How to migrate to VMDK all store data in another data store

How would be migration of VMDK script all store data in another data store.

No, then you must use the Move-VM cmdlet. But this cmdlet moves all files to the destination data store.

The alternative is to use the method RelocateVM_Task , which allows more flexibility to define what that goes where.

It is a good example of your thread has called using several data stores, can not migrate the vmx in a data store file

  • How cold migration transfer VMDK file on which network indeed?

There is an explanation, that I got from this community is cold migration transfer on service console network, the specific "service console" connects the VI client.  But this explanation cannot explain this situation below.

    Virtual Center: 138.35.170.87 (gateway: 138.35.170.1)

    ESX1: 15.171.70.10 (gateway: 15.171.70.1)

    ESX2: 15.171.70.11 (gateway: 15.171.70.1)

ESX1 and ESX2 is under HA environment, linking SAN even with a disk of EVA storage array.

15 171,70. * can access 138.35.170 * between them freely by the window / door entry

15.171.70 * is the network isolation. They cannot access each other.

Migration cold can work well in the environment.

The vdisk to the virtual machine, we planned to migrate is dedicate to the logical unit number, and the target data store is dedicated lun as well.

Could you tell me how cold migration works?

Cold migration can be of different types:

1 Datastore1-> Datastore2, ESX remains the same: copy of files only.

2 Datastore1-> Datastore2, ESX1-> ESX2, and data warehouses are not shared: via the Service Console / VMkernel.

3 Datastore1-> Datastore2, ESX1-> ESX2, and data warehouses are shared: I guess than filecopy and re-enter on an another ESX VM.

  • How to migrate the environment for environmental data?

    We run Hyperion Planning 9.3.1.

    Hello

OK, so you are talking about accounts that did not come through the ODI.

In the version 9.3.1 your best way to migrate would be to migrate all of the planning/schema of database environments.
So, basically, export the schema/database in your dev environment and then restaurant on your schema/database test data.
This issue has been covered a lot in this forum, the latest being here > can I migrate 9.3.1 planning opposes 11.1.1.x Version?
(this is to upgrade to a different version, but the concept of migration between the same version is substantially the same)

  • How to migrate from vCenter as virtual machine to another host without vMotion running

We organize ESX 3.5 hosts. I've already updated our vCenter VM to 4.0U1. We have not the vMotion Installer yet (but are licensed for her). What is the appropriate way for migrating the vCenter VM to another host without vMotion, so I can upgrade the host the vCenter VM is running on? I have examined all the documents and messages, I could find, but don't have not seen this addressed.

You must turn off the virtual machine.

Copy the files (if are not on a shared data store).

Save the vmx file in the new ESX (with browser data store).

    Turn on the virtual machine.

    Oracle 10.1.2.0.0
I have 2 workspaces, a look like Dev env, another look like Pro. approx.
When the change need to be migrated, the few pages of Dev work space should be exemplary in Pro. one. I export the pages I want spend. dev, then try to import into Pro. but I get the error like below:
Page Origin: This page was exported from a different application or from an application in different workspace. Page cannot be installed in this application.
Is there a better way to solve? I don't want to copy the page one by one.

    Thank you and best regards.

    IMO = in my opinion.

And you do not have to remove the old application prior to importation revised Prod. Locate Application Alias. The URL given to users should be with Alias.
Once your revised application is imported and you're sure it's ok to release, just to change the Alias of the original into something unused, and apply the New Alias that users have (old application had).

    Kind regards

  • Different VM 1 with 3 vmdk in the data store: Migration of data to rename store

    Hello

I'm here today to ask for your help please.

In our Organization, we have 1 large VM

1 vmdk = > The BONES in lun, SAS performance

1 vmdka = > 1 Tera SATA MON only of DATA

Another 1 vmdka = > 1 Tera SATA MON only of DATA

This virtual machine is being tested and we need to rename it to the name of the production.

When you rename in vcenter you do a data store migration to correct all files with the new name.

In this case, how can we specify each VMDK to go to the data store specified during migration?

Because we could all think in the same data store due to the limitation of 2Tera by a data store

    Thanks for your help

When you "migrate" a virtual machine and choose 'Change Datastore' use the advanced option. This will allow you to specify multiple destinations of data store. Use the drop-down arrow in the current [location].

  • How to migrate to Windows 7 - the company - German to Win 7 Professional - English (keeping all my programs and data)

Original title: HOW TO: W7-company-German to W7-professional-Englisch (keeping all my programs and data)

    Hi all

I have installed W7-company-German. After having changed jobs & employer, I received a copy of W7-professional-English.

How can I install the new version AND keep my data, programs, configs?

The installation process indicates that an upgrade from English into German is not possible, I have to do a custom where installation all my data (and programs) will be lost. Of course, I have backups, but re - install all programs will take ages...

    Any help?

    Peter

Unfortunately, this option is not possible. You will need to do a custom install using your Windows 7 Professional CD and recover your data from the Windows.old folder:

Another option if you don't mind not continue working in German is the following:

Of course, you will need to use the German media Windows 7 Professional for this task:

  • ESX3.5U4/VC2.5 - move vmdk to adequate data store and extend the drive on the virtual machine

ESX3.5U4/VC2.5 - move vmdk to adequate data store and extend the drive on the virtual machine

Objective: move vmdk to store data with adequate storage and then increase storage D: 20G to 100G

Converter is not available on this architecture. Can I migrate cold vm to the different data store, no prob.

Question: Without use of the converter, method 3 can be used without a secondary vm? In other words, just by using target vm offline, online, offline? Or is it a problem of signing/OS disk on the Windows Virtual PC?

I need to move vmdk in different LUN and extend drive vm windows on D: (non-OS drive). Is this possible via the single procedure? Options?

To use method 3 to http://communities.vmware.com/thread/81121 requires available vm 'secondary', I did not.

Method 3? Using of vmkfstools and another VM of Windows to extend a drive

o stop the VM to resize

o log in the console ESX Server via Putty

o Type? vmkfstools? X & lt; new size of drive & gt; vmfs/volumes / & lt; storage volume name & gt;. / & lt; virtual server name & gt;. / & lt; the virtual disk name & gt;? That is to say. /vmfs/volumes/Storage1/my_vm.VMDK new disk size can be specified in kilo, mega, or gigabytes and will be the total size of the new disk. So if you want to increase a virtual disk of 20 GB of 24GO you would put 24000 m or 24g

o the second virtual machine to help stop

o change the second virtual machine settings and add the first virtual machine hard drive

o power on the second VM and load the disk management snap-in and verify that the first virtual machine disk has unallocated on it space

o select Start, run and enter diskpart.exe

o the command? the list of volume? This will show you all the volumes.

o select your volume based on the results of the list volume command, IE. ? Select volume 1?

o type the command? extend? to extend the volume

o check again the disk management snap-in and the volume is expected to be expanded with a greater ability

o stop the second VM and remove (do not remove) the record of it

o turn your first VM and the new space should be there and ready to use.

for VI3, vmoiton of storage is made by RCLI plugin or a 3rd party

    I prefer the plugin

    http://www.virtualizationadmin.com/articles-tutorials/VMware-ESX-articles/VMotion-DRS-high-availability/storage-VMotion-SVMotion-VI-plugin.html

In addition, if the option to increase the size of the disk in the VIC is grayed out, it sounds like a permissions issue.  Finally, you can not extend the disc using the VIC, if the customer in question has a snapshot.
