How to make Photoshop default to open JPEG files.

Hello:

I wonder how PS 6 (CS6) the default for opening JPEG files? Right now, all I have is 6 (I deleted 3). RAW files open with a double-click in PS6. JPEG files by default however seen during the opening of a double click. To open in PS I have to right-click and drag on and up to 6 PS to open.

Thank you.

I use a MacBook Pro

Cmd (information) on a selected jpeg file on your desktop, choose the application you want to open, and then click on the button 'Change everything' for all JPEG files.

  • Photoshop does not open jpeg files

I'm working on a Mac OS 10.8.5 and run Photoshop CC 2104. For these days so I'm opening a JPEG in photoshop, that it continues to throw up "could not complete your request because the file was not found." No matter where I try to open the file from or in what manner. for example the menu "open file" or if I drag the file to the PS icon in the dock. I uninstalled the program and reinstalled and still the problem occurs. All other file types open without a problem and the JPEGs open in other applications just not Photoshop. I really need to get this sorted out as it's obviously influence my work.

    Thanks in advance!

The problem here is that the camera Raw Plugin is too recent for the version of Mac OS x you have. What you need to do is downgrade from version to version 9.4 9.5 and everything will be fine. Older versions of Mac OS x are not compatible with Camera Raw 9.5 and beyond

  • Definition of Photoshop CC 2014 as my "default program" to open JPEG files in Windows 7

I just installed Photoshop CC 2014 on my Windows 7 computer. I put Photoshop as my "default program" to open JPEG files. Now when I double-click a JPEG, Photoshop CC will launch instead of 2014 CC Photoshop. I noticed that the executable files for all versions of Photoshop are "Photoshop.exe" (no wonder that windows merges). If I changed the name of the executable file for Photoshop CC 2014 to something like "Photoshop2014.exe" then Windows will allow me to choose the program as my "default program" to open a JPEG file, however it is therefore impossible for me to open the files in Lightroom. Lightroom to Photoshop CC will default.

I changed the name of the executable file for Photoshop CC 2014 to "Photoshop.exe" and renamed all the executable files for my older versions of Photoshop. It still does not work.

Should I make certain types of changes in the registry?

It's the post on this site: Re: Adobe CS6 file associations are all seeds

Simply change the directory to the correct EXE for cc 2014 and you should be good.

This is a Registry fix for Win7 machines for the file association problem.

    This from TinusHDCA user:

I installed Photoshop CS6, then found CS5 was always there. I thought, Hey, I don't have CS5, so I uninstalled CS5. then I discovered that Photoshop was no longer available in "Open with", when right clicking on an image...

I went into the registry, HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\Photoshop.exe\shell\open\command, and changed (by default) of "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5 (64 Bit) \Photoshop.exe" '%1' to "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS6 (64 Bit) \Photoshop.exe" '%1' (so changed CS5 to CS6) - and now I see "Adobe Photoshop CS6" in my list 'Open with' when right-clicking on an image...

  • I can not open JPEG files. When I try to make my computer goes to the word and gives me strings of unreadable code. How can I correct the problem and open JPEG files?

Cannot open JPEG files. Computer to the word when attempted and gives the unreadable code strings. Corrective action?

The file association seems to be incorrect.  To rememdy this...

Right-click on any jpeg and select 'Open with' in the menu.

From there, you should have several options, select Windows Picture Veiwer or anything that makes sense on your pc.

If it opens correctly, close it, and then right-click again.

Rather than choose the same program, at the bottom you should see "Choose program" click on it and select the application that worked, then check the box that says "always use the program selected to reopen this file type."

OK out of there and you should be good to go.

How to make the default text size and line spacing in small Sticky Notes

    Hello

I suggest that you try the method below and check if it helps.

Method 1: analysis of auditor of file system (CFS)

System File Checker is a Windows utility that allows users to find corruptions in Windows system files and restore the damaged files. To perform a scan of the SFC, check out the link: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929833.

Note: the steps for Windows 8/8.1, works perfectly with Windows 10.

    Method 2: clean boot

A clean boot is executed to start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This will eliminate software conflicts that occur when you install a program, an update or when you run a program in Windows. Follow the link to perform the clean boot: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929135.

  • Error message in Photoshop CC 2014 trying to open JPEG files

After installing the updates of Photoshop CC 2014, one a few days ago I am not able to open JPEG files.  Whenever I try to open a JPEG file, I get the following error.  I tried to uninstall the program yesterday and put it back, but still having the same problem.

Here is the version of Photoshop that I use...

    Screen Shot 2016-04-27 at 8.53.02 AM.png

Because you have CC 2014 on a Mac, which tells me that your OSX is probably 10.8 or less.

The updated Camera Raw, 9.5 causes this error due to a conflict with older versions of Mac OS x, and you go back to 9.4

Setup for 9.4 is in this technote: error: 'File not found' when opening JPEG files

So just follow the instructions and you should be fine.

It worked, now I'm back in business!

PS. along the way, I installed Camera Raw 8.3 (manual drag-and - déposer), in response to advice on a pretty old thread, and that worked as well.

    Hi nancye22519208 ,

Please right-click on any PDF on your system, then go to properties > under general, you will find "opens with". Here you will see 'change' option, by clicking on it, wil give you a window from which you can choose the Acrobat Standard XI as a default for PDF files.

How to make a link to open it in another window? I ticked the box in the hyperlink box, but nothing happens when I click on the link in the preview. The link works when I uncheck the box, but I want to open it in a separate window.

    Hello

The link may not work in preview (when the option to open the link in a new tab is checked) however this will work if you do a file > preview page/site in the browser.

Overview of Muse has only a single tab and impossible to open a tab/window, this is why this feature doesn't work in preview of Muse. but works in preview in the browser and in the published site.

  • Reset Windows Picture and FAX viewer as the default value for jpeg files after loading of Corel

I put Windows Picture and FAX Viewer by default to open jpeg, tiff and other pictures, so it appeared as an option in the drop-down list to view attachments that have been downloaded. After loading the software Corel Draw, it is now the only option to open photo files even if Windows Picture and FAX viewer is always defined as the default value. How to restore Windows Picture and FAX Viewer as a choice?

Have you looked into the Corel software preferences to see if you can cancel these associations?
