How to undo the Partition of the disk on El Capitan

Hello

I have a disc of SSHD TB 1, I had been running on my Macbook 2009 6.1 for on a few months or more.  Because I wanted a partition to use Time Machine, I had partitioned the drive by on 50-50.  Things have been working quite well until I recently made the mistake of trying to resize the partition and accidentally created a new partition (which I didn't).  Is it possible to cancel the new partition (as do not have here in the first place) and that the primary drive where I start with about 700 GB and "partition" I want to keep to 300 GB (so I can use Time Machine to back up the main drive)?

I tried to find "logical volume" or the "+ -" options on my disk utility interface, but they are just not there for me to use.  This computer is running on El Capitan.

Thanks a lot for helping me.

Certain rules and conditions apply. Most of them are described here:

• Utility disk (El Capitan): partitioning a physical disk

There is also a second disk within OS X Recovery utility, not

all the old Mac running OS X can have it; then move forward with caution:

• The OS X recovery - Apple Support

For system user backup copies, duplicates, clones and etc.

on external hard drives, is usually another way around catering to go

issues or accidents. Preventive action helps troubleshooting too.

Don't know what else you have tried, or the steps you took.

Good luck & happy computing!

Original title: Win XP volume quota

I'm a partitioning of a HARD drive with win XP service pack 3.

How reset the disk volume quota hard C, I can not get access to quota controls?

Size of the disk, it's all the 100 GB, I can see on C is 54 GB. you will need to access the other 50 GB.

    1. What do you mean by "unpartitioning" a disc?  If you mean that you remove some partitions on a physical disk in order to have more space in a remaining partition, you should know that you will not be able to extend the partition system (usually c :)), even if there is unallocated space on the disk unless you use a third-party disk management tool.  Windows XP cannot do with its native tools.

    2. are you sure you really want to use disk quotas?  It would be unusual in their homes.
2B. which means you that you cannot 'access' to quota controls?  You see the tab "Quota"?  Are you logged on as a user who has privileges?

    3. where are you looking that see you C 54 GB but think you should see 100 GB?

    Hello

do you know how to remove the HARD drive password? I know the current password, but if I try to remove it by changing your current password to a blank password, it does not work.
    It has password always news.

    Thank you

    Hello

I hope that you use the correct and just HARD drive password because it of necessary to remove and delete the existing HARD disk password.
If you have forgot the password for HARD drive then the HARD drive should be locked and you would not be able to unlock the HARD drive!

Generally, the HARD drive password can be deleted in the BIOS.
Please ensure that another password would be removed too.

I found a forum thread useful on a password disk HARD similar question:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?MessageID=66386𐍒

According to the information published by the user jonr17 you must first make sure that all other like BIOS passwords, user and supervisor passwords are removed.
Then try to remove the HDD from the BIOS password.

    Good bye

  • How to choose the disk defrag for several devices in windows? Using Norton 360 do now.

    Hello.

I was wondering if in Win XP or Vista, is there a way to disk defragment multiple devices?

I go in disk defrag at the moment and can only do one disc at a time. I have run more than one player internal (and some external drives). So I need a bit of an automated process to turn it on and leave it alone. I use this option in Norton 360, it works fine as far as I can tell. But I guess that a windows application is more accurate or complete.

    Hello

The version of the Disk Defragmenter MMC console is provided with Windows XP this the following limitations:
    a. it can defragment only local volumes.
    b. it can defragment only one volume at a time.
    c. it cannot defragment one volume while it is an another scan.
    d. it cannot be scheduled. If you need schedule disk defragmentation, use the Defrag.exe command-line tool.

First of all, you must know the structure of your tables. Using the table definition, you can quite easily calclulate the average row size. Then multiply by the expected number of rows. Do this for all tables. Factor in the fact that the space allocated by degrees. So, if you have a measurement of 10 MB size, the first line you insert will cause 10 MB drive to eat, but then the "n" next lines will cause no additional disk consumption (up until the 10 MB is consumed) because there is already a 10 MB preallocated in the scope. Factor in the use of the pct adversely affect use of the measure. Factor to a value of loot to take account the fact that everything is a riddle. Some people recommend a haul of 100%.

And all this is just for the data files for the tables. Go through the same exercise for the index. Add the backupsets and archivelog files.

I tried to open the disk drive and I need help on howq to open it?

Based on the specifications of your laptop HP 15-f009wm, this model is a CD/DVD drive. The reason for which you cannot find or open the disc drive, is because it is not a. You can buy an external USB CD/DVD drive if you require the use of a CD/DVD drive.

  • How can I repair a file Vault disk in El Capitan?

I had force my Macbook shut down recently and I opened disk utility to see if everything was okay. I'm running day El Capitan with a FileVault encrypted drive. Mid-2014 Macbook Pro bought February 2015.

"First aid" running on the external Apple SSD article seems to be OK. It is when I run 'First aid' Macintosh HD said tells me that something is wrong and it needs to be repaired, but there is no repair button. Subsequent executions of "First aid" keep showing that there is a problem, so it doesn't seem to be repaired first aid course.

I tried to start with the command + R to repair the disk, but it let me only apply "First aid" for Apple, not the Macintosh HD SSD. He said that Macintosh HD was not mounted. I guess it's because it is encrypted with FileVault, but I couldn't find how to tell him to decipher or mount the drive to take a peek.

How can I run a repair on the disk? Should I even bother?

    Thank you!

To mount, check or repair a disk or a volume that is encrypted with FileVault using disk utility, enter the FileVault password when you are prompted.
