  I use Windows XP - perfectly up-to-date.  Whenever I have move photos from one folder to another file, the picture is no longer available and cannot be removed with using unlocker.  This has happened for several years.  I copy pictures and new folders whenever I want to move them, but sometimes I forget and move them and then I lose the picture I'm trying.  I also noticed that there is a strange file that opens in the trash that won't let me remove it without using unlocker. These files start with "Dd" followed be a number.  When I delete these use unlocker, another will appear the a different number on this subject.  It is a very maddening problem.  It is not possible for me to do a system restore because it lasts for quite awhile.  Please help - I'm tired of losing pictures that I can't replace.  Thank you for your help.

  Maybe missing just the navigation pane and the function "auto expand" as in Win XP.

  Click on organize-> select "folder and search options" and got to the general tab. It could be two boxes "show all files" and "automatic indicator of current folder" (or the same name - is not Win 7 us). Just check the two options.   Click the source, use the command + C to copy, select the destination, and then command + V to paste. However if you back up your computer using Time Machine you probably already have at least 1 backup. It's a good idea to have redundant backups, but you can use the copy and paste the solution in addition to using Time Machine.

  Just rename the file in Lightroom BEFORE you try to move it!

  I just upgraded to Lightroom 6. I lost the ability to drag and drop the images in different folders in Lightroom. I click on the photo, move it to the folder (a white + sign in a green circle appears), but there is no movement and I can not drag and drop them to the folders on the left side of Lightroom.

  I've seen this question before but no solution has been offered outside of "make sure you are clicking on the image and not the surrounding area." I have done this, restarted Lightroom, restarted my computer, uninstalled and reinstalled Lightroom and spent a lot of time in searching the Internet to solve the problem without success.

  I can create folders in Lightroom, but also these folders cannot be moved. I can only remove them.

  I will continue to look for a solution, but this prevents my workflow so much that I don't think I can work with Lightroom.
