Problem starting Vista Business

I have a Compaq 615. A couple of days, he got more slow and slower - response time were tens of minutes. Finally I turned off. Yesterday, I tried to start it again. The first screen displays quickly, but he says then I'm locked and after that, nothing happens (in hours), cursor does not move, no answers with keyboard etc. Any ideas?

    Hey all,.

    I just took a XW6400 on Ebay and the auction has just declared that he only started the bios configuration screen.  I literally have no idea of the State of functioning of the parts below.  Here are the following specifications:

    4 GB RAM (has not considered whether it is ecc or not)

    Single XEON 5130 (2.0 ghz)

    ATI x 1300 video card

    40 GB SATA hard drive

    SATA 200 GB HDD

    DVD Rom

    DVD Writer/Rom

    Latest version of the BIOS: 2.38 (with the default values loaded)

    Part number: RB318UT #ABA

    Serial number: xxxxxxxxxx

    I use the computer for mainly surfing the net, playing some older games, but absolutely nothing of what the computer was destined (all resources, graphics intensive applications, etc.).  It's going to be my computer shop for internet research on how to fix pinball machines.  I am using computers for 30 years, so aware of all material am but not at a technical level of COMPUTING.  I can take pictures, or perform diagnostics that help solve this problem and post it here if necessary.

    I'm having a lot of trouble with a very slow loading Vista Business x 64 (ISO DVD created vistax64.com image).  It literally took about 8 hours now, from one day to the next, and I'm finally in the "Complete the Installation" installation (the progress bar green to low is about 75%) and he's been there 45 minutes now, but it could be longer, just noticed this after waking up and controlled again.  I would appreciate help with the following questions:

    #1: loading XP pro, the system stops just to the material 'verification' screen and locks upward.  Could be a problem with the Vista question above?

    #2: is it possible to load Windows 7 Home Premium on the machine, as well as the edition of Vista Business no?  The installation will simply not work on the machine if you use the standard version of Vista?

    #3: when you use the NON ecc memory, the computer performs strangely like that?  It is absolutely a requirement of memory ECC FB when not to use applications requiring?

    #4: if it finally load on the system and the system seems to work ok, is this slow loading problem a precursor to everything that you guys can imagine of?  Or I was just in the hospital?

    #5: when you add another processor, read the code of the same batch of CPU guarantees compatibility for a two-way configuration?  Or can I just get any other Xeon 5130?

    #6: I don't have a floppy drive on the system, but you guys can recommend a good hardware bootable USB or CD/DVD test software, which is a freeware if all goes well?

    #7: I lent my copy of Vista professional before, so I guess it's possible (but unlikely) someone could use the certificate of authenticity.  The installation say he is recorded online for you.  Is it possible that the copy has been used and is already registered to someone else?  Which would explain this problem?

    #8: is it possible to get a CD of HP restore again?

    I did the memory test on the Vista installation CD, and it passes.  I also shared my GForce 9800 GTX video card and am having the same problem.  Also, any general troubleshooting other thoughts would be appreciated.

    Edit: I went to the appointment of a DR and the come back about an hour and a half later, since this original post.  Now, during the installation screen complete, the progress bar has moved maybe another 10% is now about 85%.  It seems to load, but why so ssllooww?

    P.S. We have removed a number of your post for your secutiry. That is the information you probably don't want available to the public. -HP moderator of the Forum

    I got it to work.  Unfortunately, it is not useful for searching the Internet.  But i:

    Reduced system memory 2 gig.

    Renewed, cleaned and reinstall thermal paste for the cpu and the heatsink.

    removed the hard drive the system came with and just used well-known 200gig hard drive.

    Left the hard drive and cdrom SATA0 and SATA1, SATA2, and SATA3.

    And the big one, I loaded Win7 x 64 home premium.

    I'm typing on it now and updated as we speak.  However, I am always interested some of the answers to the questions.

    #1: what will happen if I used of non - ecc memory?  The system works not at all, or be slow?

    #2: and it is always possible to obtain HP restore disks?  (Edit 12/14)  I was not able to find a way to get drives install in addition to bring 2nd hand (ebay), but most of the original software is located on the support xw6600 site.

    I ordered 2 XEON Processors off ebay, another 8 GB of ram and the hp cpu heatsink and fan.  Time for fun!

  • Problem installation Vista Business 32 Bit ISO on Optiplex GX620

    I asked to re - install a company ISO of Vista Business 32-bit specific on some Optiplex GX620s former.

    These are the only computers that we have. I tried every method of installation has failed to halfway through or simply does not work.

    I tried:

    • Bootable flash drive (this worked the first time but is end of installation even after formatting the disc flash several times). I have been using this method.
    • External DVD USB drive (BIOS is not recognize it as a boot device)
    • Installation on an Optiplex 755, then proceed to the exchange of hard disks. (This causes a restart loop when the hard drive on the GX620 loading, I'm guessing that following a conflict of driver. I can't use the CD we since none of the GX620s have installation DVD players)

    My question: is there another way to install this ISO I'm not aware of, or someone knows a way to solve one of the above mentioned conflicts?

