How we prevent frim backlight dimming (maybe crazy Blackberry that the interaction that happened?)

I have an app that for long periods of time the user watches the screen,

But even I put the backlight for the maximum wait time, it's not enuff.

Is there a way to prevent the screen from dimming or is there a work-around, like cheating the blackberry into thinking that the entry that's happened?

I guess you can get slowed down information DeviceInfo, but this does not dimming of light... I thought to repeat a call to activate the backlight all 255 seconds... but is it necessary to have a thread that loop just never do this?

My apologies, I missed that.

If I was going to this, I would touch reset in an RealTimeClockListener interface.  This is called every minute, so you don't need to have your own Thread.

But before coming to the RealTimeClockListener to do, I'll make sure he has the permission to do so, using ApplicationPermissions.  I recommend that you don't ask for permission on update() RealTimeClockListener code, but use

UiApplication.getUiApplication () .invokeLater (...);

(not invokeAndWait to seize the eventLock, as he will pick up this treatment) to initiate the treatment that he asked.

That seems like a better approach?

  • How to prevent a user from opening multiple instances on the same computer?

On site oldnavyweekly.com , there is a .swf which prevents users to open multiple instances of the site at the same time on the same computer. If you open the site and try to open it again in another window, it will not load. Cannot open the site again until the first window is closed. How did they implement this?

    My analysis, that is NOT:
    1. cookies - the block always takes place if you try to open it in Internet Explorer and also try to open it in Firefox at the same time.
2 flash Cookies - the block always takes place if I disable flash cookies.
3 IP Based Block - you are not blocked if you open the site on two separate computers with the same outgoing IP address. From my analysis, their server does not help in the block at all.

It seems as if their .swf creates a sort of object throughout the global system which can be detected in other instances of the application on the same computer. How did they implement this?

    Thank you!

  • How to prevent (sidebar.exe) Gadgets to add itself to the Windows startup (autorun) automatically?

I would like to know if there is a way to prevent the application from Gadgets to auto-ajouter itself to HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run. I have the version Windows 7 RC build 7100.
My motivation is trying to reduce to a minimum the use of system resources when I am running on battery power. Selectively, I removed some programs from running at startup and added a new task in the Task Scheduler to run a script at startup that runs applications only if the current alternative. The only thing that I'm not able to set up this way is sidebar.exe (and I have a lot of heavy gadgets on the use of system resources) because it always adds itself to this automatic launch location every time I start it manually.

Well, it seems I have to use taskkill after all. Or try to hack sidebar.exe to remove the (not sure if it's legal) procedure. Or prevent the modification of the registry key using a package of security software.
    Thanks for looking into this.

  • How it happened and how to prevent it: type def cluster change causes the element starts up again

    Hi all

I have a big nested type nested def cluster, several layers.  I have remove the clusters to use the feature "name" to use it.

Somehow changing the def of big type causes unlustered elements starts up again.

For example, the element is the element clustered and used, then after I modified the def type, I don't remember how, maybe remove some items, perhaps rename elements, then the element where B is the unlustered element and used.

It is very scary because it just happened automatically and no broken error reported and this can spoil the entire application.

It happen to someone else? How to prevent it?

    Many thanks for any help.

    Anne

A search on 'Ben', 'cluster' 'type def' to see that I've been bitten in the same way.

The earch will reveal the various things that have been suggested according to the version of LV

First rule of ben from cluster

Avoid like the plague by deleting or renaming items.

    Other stuff:

If you need to remove an item, change its representation to something that will break all instances for example change digital chain. Then go all the broken VI difficulty by throwing all the refs for the field you want to delte. And then delete.

in the LV ealier version, better all the screws that use clusters that open when the change is made.

In the recent version that neither recommended edititng cluster with all the appellants closed with the theory being that LV handles better the opening of VI.

Given that I am "Of Ben first rule of the cluster" I don't run in the bug often with LV 2009.

  • How to prevent the installation of software and IE extensions / toolbars, etc.

I try to help a small business at home with a Windows 7 PC with IE 9. The PC is used for normal business purposes: Microsoft Office documents, e-mail (AOL app), video editing and burn them on DVD or download YouTube and Vimeo, and research in Internet Explorer for commercial use normal and legitimate

    My questions are (explained later):

All the PCs here have parental control of Microsoft and Microsoft Security Essentials installed. None of the PC should be able to be used for something ELSE (not only internet) between midnight and 08:00.
    1. How can I get Internet Explorer 9 on Windows 7 automatically restore the State by default when it is closed? As if it were a PC in an internet café, library or school? This allows to avoid the (intentional or accidental) installation of toolbars, extensions, etc. in IE 9, if possible, I'd like to keep Google as the default search provider and homepage; In addition, the extensions 'regular' such as Flash Player, Real Player and Acrobat Reader must remain in place and JavaScript should work.
    2. the son managed to resume using his own PC (and perhaps the PC business) at limited hours. I guess he got Windows 7 SysInternals disk to remove the administrative password. Is there a way I can stop that then reapply restrictions? Maybe he simply restored the system from the recovery partition or reinstalled Windows, so I need a way to prevent these things from happening as well. A firmware password would do the trick?

