How to maximize battery life battery with Lithium-ion batteries?

Hi all

There are discussions severay about the duration of battery life.
Toshiba said on http://support.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/FAQ35007L0020R01.htm that:
Discharge the battery completely before recharging, will allow the battery to be charged to its highest capacity
But this and other points do not comfirm maximum lifetime of the battery of the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lithium_ion_battery information

Question: What is the best option to maximize battery life battery with Lithium-ion batteries?

Hello

I wonder why you n check the user's manual t or have you checked it?
The manual provides many useful tips, it confirms the information provided in document Toshiba

However, I assume that the information provided in the document of Toshiba relate to Toshiba laptops and the wikipedia article is general information

I have several laptops at home and I still have the battery charged and completely acquitted in the first three, four times.
You know, you can compare the situation of a laptop with the batteries of mobile phones battery. It s always advised to load and unload completely the battery because of the effect of stack memory.

But from my personal experience each battery loses life after 1 performance 1.5 year.

    Hello

What to say dude battery working time depends on the use of the laptop and on the performance of the battery.
I put t know what exactly the battery delivered with this laptop, but as far as I know it s a common standard battery. If you want to use the laptop much more time, I advise you to buy the stronger battery; for example, with 6000-8000mAh with Adapter Cable.

By the way; You can configure the use of battery power in Vista power options.
If you wish, you can create a new configuration of the plant to get the best performance from the battery.

    Hey Buddy,

You can maximize the life of the dough if you always remove the battery if you n t necessary e.g. in the House where you can work with AC/DC adapter.
In addition, the battery must always be fully charged and be invoiced if it s empty.

Sorry, buddy, but a Qosmio laptop needs a lot more power as a Tecra but the Qosmio is faster.

First he must know that the life expectancy of the batteries depends on the use of the laptop.
Secondly I know this laptop came with a standard battery of 2000mAh.

On the Toshiba page under Option & accessories I found a compatible battery pack 8, 4300mAh reference: PA3420U-1BRS

I just installed the new Lenovo Thinkvantage Toolbox on my T42p.  He advised install Power Manager.  I started installation and he says that maximize battery would have eliminated before installation can continue.  I said OK and nothing happened.  I tried several times with the same results.  Maximize battery does not appear in the Add/Remove software list.

The error in the Toolbox continues to say that my battery status cannot be determined without Power Manager installed.

  • accidentally drop a lithium-ion battery?

The other day, when my battery handling, I accidentally dropped it from a height of at least 1.4 m or more. The speech he gave on was very thinly papered, although he always landed with a thud.

Maybe I'm just paranoid, but out of curiosity, could outside forces like these damage a battery lithium-ion battery somehow?

If the battery still works, I wouldn't worry, and most likely the battery is fine. If you are worried that the battery life will be reduced or something like that because of the fall that I doubt will happen. If you would have noticed the fall because of the damage probably already and don't see any reason why you should have to worry about.

But an absolute guarantee that the decline caused no damage, I do not think that anyone could give you for sure.

  • Battery Lithium-ion storage

I use my HP G72 laptop around the House and always plug into a wall outlet (be careful to first connect to the laptop and only then in the socket). I don't keep it turned on all the time, but use it only about one or two hours a day. Since he does not need the battery in these circumstances, it seems logical that the battery will last longer if it is placed in long-term storage. I saw two separate proposals on the Lithium-Ion battery storage: 1) store with only a 40% charge in a fridge and 2) store with only a charge of 40% at room temperature (68 ° F 70 ° f). Suggestion #1 came http://www.techrepublic.com, #2 suggestion is on the site of HP. From my experience with photography, I have always stored film and batteries in the refrigerator and found that they remain fresh and usable for years after their expiration date. Now, this raises two questions: Q1) will be the battery actually changed any longer if I remove it from the laptop computer, or is - this unimportant either inside your computer laptop or stored? (Q2) storage is the answer, someone has a direct empirical evidence of how best to store a Lithium-Ion battery? It's... 40% at room temperature, or 40 percent in a refrigerator?

    Hello

I would recommend definetely store battery in charge of 40% and in a refrigerator.  I think that 40% is the highest level of support for storage due to the nature of the chemistry of cells and higher temperatures are also as well with a more rapid loss of capacity.  You may be interested on the link below which includes graphical data on the breakdown of the cell of lithium batteries.

  • How to recalibrate battery on Satellite Pro A10?

The battery that came with my laptop has begun behaving oddly a couple of months (it's almost two years, Satellite Pro A10). She arrive at about 50% and then immediately fall to about 2 percent. After setting up with this for a few months, I finally bit the bullet and bought a new battery (charge not trivial, I might add). The new battery behaves exactly the same way. Someone has any advice on how to recalibrate battery PC Toshiba laptop, or verify that the problem is with the system and not the battery itself?

    Hi Richard,

Check in options power management Toshiba you have the right setting for your type of battery. In my opinion, there are different settings for long battery duration, high power batteries, etc..

If the problem persists, then I recommend re-installing the power management utility to make sure that it is not at fault, and if the problem persists, then there may be a problem with the power system of your laptop, in which case you will need to return to an authorized Service Agent Toshiba.

    Good luck

  • Priv of Smartphones BlackBerry blackBerry don't will not load. The battery with white exclamation point icon! point

Update: it was not after all water damage.  The day I splashed it I also sink it terribly low on battery.  Here's how I diagnosed and brought it back:

1 held the power and volume for 16 seconds until what the phone into bootloader mode.  Choose the first option to continue the initialization of the phone.

2 opportunity expert virtual Blackberry to test all functions of the phone.  Everything worked.

    3. went to settings-> battery.  0% battery does not charge.

    4 powered off phone

    5. "battery charged" the phone:

    1. connect to the most powerful USB charger that you have (for me, 3 amps)

    2. as soon as the battery with white exclamation point icon appears, unplug the phone

3 phone plug back in.  When the battery icon appears unplug.  Repeat 20 - 30 times

    6. Finally, the phone will start just showing the Red instead of the battery icon.  At this point, that the costs of phone for at least an hour.  The status indicator turns yellow

7 turn on the phone and load completely

I learned about the "battery charge" of the old Playbooks Blackberry.  Apparently, the voltage of the battery may get so low that the BIOS of the phone which will detect and not to load.  But during the 10 seconds or so to detect, the battery will be a slight amount of charge.  If you keep pushing a little fresh this way over and over, finally he could get enough power to be larger than the minimum voltage and start loading.

Good luck to everyone who has this problem.

My phone got damaged (by a very small amount of water, not overwhelmed), water and is now show white battery icon with exclamation point and do not start.  I would try replacing the battery to see if it is the problem or if the load circuit. (Yes, I know that this isn't * technique * replaceable by the user, but I have the backcover and can do).  BlackBerry support said they don't sell them and wants to $275 + to fix the device, which is almost the cost of a new private on Ebay. Someone know a provider or have a spare battery that I can buy?

    Thank you

Edition of the above to reflect the real problem.  The battery is just incredibly low.  Come to think of it, I'd run it for about 2 days and what I thought was caused water damage was just a super low battery. I "battery charge" it.  My discription full of how I did which is updated above in the first post.
