How to free up space in Bootcamp

I'm running out of space on my drive C Windows in Bootcamp and I would like to know if there is a sure way to eliminate files and free up some real estate.

I understand that there is a Disk Clean Up program that can be used in Windows 7, but I wish I knew someone who used it if it is OK to use.  Knowing Windows I tend to be more careful when it comes to delete stuff.

I used the Add/Remove Programs feature to get rid of the most obvious stuff, but there must be other less obvious files lying around that I could dump.

I would like suggestions.

Thank you

You can resize your Boot Camp partition to enlarge. DO NOT USE DISK UTILITY to resize Boot Camp partition. Use rather CampTune. What is your Boot Camp partition?

As to what files you delete, you can delete all your data and programs not used. Do not use the programs are the so-called 'clean up '. Use the uninstaller program that you did.

You can free up disk space (will also help get rid of the things that you do not use) through the following steps:

You can disable hibernation if it is enabled and you do not...

When you Hibernate your computer, Windows saves the contents of the system memory in the hiberfil.sys file. As a result, the size of the hiberfil.sys file will always be equal to the amount of physical memory in your system. If you don't use the Hibernate feature and want to reclaim the space used by Windows for the hiberfil.sys file, perform the following steps:

-Start the Control Panel Power Options applet (go to start, settings, Control Panel, and then click Power Options).
-Select the Hibernate tab, uncheck "Activate the hibernation", and then click OK. Although you might think otherwise, selecting never under "Hibernate" option on the power management tab does not delete the hiberfil.sys file.
-Windows remove the "Hibernate" option on the power management tab and delete the hiberfil.sys file.

You can control the amount of space your system restore can use...

    1. Click Start, right click my computer and then click Properties.
    2. click on the System Restore tab.
    3. highlight one of your readers (or C: If you only) and click on the button "settings".
4 change the percentage of disk space you want to allow... I suggest moving the slider until you have about 1 GB (1024 MB or close to that...)
    5. click on OK. Then click OK again.

You can control the amount of space used may or may not temporary Internet files...

Empty the temporary Internet files and reduce the size, that it stores a size between 64 MB and 128 MB...

-Open a copy of Microsoft Internet Explorer.
    -Select TOOLS - Internet Options.
-On the general tab in the section 'Temporary Internet files', follow these steps:
-Click on 'Delete the Cookies' (click OK)
-Click on "Settings" and change the "amount of disk space to use: ' something between 64 MB and 128 MB. (There may be many more now.)
    -Click OK.
-Click on 'Delete files', then select "Delete all offline content" (the box), and then click OK. (If you had a LOT, it can take 2 to 10 minutes or more).
-Once it's done, click OK, close Internet Explorer, open Internet Explorer.

Now that your system is generally free of malicious software (assuming you have an AntiVirus application), you've cleaned the "additional applications" that could be running and picking up your precious memory and the processor, you have authorized out of valuable and makes disk space as there are no problems with the drive itself and your Windows Update components are updates and should work fine - it is only only one other thing youpouvez wish to make:

Get and install the hardware device last drivers for your system hardware/system manufacturers support and/or download web site.

Yes, you can. I would, however, first back up the data before you extend the partition.

You must use the diskpart utility to extend the partition in the unallocated space. Basically, you need to delete and format the information contained in the other partitions.

This link should help you understand the diskpart utility

I only have 13% of my hard drive on the left. Is it possible to free up space by deleting some of those programs that have been improved by the new programs?

1 did you regular disk cleanup?

    Here's a tutorial for disk cleanup: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/76073-disk-cleanup.html

The tutorial has made 2 parts.
The 1st part is the classic disk cleanup which will give you back some dsik spaces.
The 2nd part (more Options) is to remove all of your points except the most recent restoration. This will give bring you a ton of disk space. ATTENTION: you need to do TR = ure it not there no probem with your computer before you use more Options, because you won't restore to fall back on 'old' points.

    2. recommend installing CCleaner.
    It's free.
Use it regularly and it will help recover you a lot of disk space back.
Attention, DO NOT use the register option. Saty away from him.

Here is the download link: http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner

3 invest in an external hard drive. Move all your personal files, such as picrures, documents, videos and program downloads on the external hard drive. Which will free up tons of space.
An external hard drive of 1 TB of capacity can be had for less than $ 150. 500 GB will be even cheaper.

  • D recovery: how to free up space

    original title: Recovery D:

My D: recovery is full and I'm trying to free up space on it, but it does not work what to do do?

Your PC hard disk contains a partition of the space dedicated to the recovery. The recovery Partition contains an image of the system with all the files initially installed on your computer at the factory operating system and applications software

Please, do not delete anyfiles in the recovery partition. This could make an impossible system in case of system failure recovery

If you have stored your personal files on the recovery partition, remove them with care

Contact the manufacturer of your computer for more information

    I hope this helps

Download a program like TreeSize Free (http://www.jam-software.com/treesize_free/) to see where the files take up a lot of space.  Be aware that deleting files without knowing what you're doing can cause your system to be unable to restart or cause instability can so be sure you know that you are deleting before you start.  There is no way to extend one hard disk other than to replace it, in which case you need to copy all the files from your old drive to the new.
