MR)
    (2) run M. and choose the option: "Create an image of the partition (s) required to backup and restore Windows" to write a full backup to an external drive or USB key
    (3) use the option to create a CD or a USB startup key

My experience is that SIR, when you use the option of Compression high, typically allows to compress the image file recorded at about 50% of the space USED in the OS partition.  This means that if you have a 40GB and 80GB OS partition is used, MR must only about 20 GB to store the image file.

I use all the time and it usually takes less than 10 minutes to make the backup of the image and at the same time or less do a restore.  In addition, MR has the ability to add a recovery Boot Menu entry.  This then allows you to boot into Windows re, and then you can use it to do a restore - when you cannot start Windows!

NOW, you have the means to restore a full system that works for the external hard drive or USB key in a few minutes.

    Good luck

I'm a volunteer and I do not work for, or represent, HP.
