How to reduce consumption of Essbase log file disk space?

Due to some problems, we must keep the Essbase application at the INFO level log to trace a special message. However, we can not control the size of the log file and the use of these log files from the disk.

We found that there is some configuration settings that can control the maximum file size of each log file:

AGTMAXLOGFILESIZE
APPMAXLOGFILESIZE

However we can not yet found a good setting that may limit the maximum use of disc, or the mechanism of rotation of newspapers to recycle the log file or we will say that we must keep the 5GB log file in the log 5 and recycle when the log file is full.

As Glen has rightly pointed out, you can create a routine that runs according to a schedule.

In the past, I wrote apps/scripts that check the size of the logs for each application, if it exceeds the set limit, copy of newspaper, zips the newspaper, then removes the log (essbase command, not just a delete because there is a lock on the file)

This routine can be written in several languages.

See you soon

  • How to reduce the size of the file

I am trying to efax a file and it says the file is too large.  is there a way to reduce the size of the file?

Depending on the type of file, it may be possible to compress but I don't know if it will work with an efax (but I guess it's worth a try).  Here's how: http://maximumpcguides.com/windows-vista/compress-and-uncompress-a-folder-or-file-in-windows-vista/.

Another option also according to the type of file is to convert the file to a different file type which takes less space (such as the conversion of a TIFF file in a JPG file).  It isn't exactly the same thing (the image quality is not quite as good, but rarely can anyone tell the difference.

Another option is to split the file into several separate files that are small enough to work and send them separately and ask the recipient to back move or treat the separate transmissions if it's just a matter of sending a few pages at a time instead of all of them at once.

These are really the only ways to resolve the problem (other than to find another e-fax provider that accepts larger files).

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • How to get the JOINT-2 log file

Hi, we installed in the 6500 system JOINT-2 cat. Anyone know how to get the syslog JOINT-2 file? and how config to send the log to syslog server? I know that these two questions are quite simple, but I've yet to find answers.

You can get the JOINT events to the CETS format. Using the Manager of IPS or other tool to collect these logs.

  • How to reduce the size of the file to an existing PDF?

    Hello

Any kind soul suggest a solution for this? Or is it not possible to do?

I have a PDF - 7 MB file, is provided by a third party (so I can't get another copy or the content has been created between), I would like to add to a site, and 7MB is just too.

It is 19 pages, can anyone tell me if it is possible to reduce the size of the file to something more reasonable?

I tried to optimize and she went from 7.92 MB to 7.90 MB wow!

    Thanks to the McP Adv.

A lot depends on how it is done. Here are some options: (remember to work on a copy)

    1. save money, not save

2 Save as > optimize PDF (you can optimize sample image and other. (There is also a function of audit (here I think for AAX) which gives you an idea where is indigestion)

    3. Save as > reduce the size of the file

    4. printing to a new PDF with appropriate work settings (not recommended normally and will delete the links and others)

  • How to reduce the size of a file Adobe Edge animate?

I'm trying to get the zipped file size up to 150 kb or less, and the closest I can get is 439 kb. I tried the following until now:

    • delete unnecessary files before publishing
    • toggled active .png for lower quality .jpg assets where I can
    • published using the "Host on Adobe CDN runtime files" - I read that it can reduce the size of the file of 80%

I'm pretty new to the software, and there is certainly a chance that I do not have something good. You can view the file here if you are interested in taking a look. If anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate your insight!

    Thank you

    Cassie

Yes, I did! First of all that I have lived and made sure I had my images at the smallest possible file size. Then, after the publication in the destination folder, I went in the 'images' folder and deleted the file "thumbs.db" Edge is automatically created. Makes a HUGE difference in the size of the file! Hope that works for you too!

  • How to reduce the size of the file when editing in Photoshop - then back to Lightroom

Sometimes I like to edit photos from Lightroom in Photoshop then re - record return to Lightroom, my pictures are of the Nikon Nef raw and they come usually in about 24 MB and it's ok. The problem is when I change in LR to PS - Photoshop transforms the image into a Tiff file and I have some pictures to nearly 400 MB being imported to LR, I merge layers, and flatten the image etc then go to file and then save and I can't reduce them. Y at - it an easy way to convert the final image to a Tiff NEF file with just a click of mouse, thank you very much I'm new on this and find nice software to use all the ideas please.

Another thing to consider is that you can change your Lightroom preferences to save TIF 8-bit images. This would significantly reduce the size of these files.

