How to import a second iPhoto library in Lightroom?

I have several libraries in iPhoto. When I followed the instructions: user/Pictures/iPhoto library/see the package content/Master/Duplicate/drag to desktop/slide in Lightroom, I have no problem to import these images. When I choose the file titled... Pictures/iPhoto Galapagos, I am unable to see the package of content/Master and duplicate images in this file. What I am doing wrong? How to import this library second in Lightroom?

Thank you

Try to export versions of iPhoto to the desktop or create a folder named in the Finder. They will include any adjustments you have made. Then put in LR using:

Import > add

    Hi stuartm70056443

    I'm sorry, but there is no available plugin to import the photo library. At least not for the moment. The photos app is new, so there might be a plugin for photos in the future.

    For the moment I do it this way: export the photo of the photos as "unmodified original" app, and then import it in Lightroom.

  • How can I keep an iPhoto library, update on two Macs without copying the entire library every time?

    Sorry if this has been asked several times before, I looked but could not find an answer to my specific questions...

    Currently, I keep my iPhoto on two different Macs library by periodically copy the package to the main computer entire iPhoto library to an external hard drive, then loading into iPhoto on the second machine.

    The problem is that it takes a lot of time and I find myself doing less, which means that I am often without recent photos I want to join the second Mac. Is there a way to copy only the new pictures/videos added since the last copy was made on the hard drive, which I can then add to the library on the second machine without replacing the entire library?

    I was wondering if it was possible to use the software of incremental backup to backup on the external drive that I could then use to update the second mac. In this case would be that I have to replace the entire library on the second mac every time, but at least it would be a faster process that also copy entire library since the first mac in the first place.

    Or I can just select the most recent photos and videos in iPhoto and batch export via the external hard drive to the second mac? I think I read that this is not copy all information such as good changes? Or am I wrong?

    If none of this is possible in the way that I'm demanding, could someone suggest an alternative photo storage software for Mac that I can have more control on?

    Yes, you can use an incremental backup or clone (like Carbon Copy clone or SuperDuper) program for updating the second library - this will not libraries merge in order to not do that is you make changes to the second library on this machine - it only makes library 2 exactly as 1 library each time that you run

  • How to import the old iMovie library

    Searched the Internet but nothing helped.

    I finally decided to use the new iMovie app (version 10? 2013 version? is the one with the purple icon). I have been using the old version of iMovie all this time. How to import my old library iMovie and projects in the news? What I found on the internet that says that when I start to iMovie for the first time, it is supposed to prompt me to do it, but it's not.

    Hold down the Alt/option key at startup to iMovie, so that it points to the library. After iMovie will remember.

  • How to migrate pictures from iPhoto Library on external drive to the Photos?

    I deleted my computer today and try to import photos from a backup Time Machine, in Photos. I find the iPhoto library and clicked on "View the contents of the package" to reveal a bunch of files. I'm currently moving the entire iPhoto library on my desk, but it's more than 100 GB in size, so I was wondering if there is a more direct method? (All photos are stored in the folder 'Masters'? Could import from there?)

    Please if someone could help me with this I would be very happy! Sorry for the ambiguity in my formulation of the question and happy New Year! Thank you in advance.

    To migrate the iPhoto Library from a backup Time Machine pictures use Time Machine to restore the iPhoto library to a folder on your Mac. Then drag the library restored on the Photos icon in the Dock to open the iPhoto library. Photos will create a library of Photos transferred from the iPhoto library with all your changes, titles, captions, keywords, assigned albums. If you try to import the folder of masters you will only import the photos, but lose the structure of the library and all your work that you did in iPhoto.

  • How to import photos from iPhoto to the Photos without losing the date structure

    Hey there,

    Today, I realized that not all my photos to the Macintosh iPhotos Photos last year. At this point, I'm missing about 700 photos.

    Is it possible to merge the iPhoto to the existing photo library library while keeping the structure of date? I tried just to drag some photos but they then imported as if they were taken today.

    If possible, I want to keep the date structure so that all the photos that were taken at the same time will remain together.

    Export images from iPhoto to the Finder, and then import them to Photos.

    File-> edit

    This trick of the user

    https://discussions.Apple.com/docs/doc-4921

    a details of the options in the export dialog.

    Ignore the file date.

    There are two types of metadata involved considering the jpeg or other image file.

    One is the data file. That's what shows the Finder. That tells you nothing about the content of the file, just the file itself.

    The problem with the metadata file is that it is easy to change the file is moved from one place to another or exported, by electronic mail, downloaded, etc.

    Photographs have also obtained the Exif and IPTC metadata. The date and time that your camera broken that the photo is saved in the Exif metadata. Without worrying if that said the date of the file, this is the actual time recorded by the camera.

