  Just bought a 15-f010wm of Wal-Mart.  It comes standard with only one simm 4 GB card.   In one place that the manual says that SIMM is not user replaceable, then in another part has a diagram and instructions to replace.  A forum of Wal-Mart announcement said that memory 'should' be expandable to 8 GB.  It is not an answer.

  I called HP and after being somewhat persistent told me that this machine can be upgraded to a single card of 8 GB.  Based on all the information, I have read and received I'm 99.9999% sure that's true.

I replaced the MB with a new Board of Directors of HP when the price has been reduced to $100, updated the CPU with an announced as new AMD 640 M and applied Arctic Silver on CPU and graphics chips. I put in 4 G memory cool, got the computer to work and installed Windows 10.

  The computer seems to run very hot and stopped twice from overheating during its first period of 2 weeks when it there was not a lot of calculating, fan was run at top speed at all times, and the laptop was high to allow good airflow below.

  According to the program of the Open Hardware Monitor, the CPU had reached 97-99 C a few times. I bought support cooling a player and that seems to help a lot, dropping the temperature to 20 ° C.

  Yes, that's the conclusion I came to.  You can always try to see what is actually happening.  I had a different motherboard (again a HP) which had similar limitations except his max was total 2 GB, and he saw 4 GB very well.   They make a slightly different version of this Board with 4 memory locations, instead of both yours has, then who knows until you experimant.

  If you want to avoid the RAM eating problem, consider an update - but also consider that it is not recommended to update to mid-project. Also consider that when direct linking of first in SpeedGrade versions must match.