  • How to reduce the size of the virtual disks on Fusion 3.1.2 my W7 64 bit

A few months ago, I created a DVD install a virtual machine in Windows 7 64-bit 120 GB. I never checked the disk space until a couple of weeks and now I have two hard files over 160GB with a .vmwarevm. I have never created all the files component snap so I am confused how it happened and how to fix this?  After all, a MacBook Pro's as much disk space

OK it looks like the Virtual Machine on which you have is "/ users/dbaps/Virtual Machines.localized/Springer31.vmwarevm" and it is only using the Springer31.vmdk virtual hard disk that is in the Document Virtual Machine Package, so I can't tell you where both .vhd files of ~ 165GB come so you'll have to deal with this on your own.  You have Parallels installed at a certain time or do you have them created with Windows 7?

If you have VMware Tools installed and no snapshots you can use VMware Tools in the OS invited to shrink the virtual hard drive and it should reduce the size of that Windows Explorer shows how much is used.

Also, you have assigned 4 CPU cores of the Virtual Machine and over the commitment of the processor cores will slow things down so I would attribute no more then two and that you set for 1/2 of RAM to the Virtual Machine host and this of course uses more then what you have assigned, some for the purpose of merger of VMware and some video RAM so you use really ~4.4GB of RAM just for VMware Fusion and the Virtual Machine.

  • How to reduce the size of the virtual disk

Is it possible to reduce the size of the virtual disk to a virtual machine.  If so, how?  We tried the shrink option in the VMware tools running on the virtual (Win2003) computer, but it didn't reduce the size of the unit at all.

VMware Converter is probably the best option for fret.

  • How can I get the amount of free disk space using the space using windows 7 Please share example using GetDiskSpace

How can I get the amount of disk space by using windows 7 Please share example using GetDiskSpace I already studied http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/9958B8E473C4EF1786256BBC0053B64F

Reading your question a little more in detail, I doubt if you are using the Win32 GetDiskFreeSpace API function (including my previous post is the solution) of the function GetDiskSpace from the Toolbox of the programmer.

With respect to the other, it works even with capacity greater than 2 GB disks, but you must use the appropriate formatting code to display the returned value. I updated my example to display the total of free space in the debug output window and added a comparison with the value of 3 GB using UInt64TypeCompareUInt box to tools programming interface.

  • combine files - how to reduce the size of the file?

I have successfully combined nine pdf docs in one, but end up with a large 20 MB document.  How can I reduce this so that it can be an attachment?

I have the Pack PDF Adobe

    Hi charlesb219,

You have several options. If you have Acrobat, you can save as PDF of reduced size or optimized PDF. (Feel free to try Acrobat for 30 days, if you don't have it.)

You can use Adobe send to send the file (with an account free, you can send a link to the file, and your recipient can download the PDF from this link).

Or, you can use a utility to check-in on your computer to compress the file (if you are not able to compress, just send an email like that).

  • Captivate 3 - everyone figured out how to reduce to a CP project file size?

    Greetings,

I think that this question has been asked before, but I was unable to find a solution to the problem and I was wondering if someone else (a solution).

Some people called this phenomena "file bloat".

I'm using Captivate 3. In the process of adding and deleting slides the .cp file gets quite large. I tried to do the thing of "save under...". ». I also tried the unused resources removal (graphics, backgrounds, etc) and save the file again. Nothing seems to work.

I tried to import a project into an empty project (the application seems to work, but nothing happens). I tried export in XML format and the file will not import (corrupted).

If someone managed to find an answer on how to remove unused slides/resources of a Captivate project "inflated". Apart from rebuild the project file from scratch is there a solution?

    Thank you

    TPK

    Hello

The only way I've ever seen a reduction in file size Captivate 3 was by performing the following steps:

    1. Open a second instance of Captivate.
    2. Create a new empty project of same size as the other instance.
    3. Switching between instances, copy slides of the bloated and paste into the fresh.
    4. Save a new and the file size is reduced.
    5. Throw away the old one.

Note that you will probably need to restore links that you had.

Just a note special here on one of the things that you have tried. You said that you exported in XML format. I don't think that you can export as XML and then import XML into a new project. I think that the XML export works very similarly to the export of Microsoft Word. Only the exported project he will be able to properly re - import. If I understand correctly, the XML export is designed to Captivate developers who need to locate (translate) their projects.
