    If the system or Mode restore safe work not and you do not have a Microsoft Vista DVD, make a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:

    Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.

    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

    When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

It cannot be used to install or reinstall Windows Vista, and is just a Windows PE interface to recovering your PC. Technically, we could re-create this installation with downloadable media media freely from Microsoft (namely the Microsoft WAIK, several gigabyte download); but it is pretty darn decent of Microsoft to present Windows users who might not be able to create such a thing on their own.

  • How to remove downloaded updates for Windows 7

    How can I delete downloaded updates of Windows 7?  While the updates are being downloaded, apparently I lost my internet connection then maybe that these were not completely downloaded. When I was prompted to install the updates, I did.  During the stop, the computer only installed15% and then stop.  I am now invited that updates were not properly installed.  I have updated manually several times over with the same results.  Should I delete the old downloaded updates and start again?  If so, how do remove these updates downloaded so I start again.  Thank you.

  • How can I remove updates for Windows Vista? Duplicates are KB976325, KB973917, KB974318. The system still wants to install updates and just duplicates on again once. First update list has 20, second and third about 18.

    Duplication did not begin until I tried to load the list of updates.  Continues to tell me the same updates are available and download them if allowed.  Only the update that has been update group above that does not DOWNLOAD is Internet Explorer 8 for Windows Vista, which I am downloading now. When I go to 'historic day' to remove duplicates as indicated in the instructions for help. duplicates above are not listed. Of the; folding situation is on a Gateway laptop.  I am writing this issue on my Gateway PC.

    LiveUpdate install updates for your Symantec/Norton application only.

    Don't worry what you see in the installed updates or unable to uninstall the 3 updates, simply 'hide' and move.

    1. stop the automatic updates service:

    Start > Right click on run , and then select run as administrator > services.msc (type) > [OK]
    Double-click automatic updates > click stop
    (Stopping the service will take a moment)

    2 remove the contents of the download folder:

    Start > Right click on run , and then select run as administrator >
    (type or copy/paste) %windir%\SoftwareDistribution > [OK]
    Open the download folder and delete its content
    Close the window.

    3 start | Control Panel | System maintenance and (if you use Classic view, skip this step). Windows Update |  View the updates available (or Select the updates installed): right-click on KB976325 KB973917 and KB974318, in turn. Click hide update | Confirm the prompt UAC (User Account Control), if any, & OK your way out.

    4. start the automatic updates service:

    Start > Right click on run , and then select run as administrator > services.msc (type) > [OK]
    Double-click automatic updates > click Start
    (Stopping the service will take a moment)

    =====================================
    To restore/show updates for Vista: Start | Control Panel | System maintenance and (if you use Classic view, skip this step) | Windows Update | Restore hidden updates: Find and select the update you want to install. Click restore. You can now select once again it and install through the normal process.

I get no error message #, I tried the selective startup in msconfig and disable all Microsoft services on the services tab, and I get a BIG red X saying could not check c:\windows\kb268509.log, I searched my computer, microsoft, web for failure message # and nothing. Please help summer try everything I could find for problem including microsoft fix it and no problem help. Thanks for any help. Paul * address email is removed from the privacy * .

    Please open your control panel > programs feature add / remove and check that all other Windows XP updates security for may 2012 (i.e. KB2676562 + KB2695962 + KB2659262) all are listed. If only KB2686509 is missing (don't not listed as installed) you can go to your Windows directory and search for a log file named: faultykeyboard.log

    You can now go to this thread (KB2686509 repeatedly fails with error 0x8007F0F4 code) where you have 3 options to resolve this problem:

    (1) glance to 2nd marked "Answer" Post (of Christian S.) and try to run its new VB Script (at your own risk - if necessary) as described in this report.

    OR...

    (2) search the marked 1st Post "Answer" (from Susan B.) and try to determine which of these scenarios you are. So far, there is - at least - three types of different errors that would make the KB2686509 update fails with error 0x8007f0f4 code,.

    OR otherwise - if neither works above...

    (3) try to contact Susan Bradley (provided email in even mentioned thread) that she is wanting to offer his help in what concerns failure to comply with this update to install - as long as you have found your faultykeyboard.log file.

    Hope this helps - good luck!

  • Update for Windows Vista (32-bit) does not always update

    Is there anyone who knows the same question.  I'm at the point where I'm done.  I spent too many unproductive hours on it, and Microsoft does not seem to care enough to post a fix.

    Hi StephanyMiller,

    1. Did you the latest changes on the computer?
    2. You are able to successfully install the other updates on the computer?
    3. You have security software installed on the computer?

    The KB number update you provided is incorrect.

    View update history to know which update is not installing.

    (a) open Windows Update by clicking Start , all programsand then click Windows Update.

    (b) in the left pane, click view update history.

    (c) to view more information about an update, double-click it.

    Once you know the update's KB number then visit the Microsoft Download and put the number in the search box, download and install the update manually.

    Quote your full version of Windows (for example, WinXP SP3;) Windows XP 64 - bit SP2; Vista SP1; Vista 64 - bit SP2; Win7; Win7 64 bit) when you post in a forum or a newsgroup. Please do it in your next reply.

    What application or antivirus security suite is installed and your current subscription?  What anti-spyware (other than Defender) applications?  What third-party firewall (if applicable)?

    A (another) Norton or McAfee application has already been installed on the computer (for example, a free trial version which is preinstalled when you bought it)?

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    NB: If you had no installed anti-virus application or subscription has expired * when the machine was first infected * and/or your subscription has expired since and/or the machine is not kept fully corrected in Windows Update, don't waste your time with any of the following: Format & reinstall Windows.  A repair install won't help!