This probably wouldn't have happened if there was a way to allow installation of the software on a Standard account. On the own PC of the son, it's okay if it installs the software, browser toolbars and so on--even if it is malware. It is only the PC that should be free of this professional. It is also possible that it has installed this junk on the Professional PC as a form of punishment.
It is not possible to force users to use Firefox or Chrome instead of IE. And IE suffered from some bad extensions that were installed in Chrome.
    Explanation:
The owner of the company adult son uses this PC occasionally working for the company, but mostly for its own use. The son, who can be a little mentally ill and lives with his father in the House where the business is, continued installation providers extensions, toolbars and search for malware, unwanted, unsafe in Internet Explorer and change the homepage. Office workers may have also unintentionally installed some malicious software search engines.
Occasionally, the son works for the company, so must have the PC of the company. However, he often uses the PC for its own purposes, which includes things like trying to download protected content (movies, television and music) without having to pay for it. It seems that he sometimes spend time free looking for games. (Before I put on the parental control, it had installed several of them. There still frequently installed toolbars, extensions and search providers in Internet Explorer to facilitate this [protected media download] and [probably] some of them gets simply by visiting the types of malicious websites that claim to offer free stuff. The son has four pieces of his own, which are almost unusable due to multiple malware infections.
Owner of the company I was install the parental control on the PC of the son in addition to the PC business to prevent the use of any computer between midnight and 08:00 when the son is supposed to sleep or study and not play games or use the computer for something ELSE. According to the owner of the company, the son psychiatrist said that the son must sleep during those hours every day.
Currently, it is not possible for me to question the son - it is of course very unhappy about not being able to install software on PCs own hie. Not that I was all happy that all this, but he isn't one to pay me.
Sorry, this has been so long. The situation is a little stressful.

A knowledgeable user can bypass/get around any account login admin password, by using any method found in a search on the internet.

You can try to set up separate for normal use restricted user accounts.

You can also configure another admin account, with the reset/recovery disk of password for your own use. (In which case a user causes problems in their attempt to circumvent restrictions)

Assuming that PCs are networked / connected via a routor, a decent has the ability to restrict the sites accessible both to prevent net access between certain hours, on a per PC basis.

There is software of third parties, such as used on some PCs consulted by the public in the scenario you mentioned, although how it would affect normal business type useage I could say.

Certain third-party Internet security applications also have the ability to restrict access/use their own parental controls

  • How oracle prevent "partial writing".

MySQL innodb use 'Write' to prevent partial writing.
    http://www.mysqlperformanceblog.com/2006/08/04/InnoDB-double-write/

But oracle does not 'Double entry', then, what is the mechanism in oracle to prevent partial writing?

We intend to use the block size 32 k, and the level of file system block size is 8 KB. So if oracle written 32 k, but only the first blocks wrote on the drive before the accident, how to recover the oracle?

Well, I note that PostgreSQL also has the function of flushing pages to its transaction logs, the first time, that they were updated after a checkpoint, so I see that this is a common feature of other databases. (I guess if you were crazy enough to insist on the Oracle having same function, you could just issue an "alter database begin backup ' command and leave it like that!")

All I can say is that the overhead costs of this approach are huge (that's why PostgreSQL makes optional, I suppose), and if you check what you have written on the disk after you wrote it (checksum), writing full page in another location shouldn't really be necessary. DBWR did this. And since DBWR works in the background, the calculation of the checksum should not amount to a significant overhead. You can also ask your server process to do it on every read operation (DB_BLOCK_CHECKING), even if it means more load.

During this time, collections of instance (crash) in Oracle never impose participation DBA (other than to activate the "start" command, I guess!).

But yes, if you never get said "corrupt block detected", the answer is media recovery, recovery for instance no - and Yes, which will involve delivery in DBA and recovering things (or something like dbms_repair running "Workaround"). Keep in mind, however, that it is possible to use RMAN to simple block collections while the rest of the database is in place and work... is not always true that the "recovery media" is a huge, full-on case that is to restore gigabytes of things and sat for hours waiting for the things get fixed.

Firefox creates files of 'file' in C:\Users\LeRicain\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\dnm04rk5.default\cache2
There are about 10,000 and 20,000 files I have to remove to get about 300 MB of space each day

How to prevent the creation of these files in Firefox

Here are the files from cache. Basically, it takes Web sites that access you a lot and records bits of them so they'll load faster the next time you visit them. FOR EXAMPLE if you visit Google.com much, Firefox will save some elements of this page in the cache so that the next time visit you Google.com, it will not have to re - download.
