  Sorry, Lee, but the draw very good copy filters. And thankfully so - what happens if the clip in question is not a parent - that is to say, it's parent is the stage... that wouldn't work at all then.

  I'm not sure of the problem of the OP, but draw copies certainly filters and transparency without problem.

  I remember an old program as fractal painter used to have filters like this.  I don't think that Fractal painter even exist anymore.  Anyone know what I have done to get this effect, or how I can watch the image data to understand what I used filters?

  I use AS2 and I try to figure out how to make an effect of deployment using buttons and leads nowhere. You would think this would be easy!

  I have a movieclip in the section "over" my button, which contains a roll above and a deployment to the animation. My problem is that I can't get flash to play the animation of deployment.

  I put the following code in the button itself

  Does anyone have any suggestions? I tried setting up a function to find when the user released the button, but that didn't work either. Any help would be much appreciated.

  Code inside a button does not work.  The code show you must be attached to the button, but a button only has the properties that Flash defines for that (in contrast to the movieclips allowing to set all the properties that you want).  If you would be unable to target a movieclip within a button symbol as the button has no such property.

  The buttons are auto animation of objects.   There is no code to run animations of flipping/deployment.  But a button does not have a deployment framework, just the top image.  So, you would need to have your animation of deployment be in the high setting, where he moved to be the button as you can see without interacting with him.

  What you might try instead to use a button is to use a movieclip as a button, then you can control which image it is as you wisdh so that order things that it works.
