How to remove Babylon as my default search engine?

I removed from the control panel/programs/uninstall. It does not appear on Firefox-tools/add-ons/extensions or plugins. Yet, every time I click on 'new tab' is the default search engine. I also removed a cookie called Babylon. Still apears.

Hello rayfriesen, first of all please make sure you have uninstalled all components of Babylon in the control panel (it also runs under the name ("browser Manager', 'Bprotector', 'Object Installer'). You can then either install the searchreset addon to get rid of the problem, or manually reset the page that opens on each new tab.

enter Subject: config in the address bar of firefox (confirmed the message information where it appears), search for the preference named browser.newtab.url and right click and change the default (subject: newtab).

  • Remove all of the default search engine but google for all users?

I work for a school district that uses web filtering out both in network. We were running through a situation where our students are able to move from Google to Yahoo search engines to see inappropriate material. We have worked with our provider of web filtering outside to prevent that from happening, but so far no resolution of the problem. As I'm about to about 600 computers images for fall next, staff, admins, and especially Parents (I'm sure) would be as is not the case.

My question is this. Is it possible to change search preferences in the application Firefox so that all students can use to search is Google? I can do the application itself, or is this another case where the settings are all stored in the profile users?

    Thank you

Look in user.js creation and the lock settings, so the local user cannot change it.

  • How can I choose the default search engine in the address window?

You explain how to change the 'address bar' default search engine at the top right. I want to know how to change the search engine in the address at the top window to the left. Currently, if I type in an address not recognized, my ISP search engine will appear. I'd rather have the search engine of Google or Bing when I make a mistake of addressing.

You can have an ISP that automatically redirects you to a search page if a DNS search fails.

Who takes control of Firefox to search with the normal keyword like a Google, I'm lucky search.

In this case, you will need to contact your ISP and ask for a DNS to opt-out of this feature.

You can also check if there is a link on the search results page to go to your ISP and opt-out.

My OS is Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. using Firefox worm 15.0. I downloaded the toolbar of Babylon and related applications because they were associated with a manual of the tool I wanted to see again. Then I discovered how invasive these apps are. Successfully deleted downloader of Babylon and the toolbar via start | Control Panel | the program menu. However, I notice that "Search the web (Babylon)" is still listed in the drop down options of search engine. I missed my Google search and I can remove the option of Babylon, but returns every time when I close my browser and then return to my home page of Mozilla FF. Babylon solved: I spent large parts of the last 4 days with the problem of Babylon, choked because I had no address bar and menu display. The solution to these problems also removed the bar Babylon.

  • How can I change the default search engine in the address bar?

Beta toolbar AVG changed the search engine used when I type in the address bar of Yahoo search. I uninstalled AVG completely toolbar beta, but I can't seem to find out how to change the search back to Google search engine.

Skip this step if you also have a Yahoo toolbar
    Remove the Yahoo toolbar

    1. 'Ctrl + Shift + A' (add-on Manager)
    2. Select the piece of the Puzzle on the left side for list Extensions
    3. Find "Yahoo Toolbar" and click the "Uninstall" button and restart Firefox. (if you really need to keep the Yahoo toolbar, you can hide the toolbar instead with personal and always not to change all default search settings below)

Then to set the default search engine used in the address bar, change the value of the keyword. URL in Subject: config to one of the values in the search of the address bar with MozillaZine.

    1. type about: config in the location (in a new tab) toolbar
    2. If the nonsense of warning message appears uncheck the box before dismiss the dialog box message
    3. filter by keyword
    4. Right click on the key word . URL and choose 'Edit' then paste in the string of search engine Google of your choice.
    5. filter on defaulturl
    6. Right-click on browser.search.defaulturl (if it exists)and again choose "Edit" and then paste in the string of search engine Google of your choice.
    7. filter on ytff
    8. Right-click on yahoo.ytff.search.popup_src (if it exists) and again once choose 'Edit' then paste in the string of search engine Google of your choice, so adventurous maybe see if 'reset' would delete and see if went into the session next (at least not for those keeping the extension).

