  Hello. Thanks for all the posts on this topic. I have the same problem, as described by the op. But, while I use Avast, I have NOT the add-on from Astromenda which has been mentioned. However, I have the SB installed toolbar, and it has been recently updated, 29/12. I suspect that it is the culprit, if this problem is in fact not caused by an update of Firefox (my tiles have recently been reset on new tabs, and I suspect that Firefox for this problem).

  I am ready to remove the toolbar from the SB, but prefer to keep it (Yes, I admit I'm stupid) If this annoying 'new window = 2 tabs with 'new tab' at the top' would just leave.

  Apart from the removal of the toolbar SB... does anyone have suggestions? I don't see that all recently added add-ons/extensions that I don't recognize, apart from the update of the toolbar of SB.

  Updated: 5 minutes after this announcement, I disabled the toolbar of SB and restarted Firefox. No change.

  To open the window to customize the toolbar, do one of the following:

  • Firefox button > Options > toolbars
  • Press ALT or F10 to temporarily show the Menu bar and choose from there (view > toolbars > customize)
  • Hold DOWN the ALT key while pressing the VTC keyboard letters

  Regarding the new button tab, you see the end a '+' after the last tab or the right of the tab bar? This is the icon of the new tab.

  • CTRL + T will open a new tab

  Other posters have a difficult time distinguishing tabs and Windows, it seems. With a lot of posters here the two terms are used incorrectly and indifferently, as is the desktop and the window of Firefox, but my understanding is that a lot of this "bad language" is taught in schools.

  However, I tried your suggestion and, guess what, IT WORKED!

  I am so happy.  Thanks for your help. Something so simple but if you don't know what to try then it can be so frustrating.

  Incidentally (and this is not a complaint) by clicking on desktop icons now open full-screen windows, which suits me very well, but when I hit the screen button "reduced" on a window then all windows to open in reduced format, but ALL are EVEN smaller.  I'll play a little more but thanks again. You have made my day.

  I can only speak of sketch but it starts with a 'Open Document' dialog box so you can choose which files you want to open or you can click on the 'New Document' button. It does not open a Finder window. You will need to talk to the developers of sketches, if it bothers you.

  Make sure that D:\myfolder\ is defined in the FORMS_PATH environment variable. FORMS_PATH is defined in the default.env(ORACLE_HOME/forms/server register) or windows. If it is set in the two default.env is a priority.

They are able to get to the login, but when screen connect achieving (or go) they get an error: "cannot open a new browser window. Make sure that you don't have a pop - up disabled for this site".
  
  Of course the first thing I had to do was disable popups blocker all together. But they still have the error (even when they restart their PC).   Check if you have a toolbar (like Yahoo, Google toolbar)
  These toolbars have their own Blocker for pop-up windows.
  You must disable the pop-up blocker also with the blocker IE.
