How to move to Windows 7 64 bit?

When I started my laptop I chose 64-bit, but when it came to the big red warning I clicked Cancel. The next time I start the laptop it asks for my username and password so I did that and then I checked and now is 32-bit.

Is there a way to change to 64-bit, and if I do I lose anything?

Hi mate,

I m a bit confused to now what laptop you have exactly?
And what red warning you mean?

Normally, some Toshiba laptops come with 64 bit and 32 bit OS. This means that if you reinstall Windows using the Toshiba Recovery disk, you can get back to the 64 bit OS.

How to move to windows 10?

    Greetings,

    Go hereto start the process.

Not all updates smoothly. Back up your data and make sure that you have a way to return to the system of operating of the plant (from the HP recovery discs) or a good system image on external media, including a CD/DVD or USB boot drive well known.  This bootable media, you will have to Win recovery environment so you can reimage your HARD drive using the external image.

You will need all of these responses to recover from a bad installation of Win 10.

I suggest you use a second clean HDD / SSD to install Win 10. This will save you a lot of grief if the Win 10 install fails. You always Win 8.1 Installing original on the original HDD or SSD.

  • Someone knows how to upgrade to Windows 7 64 bit to dm3?

    Hi all

Recently, I bought my computer laptop pavilion dm3-1028tx (sp9300, 4 GB ddr3). Unfortunely only it comes with oem windows 7 Home premium 32-bit instead of windows 7 64-bit.

Due to the characteristic of 32 bits, its only 3 GB of ram could be used.

IM plan to upgrade my windows 7 Home premium 32-bit to 64-bit windows 7 home premiun.

I tried to contact microsoft in my country, they said I should ask to HP, if I could spend my windows because its OEM.

Someone knows how to upgrade my windows 7 32 bit to windows 7 64 bit without having to buy a new one? Please help me I do not know.

    Thanks a lot guys

Unfortunately, you will need to buy the 64-bit version, unless you can get HP to you give 64-bit free citing inability to use all of the memory as a customer support/advocacy.   But you should check on HP website to see if your model was first 64-bit drivers.

He will have to do a new installation as well.  And if HP is not actively support 64-bit for your model, you will lose the HP software (most consider bloatware anyway).  You will also lose built in recovery option.  So, at least, make sure you create your restore disks.

You may be able to wash to recover the partition, but I don't know how you would be able to use it without recovery software that HP has loaded.

    Hello

Looks like you didn t includes the upgrade works.

You can t do a upgrade of each version. For example, you can upgrade a 32-bit version of Windows to a 64-bit version, or upgrade from a higher edition of Windows to a lower edition.

Which means that you can only upgrade to 32-bit Windows 7. For Windows 7 64-bit, you must make the new facility.

  • How to upgrade to Windows 7 64 bit

Windows 7 Professional 32 bit DVD I bought at a retail store. But now I want to upgrade to Windows 7 64 bit. Can someone tell me what what should I do? I know I have a new installation of my formatting system drive. But my question is should I buy again Windows 7 64 bit DVD separately or download Windows 7 64 bit online and can use 32-bit series that I have to activate?

You can use the same product key that allows you to enable the 32-bit version.

You will need to do a clean install, there is no place on the way to upgrade Windows 7 32 bit to 64 bit.

Using the disk of 64-bit Windows 7, install Windows 7 Windows Easy Transfer Utility from the DVD (to find it, simply navigate to x:\support\migwiz, "x:" is the name of your hard drive. (In this case, you will see a collection of files, the important"that you must search for and double-click is 'migsetup'.) run it and create a DAMP (Windows Easy Transfer file), if you have an external hard drive, you can access it later when you perform a clean install of Windows 7 64-bit disk so you can stored there.

Once you have done this, just do a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit disc. In Windows 7 64 bit disk, start Windows Easy Transfer, follow the wizard screen, tap on which is stored the WET file (external hard drive) and it will restore your personal files and settings. Reinstall the applications needed.

    http://www.notebooks.com/2009/10/07/using-Windows-easy-transfer-in-Windows-7/

Boot from the DVD 64 bit Windows 7
    Click Install now
    Accept the license agreement
When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)

Select the disk partition where you want to install Windows 7 click Next.