    I know that is a lot to ask for these older machines, but our resources are overwhelmed, and our budget is not allowing us to buy new desktop computers at the present time.

    Thanks in advance for any advice you can give.

    I would update your Windows 10130 then Windows 10 Pro machines to make them Windows 10 devices (should you decide to use them with Windows 10). Later, you can reinstall Windows Vista:

    http://dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/Windows-XPVISTA-%E2%86%92-Windows-10-free-upgrade/

    The Insider preview will soon expire so this upgrade path will be lost. In regards to the blue screen, run the full pre-launch F12 diagnostics:

  • Problems starting Vista Service pack 1 update - buckle boot - now

    Hello

    Vista Home Premium (SP0) ran on our home computer. Due to the loss of IE7 support on some sites, that we needed to update IE and then install Service Pack 1 (SP1). After 3 hours of nail-biting install the computer hooked to black screen. Reboot and reset revealed a restart loop. (SP1 was choice of Native Windows updater)

    This was the beginning of a strange troubleshooting. I consider myself a PC tech, but I discovered that this is not the case.

    • I started popping up in the Vista repair disk supplied with the PC, hoping to get the repair of the system than Vista point created before installing SP1. I got a blue screen after you start the DVD. STOP: 0x0000C1F5.
    • I jumped into a recovery CD UBCD4Win CD, I created a while ago with XP preinstalled runtime environment. Started good CD and read up on some forums. They asked to remove Pending.xml and another file which I can't put my finger on ATM there is no improvement to reboot loop or BSOD STOP.
      http://www.Google.com/search?q=remove+pending.XML+Vista+SP1+reboot+loop
    • I read on some forum more. I created a SystemRescueCD with a preinstalled environment location of linux. I deleted the file $Txflog. Following the instructions I can't boot the PC more: pre-launch control ok, black screen startup Windows system manager ntoskrnl.exe 0xC0000098.
      I have had no problems to start the Vista recovery DVDs. As stated in the guide that I tried to reset the system restore point created Vista before installing SP1. I get an error at the end of the restoration of the system: system recovery failed due to an unknown error 0 x 80070570.
      http://www.Google.com/search?q= \$Txflog+vista+remove+systemrescueCD
    • After a few Snort of the forum more than that I was instructed to copy system files in folder windows\system32 and drivers. However, I could not find the hal.dll file as instructed but copied the remaining files without a hitch. This has not changed the situation.
      (Stange done here, the cmd and the windows recovery environment guest is in Italian, despite the version of windows being a Dutch version. I chose the Dutch at first. is there a way I can change the language in Dutch?)
      http://www.Google.com/search?q=Ntoskrnl.exe+0xc0000098+HAL.dll+copy

    So I'm here. All possible solutions are welcome. Please ensure that they are based. I'll try to uninstall SP1 tomorrow through the Windows recovery environment guest. I do accept solutions involving a complete reinstallation of Vista. I have a Windows 7 DVD, but none touch 2nd. It's another language too (Dutch - 7 English Vista). So installation on a W7 is not a direct option.

    Please let me know something. Thank you guys!

    SP1 is not the issue.  I saw this with a lot of Dell computers at work.
    Unfortunately, the solution is a clean install of Vista with SP1 included in the installation DVD.

    If this is a Dell computer, you can contact Dell to obtain a copy of the appropriate disk Vista with SP1 (SP2) installed.

  • Problems starting Vista error: 0x8000FFFF catastrophic failure

    original title: Vista startup problems

    Hello

    Recently, my girlfriend was hurry to get to a file of his laptop computer. When she turned on, Windows was configuration of updates. She got impatient and forced a stop during Setup (holding the power button until the laptop is turned off). It turned back on it and got to the vista screen where the bars were loading scroll. But the problem was that they just kept scrolling and loading not OS even after 10-15 minutes. She has made a force off and turned back on the laptop. This time a screen come telling him to start windows normally or do a startup repair. She did the repair but it did not work. I came and tried to do a system restore to an earlier date, but the error message "Catastrophic failure (0x8000FFFF)" came and said that he was unable to be repaired. The computer still works in safe mode. I'll have to reformat his computer? Or is there something else I can do?

    She uses a Compaq laptop and running VISTA.

    Follow these steps to try to solve your problems of boot.

    Restore point:

    http://www.howtogeek.com/HOWTO/Windows-Vista/using-Windows-Vista-system-restore/

    Do Safe Mode system restore, if it is impossible to do in Normal Mode.

    Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.

    Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...

    Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.

    http://www.windowsvistauserguide.com/system_restore.htm

    Read the above for a very good graph shows how backward more than 5 days in the System Restore Points by checking the correct box.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    If restore work not and you do not have a Vista DVD from Microsoft, do a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:
    Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.
    When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.
    Link above shows what the process looks like and a manual, it load the repair options.
    NeoSmart containing the content of the Windows Vista DVD 'Recovery Centre', as we refer to him. It cannot be used to install or reinstall Windows Vista, and is just a Windows PE interface to recovering your PC. Technically, we could re-create this installation with downloadable media media freely from Microsoft (namely the Microsoft WAIK, several gigabyte download); but it is pretty darn decent of Microsoft to present Windows users who might not be able to create such a thing on their own.
    Read all the info on the website on how to create and use:
    ISO Burner:http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html
    It's a very good Vista startup repair disk.
    You can do a system restart tool, system, etc it restore.
    It is NOT a disc of resettlement.
    And the 32-bit is what normally comes on a computer, unless 64-bit.
  • Vista Business activation problems
    A year and a half ago, I had my hard drive failed and lost my installation of windows xp.  My computer, which was a computer professional, has a license key for businesses of vista on the back.  I finally got some money together and bought a new hard drive and installed Vista business because it was the key that is listed on the back.  Any help to solve this problem would be great.  I want to continue to use Vista if possible (because I have already installed a bunch of other programs and updates), but it's only a personal computer right now and not a business machine. Do not I have the business version of vista, I just want something that works.  Thank you.
    There is no obvious problem in your report.
    SLUI 4
    and press the Enter key
  • Windows Vista freezing, problems starting mode safe mode, Windows Update does not work, etc.
    Hi all. I am operating Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 1, 32-bit on an HP Pavilion dv6000.
    My problems started about two months ago, when I installed several updates through Windows Update. I started having problems with my USB ports (even if these pilots were not being updated) and the computer was never able to close successfully. I tried to uninstall these updates, but that did not fix the questions I had. I have also installed software (AutoCAD 2007) at the same time and uninstalled, nothing helps.
    Then my computer started to freeze after running for a few minutes. Time seems to vary from 5 minutes of good use for 1 hour, but I found that it works only because this so long, I only open a program or file and use it all the time (for example, reading a book in Adobe Acrobat format). If I try to open the program or additional files, go to control panel, etc. (read: if I do everything related to Windows Explorer) the computer crashes. I can still move my cursor but none of the windows meet, and I can't ctrl + alt + delete to enter the Task Manager (I get a black screen).
    I was manually shut down my computer every time that happens and boot in SafeMode several times. Sometimes when I try to start safe mode it is hampering the crcdisk file and turns off. It happens not every time, however. Sometimes, when it starts it running the disk check, and there has been some index files that it has been deleted and orphaned files that it has been moved.
    I tried to do a system restore to a point before the updates I've installed in October, but my computer has no points system, restore even if he says it was their creation before you install these updates.
    The last problem is that when I go to Windows Update, it says that I have never checked for or downloaded the updates in the 15 months that I've had the computer - is not true, I, he lost at the time of all the record of it. So although I would like to provide you with wonderful with a record of what I've updated and people uninstalled, I can't because all this information is gone. In addition, I can't connect to the internet to try to check the news updates, because our internet service runs a USB modem, which is not communicating properly with my computer.
    I hope someone has an idea of what's going on. I just can't understand the common point that all these questions arise, my technology skills are somewhat limited, so I hope for a relatively easy solution.
    Sarah
    BTW, all my files were backed up on external drives.
    I don't know Jack about computers, but I don't know that I went through almost exactly the same thing.  My pc was ok, then in a month or two, it took a nose dive.  something I did was too that much could not think of everything.  A friend told me to reset my bios to default settings and see what happens.  After having spent only 7 hours trying to teach myself on bios, I got stabbed in this area and it worked.  Everything is great runnng.  Now I can even right click on icons without crashing.
  • T61, Vista Business with Cisco VPN problem since the last update on the Lenovo site.
    Hello
    I use a T61, Vista Business, Cisco VPN Client v.5.0.02.0090.  Since my last update, October 2, 2008 on the Lenovo ThinkVantage Productivity Center site, I can't connect to my VPN Office. It was working perfectly before this software update. The only thing I remember is the update of the driver for Intel 4965AGN card v.12.x. I went to v.11.5 but it's not better.
    When I try to connect, I get the message "secure VPN connection terminated by a peer. "433 reason: (reason unspecified peer). I did a test with 'ping' IP address of the VPN and the response of the address.
    Usually, when the VPN Client is able to make the connection in the network connection window, I see "connection to the network space 2 (the Cisco VPN system map)" enabling / disabling Disable to activate the State. But there in my case, turn it off.
    I can connect with another PC using Windows XP. Thus, the VPN works.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you
    I met a very similar problem with my X61s. I was able to fix this by removing the print reading software for which an update was also installed on 2 Oct. As I barely use the fingerprint reader, it wasn't a problem for me. The Cisco VPN worked never better...
    Is there someone who can help get this application to run?
    Thanks for your help.
    AndyB
    PS: in case it helps: Tecra S5, ZoneAlarm, SuperAntiSpy, Webroot AV and Vista Business SP1
    I see that you have installed a lot of 3rd party software.
    Hey Buddy, I got the Zonealarm too and I wasn't satisfied. This tool always requires approvals and other applications didn't work properly.
    I m wondering if the Tempro crashed after installing a new OS from Toshiba. I mean you could test to see if a 3rd party tool affect this software.
    I would recommend taking the recovery disk and reinstall the operating system. Updated the Tempro, then check if the problem still persists.
    Sorry, but buddy is a way to discover what causes this problem.
