I was quite easily able to update two of my guests with managers to upgrade to a more recent version, however puzzled on what to do with the host that hosts my vCenter on that server? We have VMware essentials if we do not have to use Vmotion. Is there an easy way to update this host without vCenter cloning and move to another host to update?   I guess your vCenter is on the shared storage - connect to the host of your power VM vCenter down the VM and remove from the inventory of the hosts - go to one of the hosts that has been already updated and add the virtual machine to inventory and run it - and now, you're ready to use the Update Manager to update host rest.

  You can consider the following option.

  1. create a new table AAA_CDR_BKP as being equal to the structure of table AAA_CDR

  
  Create Table AAA_CDR_BKP as
  Select * from AAA_CDR where 1=2;
  

  2. check the original array (AAA_CDR) as of the clues in this regard. Make sure you take the DDL of these indices, because you will need it later.

  3. now you can insert records from AAA_CDR to AAA_CDR_BKP

  
  Insert /*+APPEND */ into AAA_CDR_BKP
  select col1,col2,col3,null,null,null,null,null,col9,null,col11
  from AAA_CDR;
  
  Commit;
  

  where you will pass nulls for the required columns. Also make sure you have space on the tablespace as equal to table AAA_CDR

  You can get the size of the table in

  4 delete the index (if any) of the original table (AAA_CDR)
  5. rename the original in AAA_CDR_ORG table
  6. Rename AAA_CDR_BKP to AAA_CDR
  7 run the DDL scripts on step 2 to re-create the index.
  8. delete the AAA_CDR_ORG table after investigating the whole operation.

  Using this method, you'll generate less archive logs and the process will be faster.

  After you download ESXi 4.0, I get an ESXi 3.5 wrong License-Code that will not work with ESXi 4.0. After a new registration full on the website of vmware with a new email address, I got a free ESXi 4.0 License Code that works now.

  I installed / updated on a Dell r.620 Server ESXi 5.0 5.1 vSphere
  I also have an ESXi installed 5.0 an another r.620 Dell both connected to a Snyology Racksation via NFS. (at different volumes)
  Now, I have the problem that I can't install an OS (Windows XP, Windows 8, Windows 7) located on an NFS share in a new created virtual machine.
  I am not connected without vCenter, just with the vSphere Client direct connected.
  The system boots, but I can not choose to install the operating system on the new created VMDK but then nothing happens.
  I also tried to format the drive before installation, formatting breaks down after 15 minutes with the message: "unable to format the drive...". 0 x 80070057 ".
  When the virtual machine is on the local storage of the VM to the server, everything works fine.
  I can also install and start virtual machines on the same NFS with an ESXi 5.0 share.
  Formerly installed VMs can also start. All hung on the windows logo screen and the German Embassy "Comuptereinstellungen werden übernommen"... for over an hour...
  The same virtual machines work fine on the ESXi 5.0, located on the same NFS share.
  But on the NFS share, I can write and read the data with the Client vSphere (on configuration-> storage) with no problems, so I guess that there is a problem with the NFS, permissions etc volume.
  So I guess there must be a problem with the NFS share on vSphere Host 5.1.

  Does anyone have an idea what is the problem?
