How to move the OE 6 .dbx files to Windows Live Mail

How can I recover the files with windows 7 ultimate .dbx?

Transfer of data from Outlook Express and Windows Live Mail:

For Messages:

Copy * ANY * OE message to a flash drive storage folder. (Folders.dbx should be included). Place it on the desktop or another location on the computer using WLMail. Open WLMail and: file | Import | Messages | Microsoft Outlook Express 6, and the point where it was saved.

Location of OE message store:

In OE: Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

For addresses:

Open the address book in OE and file | Export | Address book (wab) and save it to the desktop. Copy it to a flash drive. Place it on the desktop or another location on the computer using WLMail.

Open the Contacts list in WLMail, (go |) Contacts in the Menu bar) and the file | Import | Address book (wab) Windows and the point where you saved it.

Note: If you use a CD or a DVD instead of a flash drive, after placing on the new machine you must remove the read-only attribute in the properties before you import.

For the account settings:

In OE: Tools | Accounts, select the account and export it to the desktop. This will be an .iaf file. Copy it to the new computer and WLMail desktop: tools | Accounts and import the settings from the location you saved the.

How to change the extensions on several files with Windows 7?

You hear no doubt, is that your movie software will only recognize certain types of image file formats.  If this is the case, you will need to reformat format files to any format PNG is recognizable by the software.

Rather than we guess, please identify your «film» software

Download and install IrfanView, which is a free utility for images.  http://www.IrfanView.com/

IrfanView has the ability to read a great many formats of image files.  It can also convert image files formats.  And even better - for you - it can do all these things on a batch of files.

As test, after I installed IrfanView, open one of your PNG files.  Now click on file > save as, and select the 'Save as Type' to be little matter the file type of your movie software will accept.  Save the file.  Make sure your movie software can accept the new file.

Once you are convinced that you can modify files that you have in a format that you can use, use IrfanView

File > Batch Conversion/Rename command.  If necessary, see IrfanView help on this topic.

Looks like you've cut the Ribbon.

Open WLMail, along the upper left corner, you have some icons if you move the pointer over it, generally: new ' 'response', 'update all' 'customize the Quick Access toolbar. Click on 'Customize Quick Access toolbar' and at the bottom of the list, uncheck the box "cut the Ribbon".

Hopefully that should get it back.

  • during the transition from Outlook Express to Windows Live Mail, is the address book data stored and also the info in files

I'm afraid that if I upgrade the form Outlook Express to Windows Live Mail, I will lose all e-mail addresses in my address book current as well as the information contained in the files - models etc.

If you install WLMail on your XP machine, it has to import messages and addresses automatically and nothing will be lost of OE.

If you like WLMail better than OE, you are a person better than I am.

For specific questions from WLMail, ask here.

PS It has nothing to do with Hotmail. I don't know where Christophe that came out of your post.

  • files from Windows live mail

I use Windows 7 and Windows Live Mail - recently I seem to tom lost the folder "all emails.  I made a new folder with that title, but emails are not automatically put in it that I found very useful to find emails that I could not trace in the main files.

    Geoff Richards

I think that we have already explained that WLM does not automatically create a folder of "all emails.  It must have been created by a user.  You can create an and I think that we have already explained how.

It is possible that you have inadvertently moved this file inside another.  Investigate each case.  Looking for a small arrow to the left of the folder name.  If this arrow is there, this means that there is a file in this folder.  In fact, they can make their nest at several levels.

  • cannot get rid of the notice of no messages in Windows Live Mail

Recently, when I leave Windows Live Mail, the box ' you sent messages - you want to send then now "appears every time when I know that there are no unsent messages.  I think it started when I tried to send an e-mail response to a person who answered an ad, I had placed and he refused because he was a spammer or such a message.  The e-mail never appeared in my Outbox and does not appear in my files.  How can I get rid of this message?

Unsent messages is in your folder, for obvious reasons. They are in your Outbox waiting to be sent in. The Outbox is below account files in the folders pane. You will probably need to work offline before you can delete any message will avoid in there.

Windows Live Mail has its own support at the Windows Live Solution Centerforums. Please address any other question you may have on one of the forums on the right side of this page. You are probably asked to give your version of WLMail and Windows so that the answer may be more accurate. In WLMail to find your version of the software, a press on ALT - H. If it doesn't show you the version and the build number, press onescape to two times, and then Alt - F B.

  • Cannot open PDF files in Windows Live Mail.

I recently got a new computer running Windows 7.  I have Windows Live Mail and have tried to open the 'pdf' files attached to e-mails.  When I try to open them I get an error message.  I downloaded the file in the file management section for Adobe and Adobe.  How to open a PDF file without first having to save it on my computer?

HURT SO BAD!  I had the same problem - I tried the security options in Internet Explorer and Adobe, also the download of unassociate.exe that was put in place for users of Vista and used on the extension pdf without result.  IF YOU USE IT ON THE PDF AND PDFXML extensions, then open Adobe reader and click Help, repair drive installation it works!

Obviously, you cannot run your life by saving just to open attachments... Adobe has no answers on their site and find the file unassoc.exe on this Microsoft forum was the closest, I arrived to find an answer. When I tried the process a second time, I saw the PDFXML extension just below the PDF extension and took a shot at it.

Someone at Microsoft needs this fix to make accessible to all the users of Windows 7. I spent 3 hours on the phone with HP support, he tried the unassoc.exe and it did not work for him. I contact them to let them know about this - they put me on the phone with a Manager and he told me they had literally hundreds of phone calls about this.

  • How to automatically clear all records deleted out of Windows Live Mail 2012

I recently had 10 deleted Windows (it was causing all kinds of mischief) and have a lot of trouble with the store because they did not reinstall many of my files. I have since recovered all but a problem of e-mail. Until after all this, I had put my email to automatically empty all files deleted at the exit. Try as I might, I can't seem to find where I can enable this feature in Windows Live Mail 2012. Thanks in advance for any help with this.
