  • Windows 2003 domain controller

    Hi Expert,

Since a few days my business met the internet problem. All the PC and server connected to the DC not able to go online. After a few minute 15-20 minute network is automatically recovered and able to go online. I checked with ISP they confirmed no question about they site. Our main installed dns on the PDC as well. Can one confirmed no matter what happens on the domain controller may cause the network problem in devices that connected to the domain controller?

This issue is beyond the scope of this site (for consumers) and to be sure, you get the best (and fastest) reply, we have to ask either on Technet (for IT Pro) or MSDN (for developers)

I have problems to find any information about it. I do a 10 minute presentation on the following scenario. Can anyone help or point me in the right direction
    • You have a Windows 2003 domain conisting of: -.

      1 x Windows Server 2003 AD

      1 x Exchange Windows 2003 Server

1 x Windows 2003 file server and print

1 x Aplicatiom in Windows 2003 Server (SQL, case)

25 x Windows XP desktop computers / laptops

You intend to upgrade/migrate to a 2008 domain. Need to consider the following:--

      Why update?

      What's new?

What order/priority should take the upgrades?

What are the best practices in rank?

What are the problems that I am likely to encounter? Ried to solve the problem

  • Windows Server 2012 - create the existing Windows Server 2003 domain controller.

    Hello.

I am currently working on adding a domain controller Windows Server 2012 and field existing Windows 2003.  My current domain controller (Server 2003) had a level of functiontional of Windows 2000 server, when I first tried to add the server DC 2012.  I changed the functional level of the domain on the Server 2003 Windows 2003 (it is the only domain controller in the tree).  When I try to add the Server Server 2012, he reports that this domain is a Windows 2000 domain.  I checked and restarted the 2003 server.  Does anyone know why the 2012 still sees the field as 2000 functional level?

    Thank you

  • How to migrate from windows 2003 to windows 2008 with all the work of GPO active directory, DNS, without problem?

    Hello...

I have a problem with windows 2003 to windows 2008 migration. I have try several round of flyway of google and youtube, but he is still fail.
    in the first,.
I have HP Proliant server with windows server 2003. So I restore the backup to a different server HP Proliant wih same hardware specification. I've been back up the System State and the drive C with NTBackup. After I restored on HP Proliant, that I want to migrate, the DNS server is timeout request and the client cannot join domain. I was surprised, because the backup and the material is the same, but it can work as well as the original server.
    in the second case,
I have windows server 2003 in HP Proliant server and it works well. I'm doing a replication on this server to another windows 2003 server in an another HP Proliant and works of good replication (another user can join the domain). After, I have installed windows server 2008 to another PC and make the replication of the duplication of windows 2003. And this success to replicate, but not on the DNS (DNS query time-out).
I have the despair to try migrating Windows 2003 and 2008 because he is still fail in DNS. Another way to migrate to Windows 2003 and 2008 with DNS, AD and GPO work?

  • Windows 2008 domain controller on the same square as field PC during startup? It work?

I'm not much of a type of network, or windows 2008 Server Administrator and I would appreciate really any impressions that those of you who have more experience could offer.

I expect to build a box of ESXi soon to help with my learning curve. I don't have a domain to my office at home now, but need to put in place (also the learning curve. It would be ideal that I have has no need to keep a windows 2008 running DC all the time, as they are in most workplaces. I was wondering if I install the domain controller and windows domain members 7 as vms on ESXi, the domain controller will be functional when starting up fast enough to be available to the virtual machines of windows 7 domain? I expect to turn off the machine when I'm not going to use it for say 3 hours. With my own pc I got it put "standby mode" a lot to save juice.

But without expertise in windows 2008 as a controller with ESXi or field, it is hard for me to project if this type of plan will work, or if it will fall flat on its face. I'm having problems with the virtual machines windows 7 if the domain controller is hosted on the same instance of ESXi?

That works perfectly.  Just make sure that once that ESXi is to start the virtual machine DC first and give him a few minutes to go before starting your Windows 7 virtual machine.

  • How can I activate Windows 2003 STD SP1 OEM Dell on VMware?

I'm trying to old Dell again P2V VMware.

P2V seems OK, but I had a problem during the activation.

When I enter the correct product key, Windows says that the key is unauthorized.

Of course, I know the license OEM is valid in the old Dell, but I have a valid license of Windows for new VMware as well.

I would like to know how to proceed to the next step.
