How to limit external drives that research of bridge?

I have the problem that I find myself working on bridge selected files that have been selected from my external hard drive.

This can lead to catastrophic results, of course, when the user will overwrite the incorrect files, etc.

I watched all the Bridge preferences, but I can't find anywhere to limit the search to all the original main hard drive.

Of course, it is nice to have the backup on the external drive, (that I cloned with Carbon Copy Cloner)... but often I get to work on a photoshop file and realize I worked on a file that origin of the disk external and not the original HARD disk.

It's driving me crazy!

So... is there a way to limit external drives that will search in Bridge?

Thank you!

Jn

So... is there a way to limit external drives that will search in Bridge?

Yes, in the menu search (cmd + F or menu: Edit / Find) you have a window that Let's select you the source where search, if you choose your hard drive as a source to look into it will find only files there.

The folder Panel can also be useful for your purpose, although I personally almost never need because the option find in Bridge, it might be when having bridge pointed toward a drive or a folder up right quick search field in the Bridge window could also do the trick for you.

Of course, it is nice to have the backup on the external drive, (I cloned with Carbon Copy Cloner)...

I would not use Carbon Copy Cloner to the back upward, but a dedicated backup application like synchronize Pro, simply copy all the content you want to use for the external HARD drive backup and customize sync as you like it (when to back up, archive older files etc. etc.). There are also many others (some are free) backup utilities.

  • Why can't I just save it on an external drive that has 279 GB free

I'm trying to backup to an external drive from WD. On the window of the Control Panel, it reports that there are 279,74 GB of free space. When I try to run a backup Windows it works for about 10 minutes and I get a message error - "that your backups are being saved on the disk doesn't have enough space frtee.

I use an external drive Western Digital and a Dell 64 bit XPS 8500.

I suggest avoid you the Windows backup program and you get a good commercial backup program. This forum meets for a windows problem reports. I know that I was very impressed when I tried it. Three I'm familiar with and like Norton Ghost (which I use for 8 years no 1 problem), Easeus Todo Backup free, you can download it from

http://www.TODO-backup.com/products/home/free-backup-software.htm and Memeo , which has 30 day free trial and you can buy it for $29.99 - you can download it from http://memeo.com . You can get Ghost for almost nothing (like me), if you look at the sales.

The March 2012 issue of PC World is very high on the program FREE of Easeus and I tested it recently in a variety of configurations; and must say that I am very impressed. As Ghost will support up to a network drive and it will create a bootable CD for when your PC does not start. See commentary to PC World to

External hard drives are the best for backup. You can get a 500 GB one for $70 and a 1.5 to one for about $90. You can also buy a flash drive of 32 GB for less than $20. It is the best insurance you can buy ever!

  • How to uninstall printer driver that is not installed on the computer

Original title: my "unknown device" is a printer I own is no longer!

To solve the problem "code 28", I have to re - install the driver for HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 - but the printer is no longer installed, and in fact I is even more has the printer.  The HP printer appears on the screen "devices and printers", but when I click on the yellow triangle on my laptop device, it brings me to the unidentified printer and the hardware - MF\Officejet_Pro_8500_A910 & WSD & IP_PRINT ID.  How can I uninstall a printer that is not installed, or how can I update the driver on a printer that is not installed.

Thanks for reminding me about MalwareBytes and SuperAntiSpyware.  I used MalwareBytes a few years ago to kill a particularly tenacious virus that prevented me from my virus program execution.  I ran the two--identified only 4 files MalwareBytes and removed and SuperAntiSpyware found 286 tracking cookies - I zapped them.

Now, the best news of all...

Child of a friend's House of the college - he won grants and national contest for his expertise in computers/software diagnosis and repairs as a sophomore in high school.  He stopped on the way back to decipher problems with computers on the local school district and spent every three minutes solving my problem.  I don't really know what he was doing - he did so quickly - but he said to send you the link and you will understand it better than I could explain it.

The yellow warning triangle disappeared, and the unidentified printer is no longer there.

I want to thank all those who contributed to this thread - your persistence and patience has been remarkable.  I learned a lot from the experience even if I was not able to completely solve the problem.  I congratulate you all.

  • Can I save a project to an external drive that I'm still trying?

I have a problem with space on my computer right now, working on 2 projects at the same time. (a had been inactive for some time and now it's gone) So, as you may have guessed, I'm out of space as one of them does not save on my external hard drive. (wasn't the intention of always working on both) so I can't finish the one I'm working on this problem of space. I would spend the other project outdoors, but I fear that I will lose it. Since I almost finished it too I don't know what I should do in this situation.

Someone at - it a good response/work of this type of problem? Is there a way I can save the other project on my outside now? Without losing the support or the project?

Thank you in advance! (and YES the next project that I will record outdoors since the beginning!)

    ruez2bu2

Your project file itself does not use a lot of space, but your media work "hidden" files take up much space

Moving your media files means that you will need to add a link to it when you open the project... which is a pretty painless process "generally"

The other thing you need to do, when you create a project, is manually set all your files cache on the disk with more space... read drive C http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1007934?tstart=0 and adjust your settings accordingly (reply 4) and delete the cache on your boot disk, so recreate your outdoor space

  • How to remove clips on external drive with fcpx

    Hi all

Using the latest version of fcpx.  I went to store stuff today in order to free up space on the external drive that contains all my data of fcpx.

To do this, I deleted unused takes.  So I select a bunch of clips > right click > move to trash > empty trash > fact.  Or so I thought.

After doing this for a while, I was wondering how much space I had erased on the external hard drive so I click on 'get info' and find it strange that I didn't win any space at all.  Then in fcpx I I tried to right click on a clip of a decision-making > reveal in finder and I can see all the other clips I had "deleted" always there on the external hard drive!

Can someone explain to me how to remove clips on an external drive in fcpx?  Also is there a simple way to fix the confusion I have now?  Basically, fcpx displays the content exactly as I want it to be on the external hard drive, it just does not actually all that...  Please don't tell me I have to manually locate and delete each clip - there are hundreds!

    Much help appreciated

When you say that your clips are on an external drive do you mean that they are in a folder outside the library? If this is the case, yes they must be deleted manually.

  • What is a good external backup drive that won't empty my wallet

I need to get an external backup drive for my PC, but do not know how to do in this regard. I've seen most are very Exspensive. Someone told me to get Seagate? Is - this right or which is a good thing?

... Someone told me to get Seagate?

Seagate is trustworthy and has been for a long time. I also like WD (Western Digital).

... I've seen most are very Exspensive...

The 'expensive' is subjective. The external drives that I've seen recently are <70 bucks="" per=""> terabyte. You can pay more for the bells and whistles of an external box which was dazzled, and you might get a player with a better fault tolerance.
To say that males 70 from the perspective of my point of view, thirty years ago I paid $ 1,800 for a 160MB HARD internal disk.

  • How formatting a Mac OS external drive in windows 7

    Hi guys

Got an external drive that is mac OS. Disk management sees in car with no details. All options, including the "Format", is grayed out except to 'Delete Volume '. Question: How can I format this drive in windows 7 Home premium. No access to a mac, PC, to get in shape first.

If the TrekDozer solution does not work, you can try the diskpart.exe command-line utility.

    • In a command line window, type diskpart
    • List type
    • Find the desired disc, and then type select disk 0 (or whatever number it is, but make sure that you get it right!)
    • Format type
At this point, you can create a partition with diskpart, or use the disk management GUI.
