How to finalize a CD or DVD after burning?

Years, I finalized discs so that they could be played or read on different computers. When I burn to a DVD or CD- RW disc, it will play on all my machines. But a standard write once disc will not play on any of my DVD or CD machines except the CD music discs.

I remember doing this finalize routine but it has been so long that I have no recollection of how to do this. Throw in the fact that my memory has been damaged by a nearly fatal accident, when I was struck by a truck while crossing in the crosswalk. This situation has improved these days, but things like this thing finalized... forgetaboutit... Ah yes, I have. Sorry...

Any help out there?

Thank you for your consideration.

When you use a Mac to make a record, "there simply it"-the whole process, not just a part of it. Remember and do additional steps are a job for a computer, not a person.

I have a Pioneer DVD - RW DVR - 110 d. When I restart XP and open Windows Explorer recognizes the drive as a DVD one. But for some strange reason, when I insert a prerecorded DVD, Windows Explorer changes the designation of my drive as a CD drive and will not read my drive. Close or finalize a CD or DVD

Before you can use a recordable disc (such as CD - R, DVD-R or DVD + R) formatted with the live file system format in other computers and devices, you must close the current disc session to prepare the disk to use. By default, Windows closes your disc automatically when it is ejected.

    To close a disc automatically

    • Press the eject button on the drive of your computer.

Windows automatically closes the current session. This consumes 20 megabytes (MB) of disk space and can take several minutes.

    To stop closing discs automatically

    1. Click to open the computer.

    2. Right click on the drive icon that represents your writeable drive, and then click Properties.

    3. Click the recording tab, and then click global settings.

    4. Clear the automatically close the UDF session when the disc is ejected check.

    To close a disc manually

    1. Click to open the computer.

    2. Right click on the drive icon that represents your writeable drive, and then click close session.

Once the disc is ejected, the session will be closed and the disc can be used in other computers and devices.

    Notes

    • After you close a disc session, you can still add additional files to the disc, but you must close each additional session to be able to use the disc on another computer.

    • If you remove a disk from your computer without closing the disc session, you can close it at a later date. He can go back to the computer disk drive and follow the steps above to close the session.

    • Some programs might finalize your disc instead of closing the current session. You cannot add additional files on a disc that has been finalized.

First of all, I have to ask... are the extensions of file on all the photo files. JPG?

It is possible that the error means that the total size of the photo file has exceeded the

    limitations of the CD.

It is also possible that choosing the slow burning speed could improve the issue.

  • How to finalize a disc (CD - R and DVD +/-R) using Windows?

    Hello:

How to "finalize" a disc (CD - R and DVD +/-R) using Windows?

I want to finalize the disc... not simply close the session/disc.

What I read in the help Windows, "closing" allows me to write on the disc later.

Is this true, if the disc is just R, RW not?

I burned the JPEG images (.jpg files) on CD - R and DVD + R discs.

When I try to read them in my Sony CD/DVD player, it does not recognize the discs.

The Sony user manual said that records must be "finalized", not just "closed".

What do you mean with Windows?

I have treid finalize these discs with Roxio Creator Basic, but it does nothing, except eject discs.

Windows has always said that disks have free space, and the DVD player is unable to recognize them.

As I understand it, if the disc is finalized, will show him no available free space.  Is this correct?

Note: The discs work fine on my HP laptop which uses Vista 32 bit Home Premium.  I can see JPEG images.

    Thank you...

I recently burned movies on a dvd + r (which is the right type for my burner).  The movies play fine on my computer, but when I try to finalize through roxio it just keeps telling me to insert a write once dvd and it won't finalize for I can't play it on my TV.  Any ideas?  When I eject the dvd, it closes the session correctly.

I read the explanation of the problem and I've been OutSite with the same thing myself. (DivX/XviD compatible) DVD player has not play recognized the DVD I burned just copy of Vista that closes only the sessiion and not the DVD.
This question was not answered, is there a way to close the DVD (not the session) for devices other than computers can read the contents of the DVD? Is it possible at all without any third-party application? I think that if the DVD is full there will be done a DVD colsure, but what are the options for a no complete closure of DVD?

  • How to use a blank disc DVD-R as a USB flash drive?

Hi all! I'm running Mac OS X 10.9.5 on my MacBook Pro and I was wondering how I could use a blank DVD-R disc as a form of rewriting for documents, music, spreadsheets, etc. ? My mac Let's burn me to the disc, but I can't rewrite to it after that. Help, please!

They don't work that way. Rewritable means simply you can erase the disc and use it again. You can't write it during normal use of the disk. This, to a USB flash drive.

To be same rewritable, you can use a DVD - RW, DVD - r not it is not rewritable. You can look for third-party software that allow you to use the drive as a flash drive, but I am not sure that these programs exist. Not much need for it.

    Response

    Hello

    1. are you able to read any type of file .doc or .txt of DVD?