    Applications of photo like iPhoto, Aperture, Lightroom, Picasa, Photoshop etc. get their date and time of the Exif metadata.

    When you export from iPhoto to the new Finder file is created containing your Photo (and its Exif). The file date is reported - exactly - the date of export.

    However, does not change the Date of the Photo.

    The problem is that the Finder doesn't work with Exif.

    Thus, your photo has the correct date and the file does, but these are different things. To perform a sort on the date of the Photo, you will need to use a photo app.

  • Move from Mac to PC/Windows 7: How can I move my iPhoto library on PowerPC Mac to a Windows 7 PC?

    I'm a Mac... soon to a PC?  My Apple iBook G4 is in need of a replacement, and I think to move to a Windows 7 laptop.  There is virtually no information online about the passage of a Mac to PC.  Given all the ads of MSFT, I expected more help.

    My main concern is transfer my photos easily without having to reorganize everything.  I currently use iPhoto and there is no version for the PC.  I'd appreciate any help advice with this process.  Is there a good program similar to iPhoto, which is recommended?

    More tips or advice on failover in general would be also greatly appreciated.

    After importation, Windows Live Photo Gallery will recognize the organizational structure that iPhoto had or will I have to create new folders and spend time re-organizing?

    Unfortunately, you will need to spend some time of reorganization. If you have metadata attached to photos, Windows Live Photo Gallery will recognize it. If you have currently organized in folders in OS X, it will make the organization process much easier to copy them into the images folder in Windows 7 and they will be automatically entered in the photo library.

  • How to import symbols from a library of symbols?

    I need to import a file symbols have in other documents by script, then place them by replacing the objects.

    I have no problem with the replacement of a symbol when it is part of the symbols of the document.

    What I can't do, it's importing a collection of symbol from a file have to the active document.

    I load the document symbol as a library of symbols, in this way:

    var openOptions = new OpenOptions();
    openOptions.openAs = LibraryType.SYMBOLS;
    var symbolDocument = app.open(File('/d/test/symbol_collection.ai'), null, openOptions);

    It works well because it opens a window from the collection of symbols in Illustrator.

    But I don't know how to get these symbols to copy them into the active document.

    When I call symbolDocument.symbols, I get an error "the document is more open."

    So, how to copy symbols? How to access this collection of symbol in Illustrator, other than the use of the symbolDocument?

    Thank you very much.

    ... or, duplicate works as well, missing just your destination document

    var destinationDoc = app.activeDocument;
    var symbolDocument = app.open(File('/c/temp/GuillochePatternTutorial.ai'));

    var mySymbol = symbolDocument.symbols["Cube"];
    var symbolItem = symbolDocument.symbolItems.add(mySymbol);

    var symbolCopy = symbolItem.duplicate(destinationDoc);

  • How to import pictures to my library of Photos on Macbook Pro if I moved the library to an external drive to save space?

    Recently, I copied my library of Photos (Yosemite version 10.10.5) on an external drive, so I can then delete it to free up disk space. I've read some older articles (a few years), because I can't find the newest, who speak of creation and management of affairs to a new library, but it does not appear to match the drop-down menus, I work with that.  I myself as much as to rename the Library copy, I still have on my Macbook Pro, but don't know what to do to go from there, since I seem to be outdated instructions.  I have not removed the library still existing on my Mac because I fear that I won't be able to undo everything I do.  Can someone enlighten me please?  Thanks in advance for your help.

    Pictures always open and use the last use library - hold down the option key while launching Photos and choose the library on the EHD (note the EHD must be formatted Mac OS extended (journaled), be connected via a fast wired connection and should not be used as a backup volume Time Machine)-a complete test it and then you can remove the library on the internal disk (test once more before emptying the Recycle Bin)

  • Photos app cannot import iPhoto library

    My iPhoto library is quite large, 32 GB for 9 500 items.  I've recently updated my operating system and related applications, and when I use the Photo app to import the old iPhoto library, it shows 'Prepare the library' and starts the import process, but hangs up to 24% each time.  When I look in the pictures folder, I find a folder called "Photo library" normal which is fully navigable (I don't have to display the contents of the package), and find a file titled 'Masters' who is the same size as the iPhoto 'Originals' folder.  I then tried to circumvent the import process by default app Photos, creating a new library, and then import the file of masters - it finds about 9 100 files to import, short of 9 500 originals).  If I anything I'll miss 400 originals, not to mention the modified in iPhoto versions.

    I found a lot of people pointing out the import problems, but none that hangs up the same and every time, and no one Ive seen publishes the solution.
