  • How to make a backup recovery disk (usb) for my new XPS8700?

    Hello

Please bear with me as I'm pretty much computer illiterate.

I just bought a Dell XPS8700 with Win8.1 for my partner for Christmas.  It came with 2 TB HD cache & 32 GB of SSD.  Round 6 months. from now on I intend to buy a 120 GB SSD for upgrading its system & will use for the operating system.   I do not know how to do this (I have an idea... looked. vids online, etc.), but what I need to know is > how to make a backup for its new computer recovery disk (so that I can put it aside for when I get the new SSD).  I don't even know if that's actually what you still call it (recovert disc?) or if it is called "backup of factory drive?

Basically, I want to put Win8.1 on a USB key so I can use this more later to reinstall it on an SSD.

I bought a Lexar 32 GB USB (3.0) to use for this.

Can someone "please" give me a step by step on how to go about doing this?

    Thank you!

  • How to make a backup set full of files that you selected (in Windows 7)?

If I click on 'save now' in Windows 7 will do a backup full of selected files?

I've finally found out of backups scheduled in Windows 7 because I could never determine what was a 'set' as there are has no indicators.

So the question is: in the future, I just want to complete backups of all the files I've selected every time I want to (since I still find the options for others) to perform a full backup what I do in the backup and restore window?

I'm sorry to say this, but the function of backup on Windows 7 is one of the worst I've ever seen - taking control of the user for what type of backup, they are done but never explain what is contained in a 'set '.   "Windows periodically make a new backup set...". ', they say.  Really? When? Why do I see a game with 250 GB, a second 'package' with 35 GB and when I click on 'save now' the file was 197 GB?  What is contained in these 35 GB?  Incremental?  Differential?  The secret of the Dead Sea Scrolls?

I'm not the first user to this problem, that is why users will third-party backup programs.  But it amazes me that MS cannot go down this basic procedure and explain it to the user.

Backup programs work very well with the following options:

Ask the user if they want to (1) create a 'complete' backup of the selected data, (2) create a "premium" with the files changed, or (3) "incremental" with the added files.  Indicate what kind of file the user seeks to him once it was created.  Is it so difficult?  .  In an attempt to "dumb down" the process there desperately ready to confusion with the result that if you delete a 'set' to clear a space not sure what you are deleting - very dangerous.

If the user wants to simplify and give software MS control software HAS yet to tell them what a 'set' is and what it contains. (full/differential/differential)   Otherwise, you cannot delete all files or sets for fear of erase something essential.   And you won't find until you crushed.

    Hello

Windows Backup allows you to make copies of data files for all people who use the computer. You can let Windows choose what to back up or you can select individual files, libraries, and drives that you want to save. By default, your backups are created on a regular basis. You can change the schedule and you can manually create a backup at any time. Once you have configured Windows backup, Windows keeps track of the files and folders that are new or modified and adds them to your backup.

  • Windows 7: when you save in any application, how to make a list (instead of small glass that must be extended every time) or maximized navigation pane

When I 'Save' or ' Save as ' in any application I usually get a very small window in which navigate through drives, directories, files etc. to find the location where I want to make the stop.  It's very frustrating to have to maximize this window whenever I want to save a file by dragging down to the left, but the next time, he's back for a miserably small window or the new pane. Please help, thanks in advance.

Any window that you want to resize all the time must be the last closed window. This includes now does no other windows minimized in the taskbar.

Take the corners of the window and drag it to the format full screen. Do not use to expand. First close all other windows via the taskbar and this last one. Windows will remember the size of the last closed window the next time that you open the program.

  • 802 switch Cisco 3750. 1 x: how to stop a retry of authentication for clients that are not authorized

    Hi experts,

I'm trying to stop trying to authenticate for the guests. They will not have the credentials to be authorzied and we'll put in the guest VLAN. However, the switch always seems to default retries the authentication every 15 seconds approximately. It is fine if the guests are rare, but I'm being implemented in a hotel where most of the users are invited (like 1000 of them at the same time...).

I really need to turn off the coast or at least find a timer to reduce the frequency... It is urgent, because the hotel is about to open... Here is the config I put on an interface:

    switchport access vlan 1055
    switchport mode access
    switchport nonegotiate
    switchport voice vlan 657
    IP access-group ACL_PortIso_IDF21 in
authentication event failure action allow vlan 1055
no response from the authentication event action allow vlan 1055
    multi-domain of host-mode authentication
Auto control of the port of authentication
    protect the violation of authentication

    dot1x timeout that outfit-300
    No cdp enable
    spanning tree portfast
    spanning tree enable bpduguard
no ip igmp snooping tcn flood

    Thank you!

    I guess what is happening.

    dot1x in your configuration falls down after tx-period (max-reauth-req + 1) X that for you 22 seconds.

AUTH MGR (the software that controls (dot1x / MAB / webauth) is probably set to restart every 60 seconds.)

    You can check this with:

    ' performance show all | b X / Y'-replace x / y with the correct port you are testing with.

Look for the command 'restart timer authentication 60'.

Try setting it to 0. If IOS doesn't let you change it, thanks for posting your version of the software.

    Hello

I think that it s a good idea to make a backup on your laptop.

You have created the Toshiba recovery disks? When you bought a Toshiba laptop, you must create these disks. If you have a virus or something else with these discs, you can get the factory settings on your laptop.

You can create discs with the Toshiba recovery disc creator and if you didn t again, you get the following message:

  • How to make a restart of disk with the files and data, that is to say, to the profession of XP

I looked at my hard drive and have little or nothing left to free space, and I d ' attribute of * on my pc, I have removed more than half of it I do not either, but the hard drive still does not seem to move with more free space. so I was wondering if someone can tell me how to make a backup of drive for windows and programs, but not all the other files that I have on my hard drive, I would put the disc that came with the pc, but I left it out and the dog he finished, numbers and all, I can reinstall everything I need later ,,

It is not a method of "reset" of windows, se...

also, there are 'boot' cd that can be made, but they cannot be used to start windows.

what they do is to start the computer with their own proprietary software, being generally utility to repair the file system.

Subsequently, it is the hope that xp can then start by itself.

don't know exactly what your situation is.   However, it seems that it would be a good idea to mount this hard drive as a slave / secondary drive on a working computer.   all computers can have at least 2 hard drives installed at the same time.

in any case, if this drive can be enslaved on a working computer, you can use this computer to reconcile the master file table, i.e. to check the disk, then it - defrag since you had deleted half of the records of the file system.

by the way, if your pc is not stable, how would you be able to make a bootable cd?

  • How to make a backup copy of my Sansa Fuze 2 GB

Hello! Can someone tell me how to make a backup copy of my Sansa Fuze 2 GB. I'm going to replace because the wheel is not working properly and I ask (the agent on the Technical Support) on all my music that I have on my MP3 and they tell me to make a copy, but whenever I downloaded on Windows Media Player, I can listen to, but as soon as I disconnect my MP3, I can't play anymore. Can someone help me please, I don't want to lose all my music. Or as a matter of fact again downloaded (too many site to visit again)

You can manually copy your music from the device to the computer using Windows Explorer, often referred to as 'My Computer' or just 'computer' in different versions of Windows by drag-and-drop, or open the Windows Media Player and "copy of the device" after clicking on the tab sync.

It is also possible to copy works by using an application like Media Monkey too.

Many people confused if the Sansa was initially loaded using never WiMP, many are realizing that the application works in both directions.

Remember, it is important to always have a backup of your music!  It will save you grief!
