How to stop the Welcome tab in Firefox to open whenever I open Firefox?

I read two ways to try to stop this aid but they either did not apply or I couldn't do what they suggest.

Everytime I open Firefox to the end the home to the fire fox tab opens as well as my home page. It's only a little trouble turning off every time, but I would like to happen. What can I do?

I found another one where they say to delete something out of the about.config, but I wasn't able to delete the line. I could not find how to remove a line on the subject of config.

Hello

I guess you have been following this article: Firefox says it's just updated each time that it starts - how to fix. Note that the most recent Firefox 33.1 (your user watch 33.0 agent), so if you use later, try to update again and see if that makes the page appears for the last time.

If the above does not work, try to go through How to set preferences that will not save. It could be a third-party application like antivirus software prevents your update preferences or a user.js file.

Who Subject: config line did you mean erase? I don't think you can remove entries from the configuration, unless you added it yourself and remove it from the prefs.js file. You can reset the default preferences or change their values. It is not safe to blindly change your configuration as it has no influence on how Firefox is running.

I use the 34 version and have the same oroblem

Hello WNxBrontus, this looks like a problem maybe caused by adware on your pc. Please go to firefox > addons > extensions & remove any suspect entries (toolbars, the things that you have not installed intentionally, I don't know what purpose they serve, etc.). also, go to Control Panel / programs and remove all potentially unwanted software.

Remove a toolbar that has supported your Firefox or the homepage search

later, you can either install the searchreset addon to get rid of the problem, or manually resetting the page that opens on each new tab - enter Subject: config in the address bar of firefox (confirmed the message information where it appears), search for the preference named browser.newtab.url and right click and reset it to its default value (subject (: newtab).

  • How to close the current tab in Firefox v 17.0.1?

I have used Firefox for years and have always used tabs instead of opening new windows. I was always able to click the little 'X' on the right side of the tab to close it. I find now that I can't close the active tab by doing this. I have to click on another tab open, and then click the other tab, that I wanted to close.

I looked through the Options several times trying to see if there is a setting I need to change, but found nothing.

Is it possible in this version of Firefox (v17.0.1) to close the active tab?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance).

    • Do not click on the reset button on the start safe mode window or make changes.

Looks like you contracted a bad add-on or two. Here is my procedure suggested for tracking down and cleaning of the injectors to ad, the unwanted speed dials and other bad modules. Sorry for the length - it is not as bad as it sounds:

    (1) open the Control Panel, uninstall a program. After the loading of the list, click on the column heading "installed on" to group infections, I mean additions by date. This can help the undisclosed items bundle smoker who snuck out with some software, you have agreed to install. Out as much garbage as possible here.

    (2) open Firefox page modules using either:

    • CTRL + SHIFT + a
    • "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons

In the left column, click on Plugins. Set essential and unrecognized plugins 'never enable '.

In the left column, click Extensions. Then, in case of doubt, disable (or delete, if possible) not recognized and unwanted extensions.

Often, a link will appear above at least an extension disabled to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links in the last step.

    Any improvement?

    (3) you can search the rest of problems with scanning/cleaning tools listed in our technical support article: Troubleshooting Firefox problems caused by malware. These scanners on request are free and take a long time to run. If they end quickly, especially if they require the payment you have a serious infection. I suggest the specialty forums listed in the article in this case.
