How to turn on windows Defender can not access
When I try to turn on windows Defender I get message saying Defender has been turned off.
Go to the Action Center and start from there. It only works if all other AV have been completely uninstalled. You will need to run McAfee MCPRT if you had formerly McAfee on your computer. I'll send the link, you can find him if necessary.

Does anyone know how to turn on Windows Defender
I can find anywhere on the site of MS how re - download Defender. I can see on my control panel, and when I try to open it, it just says: it has been turned off. HOW IN THE WORLD you turn back? Please?
You can run an anti-virus program from full time at some point. Windows Defender is disabled if you install another anti-virus program.
If you have installed another anti-virus and uninstalled... cool... but most uninstall very well & require you to visit their support pages and download and run the uninstaller or clean tool.
Windows defender is a part of win8. You don't need to download it. It runs automatically unless you disable explicitly its advanced options. Condition that you don't have another anti-virus running product.

If please, go to the flag in the task bar and click on it, click Open Action Center, expand the chevron of security, spyware / malware protection-click see installed antispyware programs and you'll see it there. Hi George,.
Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community and we can help you with your problem.
According to the description, you are facing problems with turning on Windows Defender. To help you to propose measures to solve the problem, I would appreciate if you could answer the following questions:
1. what security software is installed on the computer?
2 did you do changes on the computer before the show?
You must have security (anti-virus) software installed on the computer.
More than ONE cause of slow system, freezing injuries, programs not to work properly with Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) disables Windows Vista Defender as MSE has its own integrated version in Defender.
You can follow the steps in the article mentioned below and check if it works:
Error message when you run Windows Defender: «Error 0x800106ba»

Also see this article for more information about Windows Defender:
