  I just received an online message say a word about the ink is low.  So I assume that it is the black which is low, most of my impressions are black text.  How can I check this and only change the cartridge that is low.  What I have to buy the same exact cartridges like the original or are there compatible practices there.

  1. open Control Panel

  2. click on uninstall a program

  3 uninstall the Photosmart 6510 in the list

  4 restart your computer

  5. download and install the latest version of Adobe flash player

  See if there are updated drivers available. Start http://www.epson.com/ and then work your way to the drivers & support > your model.

  However, given the age of the printer, if there are drivers available, they cannot provide all the features that were available in XP updated.

  I have a situation similar as some features of the tool for my HP 2575 (levels of ink, for one) who worked under XP do not work on Vista, even with updated drivers.

  Sometimes, there is an icon in the taskbar that you can get this information.  Yet once, it is a function of the driver and the printer software.