Avoid problems: Several software installations contain additional baggage called crapware. The Yahoo toolbar is packed with Java photo

  • My default search engine has been on anything other than Google. How to switch this back?

Somehow my default search engine has been changed to Google to what is called "My Web Search". I want to switch to Google, but I can't figure out how. I disabled the plugin and removed my options of search engine in the top right, but nothing has changed.

You have My Web Search installed; Look under Tools > Modules > Plugins. He could have grafted in on something that you have installed. Always seek and opt-out when installing other programs and Add-ons that you install from sites other than the site of Mozilla Add-ons. My search on the Web is considered malware/adware/spyware by many. You must remove it.

Step 1. You can check if you have one of these installed ' Fun Web products ' :
Control Panel > add or remove programs: Ask.com Bar, my search bar, of the MyWay Bar speed, my search on the Web Bar, Fun Web products Easy Installer
    See:

    http://support.Mozilla.com/en-us/KB/troubleshooting+plugins#Manually_uninstalling_a_plugin

Step 2 You may need to change a preference to reset your default URL/location bar search engine:
-Enter Subject: config in the URL/address bar and press the Enter key
-If you see a cautionary, accept it (promise you'll be careful)
    -Filter = keyword.url
-Under the filter, right-click on the keyword. URL and choose "Reset".
-Restart Firefox (file > restart Firefox)
    See: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Keyword.url

Step 3 You may need to reset your homepage. Firefox can open multiple home pages. Home pages are separated by the ' | ' symbol.

  • 36 Firefox: How can I KEEP my choice of default search engine and Yahoo Search?

Firefox 36 insists now that I use Yahoo search constantly changing my default search engine choice. No matter now many times I put it for Google, I'll get something Yahoo and it's once again. I have Yahoo not checked in the search preferences, hoping that it will not be displayed again. Have restarted Firefox several times. No luck.

My last resort is to REMOVE Yahoo Search my list of search engines to prevent that from happening? I MIGHT want to use some time later, but not every day.

ALSO. If it's important, when I filled this question with 'installed plugins' information on my Mac and Firefox, a witness appeared, so I went to tools > Modules. This screen appeared for a second and instantly has far to another screen: DNS Yahoo Error Handler who had "garmin communicator plugin icon developer" entered in the search query box. My web experience is now taken by Yahoo?

Hmm, it sounds like you have some kind of hijacker in your Firefox. Try this:

Disable all non-essential or unrecognized extensions on page modules. Either:

    • Command + shift + a
    • Tools menu > Modules

In the left column, click Extensions. Then, when in doubt, turn off. (Or if it is obviously the badware, delete).

If Firefox is redirected at this point, see the next section.

Typically, a link will appear above at least an extension disabled to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links in the last step.

    Who help me?

If Firefox is unable to use the addons page, you may need to block extensions using the Mode without failure of Firefox. It is a standard diagnostic tool to disable some advanced features of Firefox and extensions. More info: questions to troubleshoot Firefox in Safe Mode.

You can restart Firefox in Mode safe mode using either:

    • button "3-bar" menu > "?" button > restart with disabled modules
    • Help menu > restart with disabled modules

(Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still works)

After stops in Firefox, a small dialog box should appear. Click on 'Start mode safe' (not reset).

    Can remove you it?

  • How to change Mozilla.cfg to set google as default search engine

Need help with our setting mozilla.cfg file to change the default to yahoo search engine to google.
Browser.search.defaultenginename in comments: config already has the default value of 'google', so doesn't justing adding this line of modzilla.cfg - ' pref ("browser.search.defaultenginename", "google", as its currently by default.)

I noticed that if I manually change the search provider (thru the interface), then this value changes from 'default' to 'user set', which retains google as the default search engine. So how do I either set this value as 'user set' within mozilla.cfg, or use some alternative?

You can restore the change in Google Yahoo search engine in the Firefox 34.0.5 by enabling / disabling browser.search.isUS to false.
Note that only 34.0.5 replaces the default search by Yahoo! engine.

    //
    lockPref("browser.search.isUS", false);