You will receive the following warning:

The partition you have selected may contain files from a previous Installation of Windows. If so, these files and folders will be moved to a folder named Windows.old. You will be able to access the information in Windows.old, but you will be able to use your previous version of Windows.

(At all costs, do NOT click on anything in Format, deletion or Partition name.) So even do a custom installation, your personal files are still kept. Click OK

The installation program will now begin installation. During installation, your computer will be restarted several times.

Once the installation is complete, you can complete the Out of Box experience as the choice of your laptop, create a username, password, your time zone. You can then proceed to download the latest updates for Windows and reinstall your applications and drivers.

You can then retrieve your personal files from the Windows.old folder and reinstall all of your applications and drivers.

  • How to upgrade to windows 7 64 bit, when I have Windows XP 32-bit by using the version "upgrade windows 7."

I had been using windows XP 32 bit before decide me get windows 7. I have read around and thought you could buy the "version upgrade of windows 7" and go for 32-bit windows xp to windows 7 64 bit. Unfortunately, when I got home to do a clean installation of windows 7, I received an error message when I put in the 64-bit and says that the disc is not compatible with my current windows. I called Mircrosoft and they told me that with the version of windows upgrade 7 "" you can't go from 32 to 64-bit, that I would need to get the full version of this one for $200 here in the Canada. Unfortunately, at this time, I have the product installed and running. I'm a bit disappointed in this light my 6 GB of ram go lose and not to mention my $120 I spent. So I wanted to know are another that blow $200 for full windows 7 and lose my $120 on the updated version, is there another method to get the 64-bit? Because at this point, I am at a total loss.

You can go from 32-bit XP to Windows 7 64 bit by doing a custom (clean) install with an upgrade version disk.  You don't need to buy a full version disc.  But you can't start from the upgrade disk.

I don't know what you have installed now.  If XP is installed, turn on the computer, insert the DVD upgrade after start XP and follow the prompts.  This method might also work if 32-bit Windows 7 is installed.  If not, maybe to re - install XP to start the upgrade.

  • How to move from Windows XP to Windows 7?

    WINDOWS

I need to upgrade Windows XP to Windows 7.   How can I do this?

Please give instructions on how to do it.

Step by step instructions in the following article:

    http://www.notebooks.com/2009/10/13/WinXP-to-Win7/

    The upgrade to Windows XP?

Please read these instructions carefully and completely before you begin installing Windows 7: there are important steps that you must follow to upgrade your PC from Windows XP to Windows 7 in order to preserve your files and settings.

Before you begin, you'll need to backup all your data to an external storage device, and you will need all the installation discs for the programs that you want to keep. Please make sure that you have an external hard drive (see details below).

More detailed instructions are available at windows.microsoft.com/upgrade-windows-xp. Here are the basic steps.

    1. start Windows Upgrade Advisor (windows.microsoft.com/upgradeadvisor) to see if there are known issues that may affect the installation and the question of whether you should install the version of 32 or 64 bit Windows 7.

2 back up your files and settings on an external hard drive using Windows Easy Transfer (windows.microsoft.com/windows-easy-transfer). If you do not have an external hard drive, you will not be able to use Windows Easy Transfer. Alternatively, you can copy the files you want to keep on a USB stick, CD or DVD.

    3. you will need to manually reinstall your programs, such as Microsoft Office, after I installed Windows 7. Gather the installation for your programs and all partner/license product key discs. You may be able to download programs from the Internet. For example, Windows Live Messenger can be installed from the download.live.com/messenger.

    4. Insert the Windows 7 DVD in your PC. When asked "which type of installation you want. Click on "Custom (advanced)."

    5. when Windows 7 is installed, use Windows Easy Transfer to restore your files and settings.

If you are not comfortable Windows 7 installation, check with a local retail or the services of the PC company store to see if they offer upgrade services.
