How to restore the previous session from a sessionstore.bak file

When I tried to open firefox that it automatically updated and deleted the sessionstore.js file. I saved the sessionstore.bak in another case, closed mozilla, changed the extension bak in js in the folder "profiles" Firefox and opened it again, but nothing happened. If the sessionstore.bak file is large 13Ko and seems to contain all the links in my previous session.

How I force Firefox to start a session by using the information in the sessionstore.bak or .js file, as it should?

Hello lordsilver2, the method you tried is correct, if does not work maybe the sessionstore.bak (renamed sessionstore.js) is corrupted.

First make a copy of the file (the renamed sessionstore.js) on your desktop and then try to create a new profile and move the copy in the new profile to see if it works. If the file is corrupt is not sure the books above.

Thank you

I was told if I found the session files I would be better able to restore my previous browsing sessions... I am using Windows XP PRO SP3 32-bit.
But I was also told that if I went to a particular place on Microsoft Windows, I know how to get the file extensions, so far I have had no luck with assistance here... hoping someone can help.
Or... do you something if I activate a restore point which would be an easier option?

Session files are located in your profile folder and are named sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak. If you have had an accident, FF load automatically and ask you if you want to use the session crashed.

If you don't have an accident, you can load the last session in FF from the default home page by clicking on the restore session. If you have changed the default home page you can call it by adding on: houses a copy of your FF shortcut. Simply change as follows...
    Then, you will see this...
Click on restore the previous session.

  • How to restore a previous session if this option is not highlighted in the history menu?

When I was leaving Firefox the last time, Adobe flash has attempted to open a tab to download something, so I forced to leave. Now, I just opened Firefox and there not restore my previous session as he usually does, and this option is not available in the menu background. I looked in the profiles folder in the Finder, but I don't think that there is no .bak file to before I restarted today. I had a lot of very important tabs at this session and I really need it back!

  • How to restore a previous session to a record of old data of Firefox?

There was a power outage today while I was start of Firefox and the computer shut down instantly. Later, when I tried to open Firefox again, he started glitching, with the option to restore Session only resulting in empty tabs. I refreshed Firefox and now I have an "Old Firefox Data" folder.

I have a folder of sessionrestore-backups in this folder, a file 'previous.js '. How to use this file (or other folder) to access my lost session? It is possible at all?

    Thanks for any help.

You can find these files in the sessionstore-backup folder:

previous.js (cleanBackup: copy of sessionstore.js from previous session that was loaded successfully)
recovery.js (latest version of the sessionstore written during runtime)
recovery.bak (previous version of the sessionstore written during runtime)
upgrade.js-<build_id> (backup created during an upgrade of Firefox)

You can copy a file in the sessionstore-backup folder to the main profile and rename sessionstore.js file to replace the current file (make a backup of the current sessionstore.js).

  • How to restore a previous session after firefox closed and deforested browsing history, is still any chance to get it there?

Accidentally closed down the pc and firefox did not return with option restore previous session in the first screen even in history-Restory previous session is gray. My settings are own history after closing firefox.
Y at - it no change to return on my tabs from previous session even browsing history has been cleaned? I'd appreciate your help!

In general, FireFox will behave in 1 of 3 ways when restarting after a stoppage.

    1 kill Shutdown
This occurs when the FireFox process ends with a TerminateProcess() appeal or if the process of FireFox crashes. It's a dirty, no cleaning is done. When restarting after this FireFox will show a dialog "well, this is embarrassing' with options to restore the items selected from the previous session.

    2 force Shutdown
This occurs when another process ask FireFox to shut down cleanly (for example, a reboot of the PC) by a call to ExitProcessEx() and does not ask confirmation of the user. Normally, when this type of shutdown happens, Firefox will just restore all tabs and sessions without asking. However if Firefox is set automatically delete the history on shutdown, it may not. I suspect that this is your case. I would suggest to the FF team remove that history should be ignored in this case, only a stop of the user must delete the history.

    3 judgment of the user.
That's when said user Firefox close (by selecting exit or by closing all the tabs etc...). Confirmation is requested to close all tabs (if enabled and more than 1 tab is open). When the computer reboots, nothing is restored.

Unfortunately, if you have enabled clear auto history, there is no way to recover the previous session. I'm sorry.

  • How to restore a previous session after a crash when it is not available?

We had a power outage, and when my computer is back she just opened a blank session. Restore previous session was not offered as an option - it is greyed out. I tried (probably foolishly) closing and reopening.
Now, I read a lot of ways to restore them, but many of them that I don't really understand.
I found the profile folder and a copy of the sessionstore.
Instructions say to right click and hit properties and then select "previous versions". That's where I come off. I don't seem to have this as an option. There are "General" tabs, "script" of 'security' and 'details' all with several sub-options. I can't seem to find anything that says than previous versions. I even followed a statement that says to do on the record and not on the file, but there is no option called 'previous versions' on either.
    I'm (unfortunately) using windows 8.

To use an old sessionstore instead of the current file, first of all, close Firefox. Rename sessionstore.js sessionstore.old file, and then rename the sessionstore.bak -datetime sessionstore.js file. When you start Firefox, if it is set to restore the tabs and windows of the previous session should only pick up. If it is set to start with your home page, use history > restore previous Session.

  • My macbook froze and I had to turn it off. When restarting and opening ff, ff did not restore the previous session and I lost all the tabs.

There is no trace of the previous session, to the title of the menu bar. I know it's common, I hope someone has a new response.
    Thank you

The xtra74pv.default file is the Firefox profile folder, if the file is in the right place and needed to be moved.

If you have an older version of the sessionstore.js file from before the crash then you need to replace the current sessionstore.js with the old copy to see if brings back the lost tabs.

  • If I'm out in private browsing when I restart I can not restore the previous session

    I'm newbie/PC illiterate
THANKS Mozilla AND VOLUNTEER FOR the EXISTING

Private browsing mode is designed to keep not take of your browsing history. This allows users to browse the internet without their history to be saved on his computer. For this reason, you cannot restore a session that was made in private browsing mode, the session is permanently deleted from the closing of Firefox.

If you want to have the ability to restore previous sessions, please use Firefox in normal browse mode.

  • Firefox does not restore the previous session in the same window?

    Hello

Everytime I open Firefox and click on the button restore previous session inside that nothing happens. This is the first part of the problem. Then, when I click on my history and click on restore previous session, it does but they will open in a new window. Ago only 3-4 days it started to arrive. I would like to change what is causing this back to how it was such that it is quite annoying when I pinned tabs and I have to keep re pinning.
I am running the developer version of Firefox.

    Thank you.

using macbook pro with os 10.7.5, was recommended to update adobe flash in firefox (22.0). did, which required closing and restarting firefox during the flash update. When you're done, firefox will automatically open to the adobe flash window and restore previous session was grayed out. can not know how to find and restore the tabs that I had used. responses and related issues is not a solution. my settings are all normal and do not seem to report any with the problem. on the contrary, it seems to be the closing and reopening of firefox associated with the flash update that nuked all memory of my last session. is there a solution?

I found my own solution to my problem! first of all, don't QUIT FIREFOX - to ensure this unwanted session does not become "last session". Instead, open a new window (command-N). in my case, he opened my usual default URL and, while in this window (whether before or after the closing of the first window browser that opened automatically after the update of adobe flash), the option 'restore previous session' in the menu historical reappeared! clicked on it and, therefore, the things everything worked normally.

Firefox updated itself randomly today and some settings changed. I always restore the tabs that I've used, and whenever I open a new tab it would show a blank page.
