  WMP can actually read using a such as K-lite codec pack. Cannot therefore VLC (Google) to be honest is your best bet.

This 'site' will not be online and is intended to be run entirely locally on the hard drive of the screen so I can't link to the video URL off-site. I use Muse because my coding knowledge is very, very basic. I inserted an HTML object and added a video code and tried to direct to my video file (using the full file address).

  "Try: it's play" from the Appstore. In my case, it works. VLC Player is not available for iOS 8. VLC Streamer is a different application.