After following all the steps (including the update of the MP9 for Media Player [MP] 11) below

I can get the drive to DISPLAY all the data from the DVD (Master & Commander 'movie)

on-screen MP11.  He plays (automatically) the intro (ONLY) from the DVD music (as when you put it in a DVD player, forward to press PLAY) MP11 shows all of the content and all the files on the DVD and SEEMS ready to play, but pressing on PLAY don't either not anything.

2 , what exactly happens when you try to burn the CD? You get the error message?

    Not nothing... He's here

    3. How do you try to burn CDs?

MediaPlayer, selection of a track list, made a list of titles, and then click BURN... nothing happens

4 have you tried to play the DVD content in ? windows media player

I had not before, but now I have.  Previously it was default to my SELECTION WIN DVD4 as the DVD player (I think I've EVER SEEN the WINDVD format/start page on the front screen - it wasn't the default front DVD player either but don't remember what program PLAYS the DVD, he ' comes of ").  Now, go back and see 1. above for MP11 more details.

Try to update the drivers of CD-RW/DVD drive and check. Also update the graphics driver.

    I did the entire bottom.

    1. click on Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click System.

2 click on the hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or click continue.

3 right-click on the CD-RW/DVD drive, and then select set to update driver.

He asks if I have an OEM driver and / disk... NO.. I run the program through...

"Hardware update Wiz can not find a better match the software installed"

    4. right click on the graphics card and select Update driver. »

There is no "graphics card" on the material.  This machine has integrated graphics using a part of the main memory (or other) to run the video section:

    I find:

AUDIO, VIDEO and GAME controllers (announcement)

    Audio codecs

    Audio drivers

    Legacy video capture device

    Media control devices

    Audio Sigma

    Video codecs

All this seem normal but above I see YELLOW TWO warnings under 'OTHER DEVICES '.

?!  Ethernet controller "drivers for this divide (code28) is not installed.

?! VIDEO CONTROLLER (VGA Compatible) I didn't HAVE NO IDEA if THIS if APPLIES OR NOT

    Device type - other devices

    MFG-unknown

Location PCI bus, device 0, function 0.  "Drivers for this device are not installed, CODE28 to reinstall the driver."

Has been through the usual (request for drive... Laughing out loud. Impossible to beat")

"Question: media in the CD-RW/DVD drive is not readable" CLICKED top DIFFICULTY... and after computer "worked" on this subject awhile, he says STATUS: fixed.  St ill did not.   MP9 introduced the format of the DVD player but don't seem to read anything other then showing a list:

    UNKNOWN

    Title 1

    Title2

Title 3 etc., but could not do anything with this list.

He appeared a box asking if I wanted to update my MP9... sure why not so I shut everything down and uninstalled 9 and installed Media player 11.

Go BACK to # 1. now once again.  This is where I am.  MP11 shows all DVD data, the chart "the Album/DVD cover, all"titles"on the DVD, AND play the track audio 'intro' DVD but will not actually READ the DVD. "

So far it's PROGRESS.  We are at a point where it SEEMS at least that we are ready to PLAY and MP can SEE all the info on the DVD.

I see many people on other sites of the same question: Player does not work after FORMAT operating system and reinstall of WIN (and in my case: WinXP SP3 and WIN DVD4 of OEM disc)

Thanks a lot for your help so far... I hope that we can get to the next step and get the reader of CD-RW/DVD on 'PLAY '.

    Hello KConstant,

I understand that you're looking to remove photos from your iPhone, after you import the to your Mac. It depends largely on how the images are imported into your Mac.

If you use iCloud photo library, remove photos from your iPhone, after they have synched to the Photos on your Mac afterwards would remove these photos on your Mac as well, like iCloud photo library is designed to synchronize your iPhone with iCloud and Mac.

However, if you are importing photos via the USB port of the Photos app, you should be prompted to delete pictures from your device once the import is complete:

Once the import is complete, a message asks if you want to delete or keep the photos on your device. Click on remove items to remove photos or click on keep items to keep them on the device.

    1. put the image files you want in the slide show in an album and genre as you want. Follow the Apple document to prepare images for iDVD: iDVD ' 09 (7.x): preparing images for iDVD slideshows

2 - Launch iDVD and select an older theme, not animated.  You can change the background of the theme by dragging the image file of your choice, black or other, in the display pane for the menu.

    7. Select all images in the album and drag to the left in the slide show window.

8 - Select the transition for the slideshow and the time for each slide on screen

9 - follow this workflow to help ensure the best DVD video qualty:

Once the project you want it save it as an image disk via the menu file → save as Disk Image . It will separate from the process of encoding of the burning process.

To check coding mount the disk image, launch a DVD player and read it.  If it plays OK with DVD, encoding is good.

Burn burn to disc with utility disk or toasts to the slowest speed (2 x - 4 x) in order to ensure the best quality.  Always use higher quality media: Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are recommended in these forums.
